Ive installed 10GEX and worked a little inside. Now, I work in the implementation of backup process. I want to set up a crotab to run the same script which is used through the GUI (Centos 5.4 - "RedHat"). I run the script manually with success.

Read on crontab, each user can have its own set of jobs. and by using the crontab-l command you can list the work in the queue of the user you are logged in as. The 'oracle' user exists, but I do not have a password for it... in order to log in to the operating system by using this user and set up a cron job under his name.

What is the right way to go? backup using the oracle user tasks? Can I know the oracle user - this would allow successful for the oracle user, crontab entry, or how to determine what is the password.

I could always change the oracle as a 'root' user password - but that would break something?

Thanks in advance for some background information (for you) and really need information for me.

    Hello

    (1) If you set the oracle user password, it do not affect DB or Apex.

    (2) if I understand correctly, default password is not set for the oracle user, so you can't use it to connect.
If you set the password using the passwd command, then you can log in with this username.

I'm planning to install and configure the EM grid control in my environment. How many agents I have to configure if I have several owners of software on any server for example oracle

    -oracle9 for Oracle 9i database
    -oracle10 for Oracle database 10 g 1
    -oracle102 for the Oracle 10 g 2 Server

    Server2:

Do I have to install 3 agents on each server (agent by the owner of the Oracle software) or do I have to install only 1 officer per server?

'crsctl stop crs' does not work in the single instance configuration.

  • x 230 mSATA SSD rescue and recovery

Hi everyone, I have a x 230 CTO on his way and read a bit about adding an mSATA SSD on the slot available under the palmrest.  In these forums I have seen a few posts here telling people that if they have 2 drives installed and want the software R & R, they should remove the drive planning on installing to.

Because I am a tinkerer and will probably be reformatting/imagery every two weeks or so, is there a best way to get right on the main hard drive or msata car machine to recover properly?  What to remove the disk from the boot order in the BIOS has not completed the R & R software?

Looking to avoid opening housing more that just the first time install.  I'd be interested to hear opinions on this.

    zachsandberg wrote:

Please see my clarification above in the previous comment.

    [Edit for clarification]

What I expect to do when getting the laptop is immediately create R & R discs and put it away as I did in the past.  I would replace the regular disk with a 2.5 SSD "and also add an mSATA player to test Linux.  Ideally, I would like never to have to open the computer again, however, it seems that I would need to make sure that the mSATA disk has been removed, if you are using the R & R media to fix an image of Windows 7 on SSD, 2.5 "at least with a particular R & r version.

I have reason to assume that regular Windows 7 or 8 media would be unaffected by the present?  say I downloaded the preview release of Windows 8, a USB key and went to install it.  I guess that the installer should treat my x 230 as any other PC with two drives and give me the visibility and the ability to format and install on a drive?  I'm just trying to determine if there is a design limitation of material or half-baked software Lenovo.

Here is where I am confused now, and maybe it's because I have a basic misunderstanding of what create R & R discs is doing.

Each Lenovo PC has partition hidden with a full installation of Windows, wrapped in or slipstreamed in Lenovo owners recovery software.  Discs R & R means that the Windows client software is to simply copy the contents of partition recovery through 3 or 4 CDs (or whatever the amount) for recovery if the hidden partition is destroyed or damaged in the future.

I understand that the drive letters are arbitrary and do not mean anything outside of windows, with two disks completely formatted, there is no letter to affect because there is no current Windows.  In this case, my suspicion is running from the SEC recovery software is automatically identify the hard drive with the SATA device number and restore the image of her without a choice to use other readers available system or in this case, is not purely and simply with an error.

    My condensed questions are:

    1. the my previous assumption is correct?

    2. how R & R works on Thinkpads with freshly formatted double OEM drives?

3 vanilla copies of Windows 7/8/Linux will be installed between the two discs without problem?

I think you're mostly right but let see if I can clarify

If there is something installed to the location of the hard drive (hdd or ssd) R & R will install on this disk. If you want R & R the mSATA reader then you need to remove all that is in the position of the hard drive.

If all you want to do is install Linux on the mSATA so there is no problem. The R & R will reinstall for the ssd, and then you can install what you want on the mSATA.

Make one installs own no problem, the only question tries to R & R anything other than what is in the location of the hard drive.

    Clarifies that the it?

    Hello

We have a server with version 11.2.0.3 databases configured with Oracle Restart. We want to upgrade to 11.2.0.4.5, but not all at once. For example 2 db this week, next week 2 more, etc. How is that possible? I installed the software crs only 11.2.0.4 and tried to run the configure script:

To set up the Infrastructure of grid for a stand-alone server, run the following command as the root user:

    /U01/app/11.2.0.4/grid/Perl/bin/perl-I/U01/app/11.2.0.4/grid/Perl/lib-I/U01/app/11.2.0.4/grid/CRS/install /u01/app/11.2.0.4/grid/crs/install/roothas.pl

To set up the Infrastructure of the network for a Cluster run the following command:

    /U01/app/11.2.0.4/grid/CRS/config/config.sh

This command launches the wizard of Configuration of grid Infrastructure. The wizard also supports silent operation, and the parameters can be passed via the response file that is available in the installation media.

    [root@grid]# /u01/app/11.2.0.4/grid/perl/bin/perl-I/u01/app/11.2.0.4/grid/perl/lib-I/u01/app/11.2.0.4/grid/crs/install /u01/app/11.2.0.4/grid/crs/install/roothas.pl

You must pass grid Infrastructure for a standalone server at 11.2.0.4 including ASM.

You cannot restart two Oracle running on the same server.

Then after IM for a server stand-alone aka Oracle Restart at 11.2.0.4, you can improve your database as its schedule.

Then, you must follow these steps:

1 install GI for a stand-alone server 11.2.0.4, you can choose the option to upgrade. (required). It will modernize Oracle Restart and ASM.

Restart Oracle of 11.2.0.3 will be automatically disabled.

    2. install Oracle Database 11.2.0.4

    3. upgrade of the database of 11.2.0.3 to 11.2.0.4

P.S Oracle Restart 11.2.0.4 support the same and prior Oracle database versions (for example 11.2.0.1, 11.2.0.2, 11.2.0.3, 11.2.0.4)

I recommend you uninstall this 11.2.0.4 of Oracle Restart installation and re - install 11.2.0.4 using the option of upgrade of GI.

now when I try to add the database in 12 c agent is not to find out.

    Thank you

Assuming that the database in question is an Oracle database, check that:

-The owner of the agent software can read the/etc/oratab or/var/opt/oracle/oratab file depending on the platform.
Note: For the discovery of database work, it is necessary to have an appropriate entry for the database in the oratab file.

-The owner of software agent (oracle) should be in the same group of BONES with the owner of database software (PHyp) to allow reading and enforcement officer some files in the database host.

  • When was my instance created

    Hello

I need to know about Red Hat Linux when my instance was created - for example, to change date or a Setup log that resists a place? I use Oracle 9.2.0.8 Ent.

ssddgreg, I will expand on what you said Paul. If you have access to the Oracle account whose root is then by setting the parameters $ORACLE_HOME and $ORACLE_SID you can connect to Oracle based on being Oracle without knowing the password. In fact, you don't have to be Oracle, just a member of the group owner OS software.

    sqlplus/nolog
    Connect / as sysdba
    --
-You should now be logged in as user SYS
-Any DBA privilege can issue ALTER USER IDENTIFIED BY password x
-to change the password of an account, including the user SYS
    --
    output

The OS TWO_TASK environment setting must not be set for the connection / to work.

You said there was a problem with the profile of Linux, but you need to maybe just set the environment manually. Normally, you do not want to automatically set the environment for the owner of Oracle. Settings can interfere with updates and patches. Generally, there is a defined local the Oracle environment script or oraenv is used:. oraenv SID

    Hello

It's strange (referring to different users).

Only reason I can think of, is that this was done "manually". Once the call racgons as root, the other time an owner oracle user/crs.
You have a domain and one without, also indicates a manual call to racgons. Otherwise, the two would be with or without.

What I recommend (and always done with my CAR), save it with and without domain as the owner of the crs (not root).

So delete all entries (racgons remove_config) probably once as root to get rid of the bad entry.

Then add them as crs/oracle user. Is the best with and without domain name (for each host):

    racgons add_config :
    racgons add_config .:

After that, you have to restart ONS to pick up the changes. Unfortunately this needs srvctl stop applications and startup applications (so a short downtime).

  • update owner CRS as a different user

    Hi all

    CRS/ASM 10R2 on HP - UX 11.31 upgrade to grid infrastructure 11 GR 2

I'm under RAC 10 g 2 (10.2.0.4) with CRS, ASM and the database as user 'oracle '.
We intend to move to GR 11, 2 and oracle's best practices recommend to separate the owner of the infrastructure of the network and the database.
We like to use "grid" user for the grid infrastructure and 'oracle' for the RAC database. But it seems that this best practice is for the new installation. According
    Oracle® grid infrastructure
    Installation Guide
    11g Release 2 (11.2) for HP - UX
    E17211-03

You must use the same owner who holds the CRS and ASM to do the upgrade and there is no work around.
    can someone please advise?
    Kind regards

The installation guide instructions seem to be clear enough. Annex F.4 of my grid installation guide Infrastruction he says "with 11g release Oracle Clusterware versions 1 and later, the same user who owned the Clusterware Oracle 10g software must perform the upgrade of the 11g of Oracle Clusterware. I don't see any leeway, so you must continue to use oracle as the owner of cluster and the owner of the RDBMS software.

The only alternative, I think, would be to dismantle the entire cluster and proceed with the installation of the Infrastructure of grid as you would with any new cluster. Personally, I doubt that it is worth. We use IDS separated for the database and cluster where I work, but it is certainly reasonable to combine these functions.
