Outlook Express 6. Error code: 0x800ccc0f

Hi all

I'm trying to solve this problem on my computer at home that my parents use to e-mail. They use Outlook Express 6, (because my father is Office Outlook too complicated!) and get this error message when started OE6 / trying to send/receive:
"Your server has terminated suddenly the connection. The possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. "Account:"Philip Edwards - BT Yahoo! Mail', server: 'mail.btinternet.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, secure (SSL): no, error number: 0x800CCC0F.

OE6 continues to download the same 3 messages, coming to the 4th then this error message is displayed. It seems to be able to see how many messages it must download, because the sound out of the i.e. message 2 of 13, continues to go up.
I looked on various forums, and none seem to have exactly this problem. As far as I know, anti virus software has not been updated (its McAfee Security Center) and they had for centuries. Internet connects very well, so no problem there.
Someone at - it ideas on how to solve this problem? Please keep the answers simple, although I am technical interest, I do not understand most of the jargon.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can solve this problem.
Ollie

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. You will need to login to your webmail to check the password and if it does not, retrieve the password to the site.

Assuming that the password is valid, you can re - enter the accounts of outlook express configuration and try again. It may be necessary to create a new identity in outlook express.

Help!  Have not been able to download emails for several days.  After the Outlook Express signature, he begins to receive messages and then an error screen appears with the message POP3 Port 110 and 0x800C0133 error after this no messages appear as the mail queue is growing...

I tried the help sections and also contacted Microsoft who sent me on this forum.  Am not very computer, so any help is really appreciated.

    Error number: 0x800C0133 = a corrupt Inbox.

Move any message you want to save to a local folder that you create. Then, remove the problem of Inbox as follows.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the box of Inbox.dbx and delete it.  Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

    General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

  • Outlook Express (XP) - Error Message "there was an error opening this message. An error has occurred. "When you try to open an e-mail.

I can not open e-mails or addressbook from OE.

When you open an email, I get the following messages, 'there was an error opening this message.  An error has occurred. "However, I can save an email on my desk (cause I can't open it) and receive the following error message while trying to open my office on the second dialog box AFTER the above message, Outlook express could not be started.  It can be installed incorrectly.  Make sure your disk is not full and you're not out of memory.  Contact Microsoft support for further assistance (0x8004104F)".  I'm not out of disk space or memory.

When I try to open the address book within the OE, the error message says "unable to open the address book.  The AddressBook is may not be installed correctly.  I check that the WAB file is not read-only (as a matter of fact, I can open the WAB file directly by double-clicking in Explorer and email as an 'Action' very well).  Also, I check register and I have not any sharing with Outlook 2007.  I continue to receive emails and such mentioned, can send through the WAB file.

There was an update of Windows by 18 points before it do not longer work.  I don't have a record of what has been installed.  I tried to come back a week to a previous restore point, but told me that nothing has changed.

Help, please.  This has worked well for years.

Remove Folders.dbx. If you can get OE open, create a new book of identity and address.

In Windows XP, the files of user OE (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

The path to the message will be very similar to this:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Your User of utilisateur\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\ {long string of letters & numbers} \Microsoft\Outlook Express

With OE closed, find the Folders.dbx file and delete it.  Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

    Note these possible side effects:

When you re - start OE, it will build a new index of all *.dbx files it can read and create a new Folders.dbx. However, understand that you will lose the mail directory structure and message rules will probably have to be edited.

    Hi Rhonda,

This behavior can occur if the attributes of a part or all the messages Outlook Express *.dbx files are read-only.

Method 1: Rename the Folders.dbx file.

    a. click Start, point to findand then click files or folders.

    b. in the named box, type folders.dbx.

    (c) in the area look in , click on your main hard drive (usually drive C), and then click find now.

    d. right-click on the Folders.dbx file and then click Rename.

    e. type folders.old, and then click OK.

    f. launch Outlook Express. This automatically creates a new Folders.dbx file.

  • Need help to resolve Outlook express problem error number: 0x800C0133.

When I open my Outlook Express mailbox, "I see the message: error number: 0x800C0133.

Your Inbox may be altered.  Go to file | Identities and setup a new identity.  Add your email account and see if it works very well.  If this is the case, then go to file | Import | Messages to bring them from the old identity.

It is important to keep files compacted, as otherwise, the GET corrupted and you will lose messages, then you get invited to compact, let him finish.  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2

You have posted on the forum of wong. Outlook Express is not Microsoft Outlook. It is likely that the message and this answer and all others will be moved to the correct forum by a moderator.

You are most probably see a 0x800C0133 because you have a corrupted Inbox.dbx file. Failure to delete can be due to the corrupted Inbox.dbx box or because you have a corrupted file item.dbx deleted. The two commonfactors causing corrupt are files dbx and interupting the process of compaction before it is completed.

Records of your reception and sent items box only takes messages waiting for resettlement until you move. Have not all the subfolders of the Inbox. In the paragraph following, that I describe a way that helps reduce the retention of messages in the two system created folders, which are therefore subject to message loss and file corruption.

In Outlook Express, place the cursor on the local folders and select the file, folder, New and name your new folder. AAInbox and AASent may be suitable for your needs. Move all messages in your Inbox and your records sent to the local files newly created items. Repeat if you have created subfolders for each folder.

You will still need to look at the overall size of individual files, that too large a results folder in system struggling to manage the file. File corruption occurs most often when the compaction process is interrupted or if any reading or writing to file takes place when Outlook Express closes abruptly. What tends to happen more often with more large files. Others define a maximum file size by specifying a size for example 300 MB, as part of their recommendation. In my opinion, that this may mislead the size may be significantly lower. It depends on the ability of the system to deal with large files.

You can control the process of compaction by at a time that suits you at any time until the account reaches 100.

In Outlook Express, place the cursor on the local folders and select file, work offline, followed by file, folder, Compact everything. Do not attempt to interrupt or stop the process to the end. close Outlook Express when it is finished, but do not rush closing as changes will still be made for a period after the compaction process appears to have completed.

After compaction, ensure that your Outlook Express folders are properly. Select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, disk cleanup to empty your trash and delete temporary Internet files. Run Disk Defragmenter.
