OWB 10 g 2 distributed Installation

Hello!

I need to install OWB on a Linux server. The point is that the target database is in another box, also hosted on Linux, in a RAC server active.

Do I need to install the OWB binaries on the server Oracle RAC?
As far as I know, it is not mandatory. All I have to do is create the repository on the target database remotely, and once I need to start the service control Centre, I want to emphasize to the target database.

We have two different standards (development and Production). I know that only Rep would be enough, but our clients want two different repositories.
How this scenario will affect the behavior of control center?
Is it mandatory to start/stop the Service control centre to switch between development and production repositories?
Everything else about this type of installation?

Thank you!

Hi Marcos,

for scenarios 1 and 2, it is not necessary to install the files on your production server binary owb. Simply ensure that the control center service (which connects to the repositoy prod) rotating during a deployment. It is not necessary for the performance of mappings.

Even if no binary owb are on the server, there is a database of job (created during installation of the repository) who tries to start the service control center on the db host. Of course, he fails and creates a few mistakes that can confuse your DBA. But no harm is done. You can manually disable db work.

Kind regards
Carsten.

  • IAAS distributed Installation

    Hello people,

Our loose in a production environment and rwe are considering HA is an important aspect here. I have read through the docs of reference etc. architecture and has been able to put a bet in bulk, bulk DB and vRO. When it comes to IAAS components, I'm a bit confused.

Here's what I predicted right now...

1 VIP for the entire stack of IAAS component

2 knots with all IAAS components installed in each of them

1 remote SQL DB that gets contacted 2 nodes above.

Is this a good approach or should I separate with 2 VIP and 4 nodes, a set for service Web IAAS and other together for service IAAS Bishop?

Simply put, we are looking for 1 VIP and 2 knots with all IAAS components in each of these 2 nodes. Please suggest how I can achieve this. Appreciate your answers.

    Kind regards

The distributed installation is more availability for scale. As Steve noted, the Manager is active/passive and requires a failover of the interactive.

Availability is an interesting topic... which I spend a lot of time discussing rather vigorously with lots of people. Availability is all about moving your congestion point somewhere else. In this case, it's going to be your SQL Server (that you indicated that there is only one of). Similarly, are your highly available books? You did not mention the vRA device, which, if clustered needs an instance external postgres. Of course, you want both of them as well...

Once you have passed the vRA management components, we start getting into the availability of endpoint.

You see where I'm going here right?

TLDR version: identify your availability requirements and if you can hit with VMware HA then not to complicate your environment.

  • Endpoints of IaaS host in the vCO under a Distributed Installation vCAC

I have a question about the possible configurations of a system of vCAC under a "distribured facility", as shown in this part of the "Installation and Configuration" document .

My question is if there would always be a case where an instance of vCO would have more than one end point "vCAC Infrastructure Administration"?  I'm trying to understand the architecture of this distributed installation and whether or not it has implications for this issue.  At this point, it seems to me he's still only going to be a unique IaaS associated with an instance given vCAC. I understand that there may be several IaaS components, but the scheme suggests that the load balancer creates a single point of entry, it would involve a single end point in the vCO.

    Details of welcome points.

Yes that's correct.  When you add an endpoint IaaS to vCO as long as you use the name of the load balancer to have it then just that.  Yes same also distributed all IaaS components (MGR or Web) would be grouped together behind that load balanced name, so even if you had the IaaS web component installed on 5 VM they would all be behind that load balanced name.

  • vCAC 6.0 Distributed Installation and local PostgreSQL DB?

I'm more the vCAC 6.0 for the distributed installation documentation and it is not clear on the conditions of implementation for vCAC clustered devices and their databases.

If you install multiple vCAC devices and set up as a cluster, it is recommended that configure you an external cluster of PostgreSQL "for high availability and failover", but it does not say whether or not it is necessary.

Is it possible to configure a cluster vCAC environment without using an external PostgreSQL cluster, or is it a requirement of this configuration?

    I understand.

    In the documentation here:

    vCloud Documentation Center Automation

By default, it says "the vCloud Automation Center device is configured to use an embedded PostgreSQL database. For highavailability and the large deployments, an external database is required. »

    In the architecture section distributed:

    vCloud Documentation Center Automation

They show that a deployment of high availability of the vCloud Automation Center device consists of two or more.

I would take these statements as meaning that no, you can not set a vACA clustered deployment using the internal postgreSQL and you are required to use an external instance of postgreSQL when configuring the vACA in a redundant deployment.

I have not tested in the laboratory yet but will follow up to this post when I do.

  • vCloud vCAC Automation unit distributed Installation Architecture Center second device does not record services

I work at the vCAC 6.0 installation in a distributed architecture for a production environment.  I have deployed the device of the identity, configuration Netscaler for balancing the load, configure external postgreSQL, followed vCloud Automation Center Documentation until you restart the vcac-server the vcac appliance second service and it never starts or registers the services on the second device vcac.

The first aircraft arrives as it should and works through the just right load balancer.  After restarting the service vcac-server and 20 minute wait I can't to the second application directly bypassing the load balancer to access the page of the shell-ui-app.  Connect to the console of the second application I tail'ed the output of /var/log/vcac/catalina.out and used netstat - year to view the ports used.  Port 443 just never came up.

I have filed a ticket with support but thought someone might have fallen on this and can help in the meantime.

The problem has been resolved with the GA vCAC 6.1 version and using the HA tab for additional devices.

For all of you who read this, I was able to solve the problem.

Through all the blogs I read, I did sort of a stupid Setup 4.5.2 on server 2012R2 error.  DON'T, DON'T.

To uninstall the 4.5.2 version of server 2012R2 if you install like I did, go to programs and features, switch view installed updates and remove the update for Windows KB2934520

After doing this, I was able to smooth sailing through the installation.  I realized that halfway through my troubleshooting, but considering the compatibility of .net usually I don't think it would be a huge problem and I though that surely there would be a vmware KB on such a stupid mistake but apparently not.

  • Boot a order a distributed installation?

Y at - it no KBs officials that show the correct start of a distributed infrastructure vCAC order?

I just checked with the fountain of knowledge VMware sat next to me and there is apparently no official KB for this.

The answer varies depending on the version to a certain extent. The order recommended for vCAC is:

    1. service active Directory

    2. primary SSO

    3. secondary SSO

    4 MS SQL

5 external DB PostgreSQL (by v6.0.x)

6 primary vCAC device (for v6.1 + which assumes that the PostgreSQL DB internal is used and is the master)

7 secondary vCAC device (for v6.1 + which means that the internal PostgreSQL DB is used and it is the slave)

8 servers Web IaaS (they are active / active)

    9 IaaS Manager server (active)

10 IaaS Manager server (standby - of course, the Manager service itself is not start)

    11 DEMs (in any order)

    12. agents (in any order)

The order of the components of Windows should not matter too much, and of course the foregoing assumes that MSSQL and the Postgres DB for vCAC devices are toward the top.

  • Essbase 11.1.2.1 in distributed installation problems

    Hello

I have installed and configured the EPM 11.1.2.1 system in 2 machines:

Server 1: Foundation Services, planning, HPS, Reporting and analysis, calculation Manager, Essbase administration Services, EAS Console
Server 2: Services Foundation, Essbase Server

Services are running so far. I don't a not restart the essbase server machine still because I struggled in the previous installation and could not start all over again... but I reinstalled and configured everything and it works, the service is in place and Essbase.exe is running.

I plugged in the Regional service Console, however, you press Add Essbase-Essbase servers on server and I had 2 nodes: EssbaseCluster-1 and < server2hostname >: 1423. I choose the 2nd option and tried to connect and I couldn't. The connection timed out waiting for Essbase Agent, so I went back to Server 2 and run tool Diagnostics EMP, which gave me the following error message:

Validation using the MaxL Essbase server startup
Error: Essbase server was not correctly outsourced.
Recommended action: check Essbase server is started.

I don't know what I have to do. I have no error during installation or configuration, or at least not a visible. Need some advice how to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

    Thank you

If you can connect and configure the essbase users through shared services then you should be fine.
It is common to see the name of the cluster in shared services.

    See you soon

  • Portal of comments in a distributed installation

    Hi all

How does the feedback portal or portals sponsor in a published environment where two or more Ssnp are running individually. It is is,

    1. is it ISE redirects the user to the portal even comments url /guestportal or PSN2 FULL domain name > / guestportal based on which NHP receives the request for a n?

    2. how to set up a generic url for the client so that users will not see the and saw a url type, example abc.com.us/guestportal without worrying POSN demand?

    Thank you

    G

The generic option dimensionnera not through multiple Ssnp, I came across this issue when 1.2 is out because the session id is not replicated to all NHPS. If you want to use a generic url comments your option would be to adapt the generic url to guest1.domain.xxx and guest2.domian.xxx, then you can create the results of a separate authorisation for these static hostnames. In your authorization policy, you will need to place a condition so that the correct generic url is triggered based on what PSN received the initial request of mab.

I did have the chance to try groups node to see if it will work, but which requires the designation to be on the same segment of L2.

  • Warehouse Builder Installation - Service Control Center

I am new to Oracle so please excuse me if I ask a stupid question. We have a database of the 'target' Oracle on a server that will be our database of ODS containing the repository of the warehouse. Based on this document http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31080_01/doc/install.102/b28224/reqs01.htm#BGBIDBHJ installation, I would like to ' Builder with Client/Server application traditional warehouse "to realize and install only the 'Control Center Service' on the data warehouse database server.

Can you please point me in the right direction to get the documentation or expose the basic steps?

Install all components of storage/storage at all on the ODS database server?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

you need the owb on the client software to run on the client design center and you need software owb on the database server to run the service control center there.
Using the wizard of repository installed on the server to create the repository automatically configures the database to run the control center service automatically. If you use the one installed on the client, you will need to provide the path to the software owb on the server during installation.

In addition, there is one type of owb software that contains the client and server components.

    Good luck
    Carsten.

  • Reconfigure the EMP for SSL

So after a change in policy, society has imposed a requirement to activate ssl for hyperion environment.

There are a few methods that we did research

    1 reconfiguration Weblogic using Keytool.

    User - https - > WebLogic

    2. activation of SSL in OSH. Who has three scenarios

    a. the user -> httpsESS- http - >weblogic

    b. the user http->OSH- https - >weblogic

    c. the user -> httpsESS- https - >weblogic (which is rare)

    3. termination of SSL to the SST and put in place of a firewall,

User --- > Firewall - https (all other ports will be blocked, with the exception of the RDP, OSH (19000) and Essbase (1423 & the range 32 k - 33 k)->OHS toweblogic )

Now this gets confusing that all of these methods require that redeploy us the application and is not what we want. The simplest method I could think is configure the EPM again using config.bat file and run the Setup to activate the SSL protocol.

Can someone give me some suggestion please?

    Make your choice amongst

Easy steps for Configuration complete SSL in Enterprise Performance Management 11.1.2.x - distributed on two servers (Doc ID 1391487.1) installation

Easy steps to set up complete SSL on a non distributed Installation (single Server Installation) - EPM 11.1.2.2.xxx (Doc ID 1532416.1)

Some EASY STEPS to set UP OFFLOADING SSL WITH OSH Web SERVER of EMP 11.1.2.x (Doc ID 1530169.1)

The simplest option would be the SSL offloading on layer of network load balancing or terminate SSL at the SST.

  • ATP assignment together

There are two profiles MRP: ATP set assignment and MSC: ATP value assignment.  How can I determine that one is actually used in the management of the orders?  ATP should be based on data collected.

I want to be able to use areas and areas which is available in the supply planning advanced settings.  We CAWC under license, but we still use the MRP.

Found this note an Oracle VCP Sourcing white paper about MRP profile: ATP value assignment

ATP assigning the value to use when scheduling of orders for ATP based on collected data.

Required for ATP based on data collected at the sourcing information and provide correct results.

This set of default assignment in the investigation of the ATP when you access form the order management application.

In a distributed installation, it would be setup on the Source EBS instance (not not needed on the instance of the Destination of APS - see MSC: ATP setting)

If you use advanced region/area of Sourcing that is configured in Advanced Supply Chain Planner only, then you should leave this NULL profile and use

MSC: ATP assignment defined to provide ATP with assignment to be used.

  • Deliver the new addition VCenter

I have a new VCenter to add to vRealize 6.2.1. I add the endpoint with success, I create a new group of fabric, but I do not see any cluster managed by the Vcenter.

The service account has full administrator on the Vcenter rights, I tried another account (also with rights)

I waited several days in the case of an out of stock

Another something thing to note is that I have old heap still present in the vRealize that have been deleted a long time ago in existing VCenters, I have still two clusters reported for one who has been renamed, the one with the old name and one with the new name.

Inventory of the Temapltes seems to work very well on existing Vcenters.

    Any ideas?

Just to understand where you are at. You have 1 end point of vCenter already created using the proxy agent that you originally installed. Is the name on the vCenter agent proxy? Then, you need to add an another vCenter. It's one of so that you do not see the inventory. So, you have installed another proxy agent and called it... vCenter2? When initial installed did you do a distributed installation or the installation of the components of the IAAS?

vRA will not get rid of the clusters, he saw even if they are deleted or renamed. Take a look at this KB deletion of an endpoint in vRealize Automation fails with the error: this endpoint is used by the compute resources # and # storage paths and cannot delete a procedure to remove inactive hosts of vRA.

  • 5.5 upgrade Question

We have in place upgrade from 4.1 to 5.1, with all components of vCenter installed on Windows 2008 server except Update Manager and SQL server on separate virtual machines. 2 years ago we currently have about 40 clusters/200 esxi hosts/1200 virtual machines. We need to upgrade to 5.5 U2 envirorment. We must also build the hybrid cloud from this infrastructure. I would like to know what is the best way to improve the environment like this one where we use vSS not vDS, simple installation was used for 5.1 upgrade. do we need to set the SSO, web client, Inv. srvs and vcenter servers on separate etc.do we use linked modes, heartbeat etc. If we vDS is better than vSS, we need to upgrade with existing configurations that leter migrate vSS to vDS?

On the vCenter component distributed installation, take a look at the following picture of this document: http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/vcenter/VMware-vCenter-Server-5.5-Technical-Whitepaper.pdf

And vSS to vDS migration, if you have multiple physical NICs in your host, you can migrate without any down time, take a look at the following articles:

Migration of vSS for a VDS exchanges

We configure the DTC 'Local' on the vCAC-IaaS and 'Grouped DTC' on the MSSQL Cluster with the recommendation of VMware. The Test with DTCPing utility is successful.

Someone at - it an idea?

You deploy vCAC in a distributed installation? You must start the service and open the ports for DTC between MS SQL DB, the IaaS Web Server and the server of IaaS is port 135 + port range of level high for CPP. Is what I did too, since the traffic in my environment is strongly protected by a firewall, to limit the port range that DTC use on windows, in my case for 1000 ports machines, so, for example, that you need to open port 135 and 6000-6999. Traffic must be opened between the components of the IaaS and host SQL (Windows servers), not the server SQL itself. Also remember that the range cannot be too small.

A simple statement can be found here:http://blogs.technet.com/b/askcore/archive/2014/04/29/how-to-configure-msdtc-to-use-a-specific-port-in-windows-server-2012-2012r2.aspx in my case it was only steps up to 7, the registry key is automatically generated.
