Windows Mail can't find my old email. I reinstalled all my old data from a backup external drive. However, windows mail downloaded a large number of empty files which I can't delete even. How to access my old email? An I can a copy of outlook express somewhere? When I look at the folder.dbx file only contains email until 2007. Here are the emails I have uploaded from an old computer in 2007.

  • Outlook Express for Windows 8

I just upgraded to a new computer with Windows 8. I used to use Outlook Express as my mail server. I had the files backed up, but I want to know what program I need now that I transfer all of my contacts and emails from Outlook Express.

There is a Mail app in Windows 8.  You can find it by searching the mail of the start screen.   It will ask for your e-mail address and the password and then is to synchronize the application with your e-mail account.  When the synchronization is made unless there is a problem, all will be there on your server.

  • Connect my e-mail yahoo for Outlook Express for Windows XP

I followed the instructions in the wizard, but when I start Outlook, it evokes a box that says: "enter network password". In this box, it lists my server as being: pop.mail.yahoo.com. It then lists my user name (which is OK for yahoo), then he asks for my network password. I get my yahoo password, and nothing happens. He brings just to the top of the same box, as if my password is not their looking for. Also, when I try to send a piece of mail, it does not send in FACT, but it puts in the 'Outbox '. When I go to close Outlook, he asks me if I really want to close it, because I have letters in my Outbox.

Thanks in advance for your comments!

We are talking about Outlook or Outlook Express? You mention both.

If it's a US or CA, Yahoo account, and that you are not subscribed to Yahoo Mail Plus, then you cannot access the account in Outlook Express.

  • where can I install outlook express for windows xp I deleted by mistake it.

I do stupid things sometimes and this time I deleted outlook express with the Add/Remove programs. How can I get it back?

Try to restore your computer to an earlier time, before the uninstall of Microsoft outlook express. Click Start, all programs, accessories, tools and system, then system restore.

    Good luck.

  • Windows Live Mail/Outlook Express for Windows XP 64-bit?

On my work machine, I was just upgraded from Windows XP 32 bit to 64 bit. Only now I find that Windows Live Essentials 2011 is not compatible with XP 64-bit. Is there any program I can use to access my Hotmail email on Windows XP 64-bit?

    Kind regards

    P.

There may be a POP client that runs on WIndows XP 64-bit.  You will not be able to get to your contacts or calendar or other folders than Inbox, however.  Parameters by using a POP client can be found here: http://windowslivehelp.com/solution.aspx?solutionid=a485233f-206d-491e-941b-118e45a7cf1b

  • Import messages from Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail Inbox

I can't import my Inbox of Outlook Express to WIndows Live Mail.  I saved my OE Inbox to a file .csv to a flash drive.   I then copied the file from my desktop flash player.   I open Live Mail, import, Microsoft Outlook express and stressed the desktop icon of the file.   I get an error that no message is available.  What I am doing wrong?

Contacts can be saved on one. CSV, no messages file.
OE contacts are stored in a .wab file. You can import this (or a CSV file)
in WLM. Just open WLM, open Contacts, do a file-import-etc.

Your messages in OE are already stored in .dbx files. Copy all the .dbx
files on the XP computer in a temporary folder on the Windows 7 computer.
Be sure to include the folders.dbx file.

then open WLM and don't file - import - etc.

When I click on anything it either in the Outlook Express Preview window to stop answer and I have use the ctrl-alt-del combination for her all over again. Anyone out there have the same problem? If so what did you do about it.

Original title: I'm under Oulook Express 6 Windows XP Home SP3 environment.

    Bruce:

The problem has been fixed (I think) but in a most unusual way. Let me explain.

When I was closing down to give the computer a rest yesterday, there was a pop up saying that vprotector expected to close. He really wanted the process of closing until I clicked on finish the process. Curious to know what vprotector is, I searched on the net and got a lot of shots, saying: it is a virus and should be deleted pronto. So I searched the hard drive for the vprot. * and found in the folder program files for AVG!

I then went to AVG to see if it's really a part of AVG and they said yes. If there is a problem with vprot, the toolbar is at fault and needs to be reinstalled. There was one click here to download and run the part of the program to fix the problem. However, I had WebRoot antivirus running that stopped the download of this program as a virus. Because I trust AVG, I've disabled WebRoot and reinstalled the AVG search bar.

I haven't restarted WebRoot and computer flying along as it should, and OE is the link to IE when I click on a link as it has always done.

Seems to me to be the faulty AVG toolbar and a cross with two virus programs upward was at fault. Thank you for your time. Your reply gave me a chance to think differently this problem could arise.

Computers are really complicated machines and we have to be complicated to deal with their problems.

    Thanks again,

    Fred

  • I have Windows XP Home Edition and use Outlook Express for my e-mail. Is there a way to copy/send e-mail, favorite contacts and my photos on a Flash key?

Open the address book in the old identity and file | Export | Address book (wab) to any location on your HARD drive that is easy for you. The office is very well. Then drag that to the flash drive.

In IE: File | Import and export | Export to a file. Check Favorites | Next | Next | Navigate to a folder or the desktop and export. Drag the folder in the flash player.

For photos, just right-click on the folder and drag it to the USB and copy here.

  • The upgrade to Windows 7 using Outlook Express for email

I am currently using Windows XP pro, and considering the purchase of a new PC which has Windows 7 installed. I use Outlook Express as my email program. What would be the procedure to "migrate" my address book and outgoing emails from Outlook EXpress in Windows 7.

Thanks for any help - local retailers just say it may be possible, but not sure about the process.

Windows 7 doesn't have a native email client integrated as previous versions of Windows, so you can decide what email client you use first.

  • When will Microsoft as Outlook Express for its windows again?

I am running Win 7 64 bit with IE 8 and I want to return to Outlook Express.  I don't miss it.  They bring him back?  If so, when?  If not, why?  I never understood why they said that it was not compatible with Vista or Win 7 as if they do not have the product to make compatible rendering changes at first.

They will bring back OE. Microsoft is "addicted to live" now and it doesn't look like it will change anytime soon.

All production of OE and Windows Mail ended in June 2006. (And Vista was still in beta!). WinMail solved major drawback of EO, fragile system of dbx files, but it was put to rest before the completion in order to start working on Windows Live Mail (desktop). This was to be the superior replacement for OE and WinMail. (Uh - huh?).

So, what to do. There are still more options than these, but if you have Win7 Pro, enterprise or ultimate edition, you can use OE in XP Mode.

You can also opt for a third-party program such as Thunderbird.

And, you can use Windows Mail in Win7. You did, but it is hidden and needs to get a little help.

Using Windows Mail in Windows 7.

First of all, you need to access a Vista computer.

On the Win7 machine, find the "Windows Mail" folder in Program Files. Rename it to "OldWindows Mail" as a precaution.

Using a Flash or CD, copy the folder "Windows Mail" in its entirety to the Vista machine.

Return to the Win7 machine and copy the 'Windows Mail' of the Flash or CD to a directory in Program Files.

Open and right-click on the WinMail.exe file and send a shortcut on the desktop. Fact.

When I got this Win7 machine, I set up Windows Mail for the focus groups and used WLMail for mail. I was disappointed with WLMail, but tolerated it. With the 2011 version showing me that MS wanted to stand out from what looked like customers to e-mail in the past, I went with Thunderbird and now use it for mail.

It's only my opinion. Of course. There are many people out there who like the new WLMail and more power to them. It's what makes you happy. (I wish just that MS has realized that, and that's what makes them happy).
