Hello, cthor

I am pleased to offer you some suggestions, if you need help you can go to the website of Microsoft Office technical support on the following link to help to solve your problem: http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/FlyoutOverview.mspx

Try disabling add-ons that can be loaded.

  1. Start Outlook 2003.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  3. On the other tab, do one of the following:
    • Delete the COM add-ins To do this, follow these steps:

      1. Click on Advanced Options.
      2. In the Advanced Options dialog box, click COM add-ins.
      3. In the available add-ins list, click to clear the check box for the add-ins installed.
      4. Click OK to close the COM add-ins dialog box.
    • Remove add-ins in Add-in Manager. To do this, follow these steps:
      1. Click Add-In Manager.
      2. Click to uncheck the box of all installed add-ins that are listed in the Add-in Manager dialog box.
      3. Click OK.
  4. Click OK to close the Advanced Options dialog box.
  5. Click OK to close the Options dialog box.

Notes

  • If you have multiple COM add-ins, and you want to determine the COM add-in that is causing the problem, use the previous steps to click to select a check box for a COM add-in Then, use Outlook normally for several days.
  • If you don't live symptoms after using Outlook for several days, use the previous steps to select a different COM add-in until you find the COM add-in that is causing these problems.
  • After you have determined the COM add-in that is causing the problem, contact the vendor for the COM add-in to determine if an update is available

Let us know if that helps.

Is it possible to use Outlook 2007 in Microsoft Office 2003? I use Office 2003 at home and work, but I noticed that my iPhone and Google can interface with 2007 more easily. If I buy Outlook 2007, can I install it on Outlook 2003? I have no interest in installing Office 2007 because it would create havoc in the transfer of documents among my peers and co-workers.

  • "Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook" error message when you try to click on a name or contact us on a Web site to send a msg email on Outlook/microsoft office 2003

"Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook" error message when you try to click on a name or contact us on a website to send an email on Outlook/microsoft office 2003 Vista OS msg. My laptop came with Microsoft Office 2007 TRIAL version, but I already had Microsoft Office Pro 2003, so loaded on when I got it almost a year ago. My trial expired months ago... but never uninstalled cause 2003 worked. Then I wanted to do something in WORD and kept pulling up the 2007 trial and was confusing, so I sent the 2007 trial stuff to recycle bin, but not yet the uninstall. Since then all of a sudden I started to get this error msg. I can open OUTLOOK very well... BUT I don't even use OUTLOOK at all. I send from comcast.
    1. How can I get rid of this error?
    2. does anyone know how I can get my comcast open up when I go to a website to webmaster option instead of defaulting to outlook? And I already checked, "set as my default" is NOT enabled in outlook.
    Help, please!

1 update - update of security for Microsoft Office 2003 (KB976382)

    Error details: Code 646

A vulnerability of security in Microsoft Office 2003 that could allow arbitrary code to run when opening a file modified for malicious purposes. This update resolves this vulnerability.

2 Update - update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter (KB981725)

    Error details: Code 646

This update provides the filter of junk e-mail in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 a more current definition of which e-mail messages should be considered junk e-mail

I have the problem with this... I couldn't update this update. How can I rectify this?

Sorry, you have problems getting your patches installed. I have a number of things for you to look at.  First of all, your Background Intelligent Transfer Services set to Automaticand started and Windows Update ? You can check these settings by typing services.msc in the search box of the start menu.

Since they are all Office updates, you can do a repair for office function.  To do this, click the Start button, type programs and features and click the enter key. Right click on Microsoft Office 2007 and choose change.  Choose fix and continue.  Microsoft Office will attempt to fix any problems there (this will) take a few minutes to run.

Sometimes in order to get patches to install correctly, you must perform these tasks manually.  Here are the links where you can download and run the patch:

    KB976382

    KB981725

If this does not work, try to run the Microsoft OneCare safety scanner.  Sometimes it will solve problems of hidden registry, or can clear the virus that can prevent the installation of the patches: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/whatsnew.htm. Click full service scan, and then Quick scan (full scan takes a long time to complete). Try the patches.

Hope this helps to get your installed patches.

The malicious software removal tool does not use an installer. As a general rule, when you run the malicious software removal tool, it creates a temporary directory named at random on the root of the drive of the computer. This directory contains several files, and it includes the Mrtstub.exe file. Most of the time, this folder is automatically deleted after the tool to the end of execution or the next time that you start the computer. However, this folder may not always be automatically deleted. In these cases, you can manually delete this file, and this has no adverse effect on the computer.

Visit the Microsoft Solution Center and antivirus security for resources and tools to keep your PC safe and healthy. If you have problems with the installation of the update itself, visit the Microsoft Update Support for resources and tools to keep your PC updated with the latest updates.

  • Windows XP and Office 2003?

I took my PC repair and now I have Windows XP and Office 2003 on my computer. Should I have them both? Something sure ' nuf slowed down my computer. I paid almost as much to repair I did for my PC. It came loaded with XP.  Thank you very much for your help!

Microsoft Office, including "Office 2003"is a previous version, is a 'suite' or a collection of programs, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Powerpoint, etc.

If you delete "Office 2003", you'll remove all of these programs... that you may or may not care.

You are interested in the creation of documents (paper) or reading documents created by others? If so, you'll probably want to keep your Word.

You care no doubt on the use of sheets (Excel) spreadsheet or presentations (Powerpoint), but again, it is to you.

A potential problem is your email.  One of the programs included in Microsoft Office 2003 is "Outlook 2003", which is an e-mail program that you can or cannot use.  If you are using Outlook 2003 for your e-mail, you will be no longer able to do so, if you completely remove Office 2003.

If you were my grandmother, I would say that you do nothing unless your computer is low on hard disk space: click on 'My computer' and when it opens up, do a right click on 'disk Local (c)' and select Properties; "as long as the 'free space' (shown in magenta) is more that about 15% of the 'ability', you have nothing to worry about).

If you see a screen like this, I would say also that you have BOTH boxes down achecked and then click on the OK button (it will speed up your computer a bit and also free up disk space).  Whatever you do, DO NOT CHECK the box compress things.
