Outlook express sending same email over and over again... keeps an email to outbok, looks like it may not be placed in "sent items"... Help

Outlook express email

Always there?

Create a new Outbox and sent items folder.

Follow these steps for the Outbox and sent items after you move the messages you want to save to a local folder that you create.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the Outbox.dbx and Sent Items.dbx file and remove them. New files will be created automatically when you open OE.

To avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:
http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=903095

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

In tools | Options | Maintenance: Uncheck Compact messages in the background box and let it unchecked. {N/a if you use XP/SP2 or SP3}.

  • Outlook express sends Amazon emails in the trash?

    Hey smart people.
I need your help please. During the month last Outlook Express suddenly began to send Amazon and Ebay emails directly in the folder "deleted".  Of course, this means that if I'm not careful, I could miss important emails. I have no rules set up message to tell Outlook Express to do that, with those who are clean, emails that are not in the list of 'blocked sender. Any ideas would be welcome.

    Thank you very much

    Graham.

These messages would end at amazon.com and ebay.com, correct? See if you can find them in senders blocked in this way.

OE | Tools | Message rules | List of blocked senders. Highlight the first address on the list. Click: Edit | Type in the address you want to remove. (Amazon.com) invites: "this address already exists, are you sure you want to replace it? Click Yes. The address will now be at the top of the list. Remove it.

In the message rules, if you have a delete it or move generally deleted items, check them carefully. If you have a rule for example that removes zon.com or thebay.com, they will also remove the messages from Amazon and eBay.

Outlook Express 6, Windows XP SP 3

Problem: send an email, I get an error message and the email is not put in the sent items folder while the email (and attachments, if any) are successfully delivered to the recipient.

The full error message is always useful, but I'm sure you have damaged dbx files.

Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox and then create new folders to send and sent items box after having moved the messages you want to save to a local folder that you create.

Some messages do not conform to the standards of the Internet in the sense that they cannot be returned intact by their transmission.  The way around this is to use Message | Until the attachment, then they will be properly transmitted, since they will be attached.

You probably have too much in your Inbox.

    1. Move messages that you see in the user created folders.
    2. OE backup.
    3. Close and open OE.

When Outlook Express 6 detects emails from a name in the right column indicates the folder in which it is in. How can you tell which folder this folder is located in?

OE does not have the capacity to tell you where the folder is located in the folder hierarchy.  You can select different trees under local folders to find what subfolder is and what kind of tree it is under.  Unless folders.dbx is corrupted (which happens a bit), then OE will not create folders for you.  If folders.dbx is corrupt or not, I would suggest that you backup the files and the registry (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#6) before things become corrupt, because you seem to have a complex organization from your e-mail folders.

  • Outlook Express, loss of emails from entry

Outlook Express, 3 new emails have been consulted, then all previous emails and read not reading disappeared by simply clicking on the following email address. The last 3 emails remained, and everything was lost.

On 'search' for ".dbx", found "Inbox (1). dbx", containing 3 current input emails and the"box of Inbox.dbx"which seems to contain all of the lost emails.

How one to retrieve all emails "input"? Some files not lost anything else and no file added to 'delete '. Software "Outlook Repair Kit" would solve the problem?  If so who? The system uses - Windows XP Professional SP3 and Microsoft Outlook Express 6.

You can do a right click on the Inbox in the folder list and access the properties to see what real file is using OE.  It seems as if the original Inbox.dbx box has been corrupted, so OE made a new one called Inbox (1) .dbx he uses now.   Before you do anything in the inbox.dbx file, make a copy in the case where the messages are still inside.  Then you can try to import as Bruce suggested (see also www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#imp1).  But if you try and import it and its corrupt and there messages, OE can erase all content, so make sure you do a first backup (you should back up the store of the entire message at this stage).

Also, check your Inbox and the message store to a file inbox.bak, which is a backup, if it exists and may contain lost messages.  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2

    Hello

can you write here, how large are the files of Outlook Express data? (specifically Sent Items.dbx )

These files has the limit of 2 GB and are stored:

    C:\Documents and Settings\#USERNAME#Settings\Application Data\Identities\ {unique hexadecimal string} \Microsoft\Outlook Express

where #USERNAME # is your username.

Here is some information on the DBX files:

    http://www.ABF-soft.com/dbx-file.shtml

If the file 'Envoyes.dbx' has size 2 GB, that Outlook Express can not move e-mail sent in this file and, therefore, the email are always send over and over again...
