P7-1414 Pavilion add second SATA Drive

Can I add a second SATA drive to a Pavilion P7-1414?

Here are the specifications of your desktop HP Pavilion p7-1414 and his card mother MSI MS-7778 (Jasmine). According to the specifications, there are two bays for disks 3.5 "HARD and two of ODD berries 5.25" in your computer. In addition, your computer has six SATA ports and can handle an aditional drive.

  • Adding a second SATA drive to e9250t

I would add a second ATA drive on my desk e9250t. I think that everything should be simple: the motherboard has two spare SATA connectors and several additional power connectors from the power supply. Should I change something in the settings of the BIOS (I have no manual for BIOS)? I don't want NO of RAID, just two separate internal SATA disks - I assume that Windows 7 will be assigned the next available drive letter to the new drive. Am I missing something? If someone else did and has knowledge to share, I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

You'll be fine. Installing the drive as it comes out of the retail packaging. Partition and format the new drive clean through the console/computer management disk management and it will assign the next drive letter as you state (or any other letter you choose).  Right click on "computer" and select "manage" and the console appears, select disk management. It will ask you to open the drive is OK, then format, then you can assign the drive letter. If you have any questions the BIOS are accessible with F10, but as long as the new drive is not bootable it will not interfere with the successful launch of Windows 7 since the original drive.

  • Add second hard drive to r50e

Hello, I want to add a second internal hard drive of my ThinkPad r50e. How can I do?

    Thank you:

    Gabor

You need to replace the DVD player with hard drive Bay series adapter (if you have a SATA drive, the new drives are SATA)

Here are the codes for this product:

    FRU:26R9246

    P / N:26R9247

This adapter works on T41 machine. Make sure you check if the card works on R50 I am not sure about this.

  • Qosmio G50 - 13R - add second HARD drive

    Hello

I want to upgrade my computer.
    Here are the numbers:

    Product name: Qosmio G50 - 13R
    Product version: PQG55E-05C04RFR
    Product series number: 89063721H

I have space for a second hard drive, but it is empty.
    No caddy, no connector.
But the Intel Rapid Storage detects an empty 4 internal port.

How to check what is the port?

I did some research and found a document on the substantive content of my computer. It says there is a connector on the motherboard for a second hard drive, here are a few references in the document:

CN1920 2nd SATA HDD (20 PIN) interface connector

Is that the motherboard of my computer (see reference above) has the CN1920 connector?
    How verified?

    Greetings.

There is a 2nd HDD bay because in the past, the Qosmio G50 is out with support for different hardware specifications and different hardware parts and obviously 2nd HARD drive Bay does not the HARD drive cable/connectors.

The Intel ICH9M South Bridge supports 4 integrated controllers serial ATA Host, so the chipset should be able to handle 4 devices SATA (2 x HDD, 1 x ODD, 1 x eSATA).

I searched on the internet a bit and discovered that the motherboard supports two controllers/connectors.
The first HARD drive must be connected to the CN1900 connector SATA (23pin) and the 2nd HARD drive must be connected to the CN1920 (20pin). The STRANGE is connected to CN1910 (13pin)

However, I think that it will not be very easy to update this unit with a 2nd HARD drive all must be dismantled and of course, you need compatible parts for these updates.

  • Qosmio X 70A - how to add second HARD drive

    Hello Forum,

    I own a X 70 A 11 Q Qosmio with a 1.5 T HARD drive.
I want to add a second HARD drive into the empty Bay.

Can someone me, Toshiba spare part is needed to mount the new HARD drive into the empty Bay?
Where can I get a spare part in Germany?

    Kind regards
    humaximizer

    Hello

All parts can be ordered from local authorized Toshiba maintainer.
Here is a page with all FSA available worldwide:
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/generic/ASP_SUPPORT/

But even if there is a 2nd HARD drive Bay, you must check if the Bay contains the HARD drive connector.
The fact is that not all models are equipped with the same motherboard, but with the same substantive coverage that contain 2nd HARD drive Bay.

By the way: what you need is a kind of drive bracket HARD 2.5 ". Something like [this | http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/images/TOS-X505%20sm.jpg]

  • Problems after installing the second SATA drive in Windows 7

I just install a second SATA hard drive in Windows 7. Currently, I use only a processor AMD Athlon X 2 4800 with 3 GB of RAM, Windows 7 64 - bit, installed on a 400 GB Samsung SATA drive and have two (a pioneer and a Liteon) DVD burners.

System worked fine until I put in the new drive. Previously, I had hung as such discs: SATA1 was the existing 400Go drive, SATA2 and 3 were two DVD burners (don't ask me why, I have 2, will remove one of them, if that's the problem).

Installed the new HARD in the SATA4 drive. Booted up, saw the new drive in the BIOS, but Windows does not see it until I went to disk management, a drive letter assigned and formatted etc. Also, I swapped the drive letters so I had all of the HARD drive (I have my 400 GB split into two readers via the partition) and C: D: E: F: and G:, DVD players.

Started, began to transfer data from D: to the new E:, and Windows crashes. No message error, everything freezes. Need to reset, and then allow Windows to check for errors etc. Return to Windows, same case again. I swapped the SATA cables so that SATA1 and 2 are the HARD drives and SATA3 and 4 are DVD players. Reboot, same case.

What I am doing wrong? Or what should I do? I don't even have to start the transfer of data I just let WIndows running for 2 minutes and it automatically hangs again.

If someone could help me as soon as POSSIBLE please, it would be fantastic. Thank you!

I've been in contact with the provider, and Yes, that will take it back for Exchange. They gave me some ideas to try first, I'm going to do tonight; They asked me to check if the HARD disk is running on series complete ATA (SATA) mode and to enable the DMA if he asks me to. Otherwise, they said, try the fail-safe mode. Don't know if any of them are currently enabled etc but will find tonight.

All else fails, I take that back! Simply means a 3 hours trip to Melbourne to make...

Thanks again guys for your help.

    Michael.

  • Configuration of the bios/add another SATA drive

I just added a 500 GB Sata Drive in my Dell8300. I cloned it with the info of the Sata 120 GB drive came with the system.

I left the orig. cable/HDD attached as he was to the Mboard and plugged the new drive in the free sata connection.

When I go into the bios, the only way I can get the new boot disk is to turn off the device of the orig. If this isn't the case, it will boot to the old drive.

I guess I have to swap the cables on the sata connector of Mboard for him to start again disc? Or, can I I put in place in the Bios to do? (I tried, but in vain)

Also, when I get it started properly, how can I do to get Windows XP to show both drives in Explorer? At present, if I have two drives is enabled in the bios, it will start on the old disk, but not to show new disc in Explorer...

Just a guess here, but I wonder if, because the old drive has been cloned on the new drive, I have to rename the drive letters to get to show?

Motherboard is Dell 0W2562 and BIOS: Dell Computer Corporation A03 19/09/2003

    TIA

  • How can I add second hard drive to a Pavilion a6838f? cc = us

I have an a6838f of Pavilion with a 500 GB SATA hard drive.  I also have an a6838f where the motherboard was fried by a nearby lightning strike.  Can someone tell me how to transplant the hard disk of the machine of death in the other as a second hdd.  I can find only one wire with two SATA power connectors that are currently in use (CD drive and HARD drive).  Thank you.

    richiej,

That PSU (5188-2625) shown here http://www.power-on.com/ea350u.html is supposed to have 4 Sata power leads, 2 on each leg of cable. See the PDF file, PF - PI http://www.power-on.com/images/mechanical/ea350u.pdf

If search you and trace the tracks, you might find these other Sata power cards.

BTW, Frank meant molex to Sata.

  • Adding a second SATA drive to Desktop Pavilion m9070.uk

    Hello

I inherited a new 1 TB WD SATA, but there naked (without cables and screws), and I want to add this to my office, already with a 500 GB WD SATA.

I don't see any instructions on HP or this forum, so can I check some basic assumptions?

    (a) I need to buy a WD SATA cable to the motherboard? (no other wiring needed?)

    (b) if I want this to be the boot drive, then I connect, format as additional disk, install Vista and then (somehow) change that to be 'Master' - correct?

    Other printable suggestions welcome.

    Thank you

    Tony

How to install the new hard drive.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01176906

To make the new hard drive your boot drive, you'll need to make your recovery disks. You must connect the new drive for the existing sata cable to make your primary drive.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00882383

Then install the OS on the new drive.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00814731

You will need another sata cable. Also, look on the power supply and make sure you have a spare for the secondary hard drive power cable. After you install the operating system on the new drive, you will need to format the old and set it as a secondary drive.

P.S. not to use the software provided with the new hard drive to format. When you install the operating system, it will do all that for you.

  • Aspire T3 - 710 how to add Second hard drive?

I see only two SATA sockets on the motherboard and one for the DVD and one for the hard drive.

How can I add a second internal hard drive? Do I have to buy a PCI card with a SATA plug?

One last comment. The motherboard did not include one towards down the memory of the solid state of m2. I would have appreciated such a screw.

  • P6620f: Installation second SATA drive

    Motherboard installed: H-RS880-ALVORIX-ΜATX

On two of the sata motherboard three plugs are in use, the other plug is white (S3) in color and I tried to use this one and no success.

Windows hardware displays the hard drive, but it does not appear in the "Explorer".  I went into the CMOS in the hope that it would recognize the drive, but it does not appear there, the second time I rebooted the system, I get the following error "Master disk failure".

I also bought the PCI Sata card only to find out it does not fit this motherboard.  According to the info on the motherboard, it must be a PCI-E x 16 connector, and I have not been able to locate one with a sata connection.

What should I do to use the white sata connector?

    Thank you for your help.

    H ALVORIX-RS880-ΜATX has 4 Sata headers.

  • Add second HARD drive to HP ENVY 17-j171sa Leap Motion TS SE Notebook PC

    Hello

Recently upgraded to SSD as HDD1 in my notebook using cable sheet etc. of 'newmodeUS '.

All the stable and works well, so I installed a second HDD (which I know works well) but the laptop does not see.

I even installed the drive HARD original as HDD2 but same problem

I cannot find any relevant info on diagnosing this problem, but I was wondering if this model (jump movement) may have a second internal HDD

I don't see anything in the BIOS on this topic

A point to note is that I had to remove a plate of maetal that was installed in the drive Bay HDD2 - possible is not designed to accept?

    Thank you

Following my last, next time I checked the disk Dirves in Device Manager, there was my Toshiba 1 TB as well as the SSD.

Quick format in humans of disc and it is in place and works very well!

Not too sure what happened here, I left the disks with the cables 'Swapped' in place and just to prove that everything is OK I swapped the cables back again an everything is OK (the original cable is now in HDD1 port with the SSD and the NewmodeUS cable is HDD2 port with the other disk from Toshiba.

So now I can use my 1 TB of extra storage as well as storage faster SSD - Hallelujah!

I also always the player original HGST I cloned the SSD at and could use again if the SSD fails or corrupt.

Thanks to all who have helped me on this one

  • for Pavilion G6-1b67ca SATA driver

I tried to install Debian on my G6 but didn't know that there were too many partitions or grub couldn't handle WIndows 7 boot. Debian works but windows freezes after a few seconds with the color balls flying around.

I tried windows rescue to correct the boot, but it shows not all discs. I try to locate the AHCI drivers for "load drivers" but does not know which are the most appropriate. All I can find is that the laptop uses amd Hudson AHCI mode, but there seems to be several versions.

HP driver downloads isn't an AHCI driver I can find.

Which is the right driver and where can I get it?

    Hello:

I don't know which is the right driver, but you can find the AMD AHCI drivers on the link below.  If you use 7 - zip, you can retrieve it from the executable and they are in the packages folder.

    http://support.AMD.com/us/gpudownload/Windows/pages/raid_windows.aspx#2

Windows 7 does not have these drivers to install.
