• Calculation of Quickie of the export-PDF file size?

  I have a document Indesign CS4 (816 pages, 3.5 GB) I want to export in PDF format in less than 200 MB pieces. Is it possible to request an approximate exported PDF, to save size guess them where do breaks and having to export several times in InDesign?

  Well, your 500 x 250mm @ 300 dpi images are about 60 MB

  What I would do is export the PDF file as a whole, then I use the extract Document pages and select as simple Pages.

  Then you have the PDF pages separately. You can then select and group them in your Finder or Explorer.

  When you select a bunch of files, you should get a reading on what file size they are.

  You can then say to tuft of 180 MB of using Acrobat files to combine into a single pdf file.

• Final draft of 9 to PDF - file size problem

  I'm having a problem with file size create a PDF of the Final draft of 9. The file size is normally 300KB or more - but the file underway, more than any, I've done before, will only record to 29 MB - MUCH too large to email. Any ideas? I don't want to compress or use a service file - sharing project final normally saves a size easily, then I would understand this.

• Adobe Media Encoder Export Settings window size problem

  Any help on this would be appreciated: I use a MacBook pro, osx 10.6, CS4 Web Premium. I used to have a connected external monitor, which had a much higher resolution, so when you use Adobe Media Encoder I have to click the button settings on a video to get the export settings window, then stretched from the window of export settings for the size of my external screen. Now, I use my laptop computer, and export settings window does not resize top buttons left to adjust it to the size of my laptop and the low third export settings window get cut so I do not see the ok/Cancel buttons etc.

  I tried re-installing media encoder (via reinstalled flash using CDs) to try to 'reset' the window sizes, does not solve the problem.

  If anyone knows of any other preferences or something that I could remove to solve this problem, I can be grateful.

  Yes, I received the same answer. This means that adobe don't use OS native windows (shame on them!). I just tried something with CS4 that worked, however. Try this:

  Stop Media encode

  Go to UserHomeDirectory > library > Preferences > Adobe > Adobe Media Encoder 4.0 > and delete the file called "AMEPrefs.xml" and "AppPrefs.xml".

  Then restart Media Encoder. For me, this reset the window size and placement. I tried to move the window of export settings down to half of it was above the bottom of the screen. Once I deleted those files and rebooted, the window was smaller and repositioned.

  It is said that Adobe programs are programs of "disorder", they won't probably resize, but they should at least move. If nothing else, maybe you can move the window value is negative (upwards) so that the resize handle is visible, then move it down so that the header bar is visible again...

  The review was one more round about way-opening and export files individual InDesign 6 to the appropriate output settings and replacing 7 unique pages in the PDF file and save as a new version number (108 MB).

  The reason for the series on how to change the project is because all files are stored on a server and it is easier to make simple changes while working remotely.

  Probably you have registered under a new name (SAVE AS) and before you used to REGISTER. Save the leaves wasted space, save as it recovers.

  1. I know that there is this option print in Id, where I can export PDFS in different size (why the hell that's not possible in the Export PDF dialog classic?). I tried, but this way of 'print' kills all my links created manually (about 800 of them in all of the document).

  You can not.

  Never use print to create a PDF file, avoid postscript, which means no EPS, but also without the creation of Distiller or PDF by printing.

  If you create a PDF file via the export only you can use the URL. (Often URLS work in all cases such as Acrobat and Reader are detecting those automatically the text, but often not correct.)

  Normally, you can place an INDD or PDF/X-4 file exported in other INDD files links als, they are treated as PDF images. But images can never transfer the interactivity in InDesign when they are placed there. If you lose these Interactivities.

  But why your client will have live links in all sizes? The user will not open all sizes and use it on screen.   I automate an a with 2 sections multi-page INDD file export process.  First of all, I need to export a PDF file with all the pages, then a PDF with pages of the first section.  I had a script works very well where I scored each section with a Section prefix. 1 a article and article 2 under B, so I simply put my pageRange = 'A'; and I could easily export my different PDFs 2

  Yes. I was asssuming, you must define the variable section in the relevant section of the document you want to print.

  For the first section, you can use: section var = app.activeDocument.sections [0]; and so to the next section, scaling arbitraily.

  What you suggest - is this basically the alpha prefix stripping while in the PDF file in the pages that you see "1, 2, 3," etc. instead of "A1, A2, A3?  If not, can you describe what your suggested code does?  It might be a better approach than what I was trying to do.

  My example assumed you had no defined prefix, it did not have any "stripping". He simply asks the section which pages are inside and then built the range of pages properly.

  That said, there were some errors in my suggestion. pageStart returns a Page not a number, then you'd want to be pageStart.name for the name of the page, which has duplicates, or pageStart.documentOffset for the absolute page number (zero-indexed). And to give a range of pages with absolute page numbers, you must precede them with a sign more. So, after all that, probably, you want to:

  I would advise you to go to "cloud.acrobat.com", connect using Adobe ID and then in main menu, select the option "export to PDF". Then follow the instructions on the screen to export pdf files to word or excel.

  I solved it! I had to use the original URL shorter links to create

  functional hyperlinks or try to short the links using Google URL Shortener.

  I don't know why it worked by doing this, but he did!

• Printing more than one page in a single PDF file size

  Hi there, some background everything first: I have a Mac with Mac OS 10.9.5, and I am trying to print from Adobe Reader v11.0.10 PDF files that contains pages with various page formats (some pages are letter, other legal size) in the same document. I have a printer Brother Laser (HL-6180DW) which has several trays and a tray for each paper size.

  The printer can automatically can print documents containing multiple pages with different paper sizes for the for the paper tray right when I use Microsoft Word to print. However, if I have a PDF file and you try to print from Adobe Reader, all pages come out like 8 x 11. I selected the option in the reader print dialog that says "Paper Source to choose the PDF page size" but this does not seem to make a difference. However this same document on a windows 8.1 uses the same version of Adobe Reader and print to the same printer, prints the document with the different paper sizes automatically if I select this option to print. I tried this same test with 3 or 4 different PDF files from different sources, and the results are always the same - works on the PC, does not work on Mac. Would appreciate any ideas on how to make this work the Mac.

• Export PDF get different results if a page or an entire book.

  I have a book from a client who was about 200 pages. It comes to calendars and everyone was in a PDF document and placed in InDesign. They had two AD22 pages at a point and changed the second AD23. It previews AD22 in InDesign, unless the high quality display is chosen, then it previews AD23. When I export the entire book, it exports the calendar AD22. When I export this page only exports the AD23. Also when I print this page it prints correctly. I don't understand what is happening, but thousands of pounds are already printed. If someone else has encountered something like that?
