  If its simple settings on the overall picture, such as the increase in brightness or color temp correction, you can do it in first. If you have to isolate parts of the image to correct the lighting or color casts/time, you need to use the secondary tools. There are some effects of color on the front that offer secondary commands, but the advanced tools to speedgrade may perform better. I would recommend starting with first and learn the effects in there, they could be all you need. There are plenty of tutorials on youtube for first.

  I put t know what the flashing red LED could mean, but it looks like a HARD disk head crash. Perhaps you could find some details in the user manual that the flashing light means.
