Outlook Express for Windows7

My PC under XP Pro uses outlook express for my e-mail. After several attempts to transfer to Windows7on my cell phone, I find that everything is going fine except for my previous mail folders. I'm not a COMPUTER expert so if someone could give me advice 'A to Z' I would be very grateful. Thank you.

You didn't mention what email program you use.

On my other computer that I want to get Outlook Express for my e-mail, how it downloaded?

OE is a part of XP, and you already have it.

Go to control panel | Add/Remove programs. Add/Remove Windows components. Make sure Outlook Express is checked.

Still nothing on the desktop? Copy this:

    c:\Program files\outlook express\msimn.exe

Start | Run and paste it in. Ok.

Now go to control panel | Set access to programs and settings by default and OE set as default and then you should have the shortcut.
  • I have Windows XP Home Edition and use Outlook Express for my e-mail. Is there a way to copy/send e-mail, favorite contacts and my photos on a Flash key?

I have Windows XP Home Edition and use Outlook Express for my e-mail. Is there a way to copy/send e-mail, favorite contacts and my photos on a Flash key?

Open the address book in the old identity and file | Export | Address book (wab) to any location on your HARD drive that is easy for you. The office is very well. Then drag that to the flash drive.

In IE: File | Import and export | Export to a file. Check Favorites | Next | Next | Navigate to a folder or the desktop and export. Drag the folder in the flash player.

For photos, just right-click on the folder and drag it to the USB and copy here.

Lately I often can't get into my Outlook email.  I know that I can use Hotmail, but I need my address book. I know that it has to see with the Qwest no longer carring MSN.   Can you tell me how to recover or to carry it?

The address book is a file with an extension of wab file.  Search for *.wab and then you can click on it to open it.  You can then go to file | Export | Address book, then save it as a csv file.  To import into Hotmail, as in this case: www.windowslivehelp.com because it is where are the experts of Hotmail.

  • How to download and install outlook express for free

How to download and install outlook express for free

You do not have. OE has never been a stand-alone email client. You are asking this in a XP forum. You have XP? If you do, you have Outlook Express. If you are using XP, what is your problem with OE?

If you do not OE, maybe this will help.

Right click on the desktop | New | Shortcut. Go to the * c:\program files\outlook express\msimn.exe *. Click next | Click Finish.  It will be a new shortcut on the desktop.

  • I use OUtlook Express for e-mail. Night that suddenly disappeared from the value of a full year of emails - for example from October 2011 to the today October 2012. How can I get back them?

I have been using Outlook Express 6 for more than 20 years without a single problem so far. Value of a full year of emails has disappeared all of a sudden my box but all e-mail messages seem to be always in place of my sent folder.

How can I recover these e-mails Inbox?

Two reasons the most common for what you describe is disruption of the compacting process, (never touch anything until it's finished), or bloated folders. More about that below.

Why OE insists on compacting folders when I close it? :
    http://www.insideoe.com/FAQs/why.htm#compact

    Why mail disappears:
    http://www.insideoe.com/problems/bugs.htm#mailgone

    Recovery methods:

If you are running XP/SP3, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.

To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.

Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.

First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.

If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.

If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.

If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:

DBXpress run in extract disc Mode is the best chance to recover messages:
    http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/default.aspx

    And see:

    http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#4

A general warning to help avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They finally are damaged. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:
    http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

    And backup often.

  • How to configure outlook express for hotmail = Icannot sending spare part.

I had to have a laptop but have a problem with it. Hope someone can help.

I can send emails via hotmail, no problem. But when I try to send attachments the recipient receives an error message saying: could not read.

When I tried to configure hotmail/outlook, asked me for some program codes | don't have no or understand.

I'm a newbie to computer jargon. Please help if you can - many thanks.

    Hi Malcolm,

    1. What is the file format of the attachments that you send?

    2. What is the exact error message when you try to configure Outlook Express with your Hotmail account?

    3. are you having the same problem with other accounts?

4 program are. which codes you referring?

To open the attachments, the recipient must have the software file installed in the computer. Without the software, recipient may not be able to open the files.

  • I had a problem with Outlook express for about two weeks I canoe delete most messages

I have outlook express do not know which edition, but I have family xp I can't delete most messages for about Patrick weeks could have been the last automatic update, how do I fix this I tried to use a recent patch, and he said: I didn't need it im guessing that I need to cancel the update

It wasn't the update. You have corruption of dbx files.

Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox (if you can) and move the messages you want to record off deleted items, and sent items. Locate the OE message store and then close OE.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the Deleted Items.dbx and Sent Items.dbx files and delete them. New files will be created automatically when you open OE.

Compact all folders as described below.

To avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=903095

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

  • The upgrade to Windows 7 using Outlook Express for email

I am currently using Windows XP pro, and considering the purchase of a new PC which has Windows 7 installed. I use Outlook Express as my email program. What would be the procedure to "migrate" my address book and outgoing emails from Outlook EXpress in Windows 7.

Thanks for any help - local retailers just say it may be possible, but not sure about the process.

Windows 7 doesn't have a native email client integrated as previous versions of Windows, so you can decide what email client you use first.

  • Connect my e-mail yahoo for Outlook Express for Windows XP

I followed the instructions in the wizard, but when I start Outlook, it evokes a box that says: "enter network password". In this box, it lists my server as being: pop.mail.yahoo.com. It then lists my user name (which is OK for yahoo), then he asks for my network password. I get my yahoo password, and nothing happens. He brings just to the top of the same box, as if my password is not their looking for. Also, when I try to send a piece of mail, it does not send in FACT, but it puts in the 'Outbox '. When I go to close Outlook, he asks me if I really want to close it, because I have letters in my Outbox.

Thanks in advance for your comments!

We are talking about Outlook or Outlook Express? You mention both.

If it's a US or CA, Yahoo account, and that you are not subscribed to Yahoo Mail Plus, then you cannot access the account in Outlook Express.

  • Deletion of e-mail in Outlook Express for Web server

I have Outlook Express 6 and AT & T/Yahoo email on the web.  I love the speed of using Outlook Express 6 to delete the mails in the Inbox (the capability of listening more double glazing of emails).  How can I delete the emails in Outlook Express to synchronize the deletion of the email in my Yahoo mail server?  AT & T/Yahoo is my default e-mail account.  Outlook Express should be the default e-mail program to use this function?  Removal of e-mails in Outlook Express removes not email from Yahoo, even if Outlook Express is set to 'Empty messages from the folder items deleted leaving' and the delivery has been set to "remove the server after deleting in deleted items.  Would appreciate any help.

I believe that OE should be set as default to make this work. Try just to test it.

Control Panel | Add/Remove programs. Set Program Access and Defaults. Custom + down arrow | Select the option for Outlook Express.
