Paging file continues reset

Whenever I turn on my computer, a performance options window will appear, saying that I need to set my virtual memory paging file size. I put on 'Size of system managed' and then restart my computer as it says to.  However, the window appears just once again, again not seen no pagefile. Definition of a custom size gives the same result.
It all started the week last out of the blue and I have failed to find a solution so far.
(I must add, when choosing the managed system or custom size he asks me if I want to overwrite the current pagefile)

System Specs:

Windows 7 Home premium

16 GB OF RAM

I tried solutions:

-Tried to run a sfc. Came up saying that there is no error in my files.

-Tried to use the command "sc config start = disabled afs" as suggested by other threads. Came in saying that no such program has been installed.

-Safe group of Directors has been on total control in the regedit.exe/memory management
-System Restore I've tried several earlier dates, but every attempt I am advised that the restore was not successful

Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

Since my upgrade from Vista to Windows 7. .everytime I restart my computer, maintains memory virtual reset itself. It keeps the switch back to "No paging file" and the "exécution Options" window keeps popping up when I restart my com.

I tried value "Automatically manages the size of pagefile for all readers" and even "system managed size" and "custom size." When I try to reopen the window, it gives me this pop up:

"Windows will create a temporary swap file on your computer because of a problem that occurred with your paging file configuration when you started your computer. File size of total paging for all disk drives may be a little larger than the size you specified.

I tried to delete reg entry and see if it will fix itself... no agreement.   I have 3 GB of RAM...

    Help, please!

Disabling AFS.sys (sc config start = disabled afs) has toured my situation when I had this problem (see http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproperf/thread/c5cfe9d0-e3d8-4625-85b1-3efdf04cd1a0 for full details).

Arrive at an elevated command prompt (Démarrer\Tous Programs\Accessories - right-click on command prompt and select "Run as Administrator") and type the command above (sc config start = disabled afs).  Press enter and you will get a confirmation message that the Setup is complete.  Reboot and you should be able to put your swap file.

Don't know why this happens, but starting from the thread that above, it appears that AFS.sys really did a lot for you, and my Win7 upgrade system works well without any problem in this configuration.

    I hope this helps.

  • Your system is low on virtual memory. Windows is increasing the size of your virtual memory paging file. This process may be denied requests for some applications.

When I start my laptop I get "your system is low on virtual memory. Windows is increasing the size of your virtual memory paging file. This process may be denied requests for some applications. "and my laptop takes forever or does not open my programs. any help? Thank you.

    less than low disk space,

What seems to be the case, it's that your windows is having a hard time resize its file for virtual memory.

my suggestion is to remove "auto" at that time, and then set a custom format.

I recommend that you set the initial size of 2 and max at 1152.

    You can try this program:

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/Recuva.html

Recuva is a file undeletion tool that allows you to analyze your hard drives or media cards for files that have been deleted or formatted. It presents you a list of files that have been found, as well as an assessment of their potential for recovery, a preview option, and a hex viewer to inspect the content. You can limit your search to files of a certain type (e.g. images, audio etc.) and choose between a quick and a thorough analysis approach. The program also includes a secure deletion option that allows you to permanently delete files that were found while parsing, to avoid any future recoveries.

  • Start / Paging file / TEMP / Drive problem fusion (listen to me)

    Hi everyone, expensive computer scholars.
I am once again an urgent need of your help and knowledge.
Get straight to the point, I have a newly purchased Lenovo with Windows 7 x 64 on this computer. I bought it in China.
When I bought it, I noticed that he had four drives of 250 GB of space for each, so I decided to merge them using one of these programs, I think it was the partition Wizard.

    I merged the so: C and D in C and E and F in D
Now he was never the same, as if one could say that the Fire Nation attacked.
Sometimes, I would get a blue start-up screen, even if it does not disappear with a reboot. I can't update Windows, which is more annoying, but could be due to the fact that the computer has a Windows English with a Chinese BIOS on this matter, I do not know (I digress from the topic here, but BTW if this is also something, I can't update my BIOS, even from lenovo page)
But it's the biggest problem I have this message that occur whenever I have start and open my session.

"Windows will create a temporary swap file on your computer because of a problem that occurred with your paging file configuration when you started your computer. File size of total paging for all disk drives may be a little larger than the size you specified.

I know it's a pretty classic, or classic problem, but I've never seen such results. And I went through a few forums, without answers. As a result, I can't install anything, really, I have an antivirus at the moment and that makes me nervous. Also, I can't create a hotspot for daughter mah, so, you know, it's basically *.
Oh dear users, please help! I would be happy to send you a form you need and follow all your instructions to the letter.

Thanks for reading and good luck. On the contrary, this computer is very important to me, I need to work, and now that I bought it, I'm broke.
In any case, thanks for reading and thanks for the responses.

  • The paging file must be on SSD or HARD drive?

    * Original title: hard drive swap file

The paging file must be on SSD? or HARD drive?

    Thank you

I think that it is better to use the one we have the highest speed of read/write. In most cases, it would be the ssd. There plenty of room as you have good RAM. In my case it is 24 G, so it maybe is a consideration as well, if you are limited on space. Probably, it would not hurt to change it to one that you you do not for the moment and then see if it starts faster on the hibernation or stops faster. In fact, I have the file page disabled on my laptop to save space with a lot of other consequences that can't Hibernate.

  • External hard disk paging file?

    Sorry guys,

I seem to have read something on it, but cannot move the post I thought I saw him. Most of the messages speak file exchange and external hard drives as two different instances. I always learn something new, so wonder if you guys are doing, or I did something wrong.

Is is possible to have a pagefile (virtual memory?) on the same disk external hard as scratch disks where are saved? (Or may be a separate internal drive where Scratch disks). The user guide PDF PrE speaks several different discs, where the different parts of each project are stored, much too complex for the user base like me. A separate paging file for each hard drive? Just a question.

If you guys do this what are the benefits, and is there a procedure to do? I don't talk to the OS paging file because I think that I already understand that. But additional paging files, additional according to how many hard drives, a person would have or want to use. Wacky sounds.

I don't think I'm asking this very well, but I hope you catch my drift.

I found that the simplest solution is the best.

    (1) keep at least 20-30 GB of free, clean, freshly defragment your C drive space so that the program has room to open and "breathe." Let Windows manage your paging on this drive files and run deep Advanced System Care Free care a week to reduce spyware and keep the reader in the order.

    (2) keep your projects and files on a separate hard drive (ideally internal) media. (Make sure that each project is saved in its own folder). This disk must be properly configured in your operating system as your BIOS and it should be formatted NTFS, not FAT32, because they come from the factory.

    (3) ensure that Edit/Preferences/Scratch disks the program are all set to even as a project.

  • "Compress old files" not reset not in Windows XP

After running Disk Cleanup with "Compress old files" checked, it shows still 79K. I rebooted and represented the disk cleanup, but still the 79K.

Why the amount has not been reset to 0K?

What would you choose to compress old files?

Do you know what he does, how he does, why he does it and what are the consequences?  Most of the people do not - they choose just because it "sounds" like the right thing to do or it "could be" a good idea.

A popular complaint from users is when they choose that option, their system seems to stop, maybe for hours while XP trying to understand what are the "old files" and what to do about them.  How do you know what is an "old file" and what happens if XP think files are old, but they are not old to you?

The files more that you have on your system as much time it take and he can just stuck forever and never end up (or you might get tired of waiting).  If you have 1 million files on your system you can wait very long for cleaning disc finish or it can never end.

And - if Windows find files to compress and that part works, and something you do on your system later needs these compressed files, they have to be unzipped before they can be used.  This will make your system run slower (while you wonder why it is and what to do about this).

Here are some ideas to consider involving all withdrawal that disk cleanup option - then your disk cleanup will run in a Flash:

Disk Cleanup runs slowly, the most likely reason seems to interrupt or uses excessive CPU is usually due to the option compress old files.

Compress old files comes from the good old days, when hard drives were weak and slow, and he had to each byte, you can get on your hard drive for programs and things.  Today, thanks to modern technology, it is almost superfluous.

Compress old files is supposed to compress the files "have not accessed for a long time" I never found someone who can explain what "were not consulted for a while" means.  What is 'a bit' to XP?  A week, a month, a year, 5 years, is it and how can we change it if you wanted to?

If you want your clean disc to run faster, I would just remove the option compress old XP disk cleanup files since it is known to crash or give the illusion of being hanged.  If you have 1 million files on your system (or even a few hundred thousand), you wait very long when you run disk cleanup your system may appear to be hung (and maybe it is).

I really don't think that with the technology available today that compress old files is necessary.  It would also slow down if XP needs unzip a file.  Besides, nobody seems to be able to tell me at what age an old file is in the XP terminology... what was simply a file become old?

To get the best performance, I just remove this 'feature' and never see him again, and then disk cleanup runs in a Flash because it didn't get old files to compress (some old way).

That adjustment will reduce considerably this time it will take your disk cleanup to run (I mean a lot).

It is a 'problem' for some systems that Microsoft has done an article on how to disable it (mine is disabled).

  • XP paging file: location Optimum of performance?

The swap file.  Few people understand this, including me.  I thought I would post some queries is that the performance of the hard drive therefore changed radically in the past because of disks SSD (SSD).

Optimum size: currently the size by default is the same as the amount of ram I (2 GB 800 mhz DDR2).  This is the best?

Location: if I use a SSD (not a high-performance one), or on C with the operating system on another harddrive even if slower sound (7200 RPM Sata)?

Best performance: what about using separate SSD just for the pagefile?  How did benefit things?

RAM disk: is it possible to put the pagefile on a ram drive?  (I know nothing about ram disks except that they are supposed to be very fast).

Youre best bet is to 'let system set it up', however, this is only a partial-

optimization. Intel says 'disable paging Executive' in regedit, this means that

the operating system to use more ram instead of the HD, that makes the presence, because the RAM

is faster than paging for a HD... Whatever it is, read more on: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/

I increased my memory to the laptop and then increase the pagefile size to match the new memory but now the pagefile is moved from it of original position at the beginning of the training and is now located somewhere in the middle of the road. • Why the hosts file is reset periodically?

Hello, I would like to redirect an IP address to a localhost, but whenever something comes back the original contents of the hosts file.

I open windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts with Notepad under run as administrator, and then make a change in the hosts file. All new Vett are redirecting to localhost (127.0.0.1), but suddenly some time my hosts file is returned to the original state.

My system runs Windows Vista x 64-bit edition.
What can change my hosts file and how to make a constant change in it?

    Best regards
    Voronkov Konstantin

    Konstantin,

I'm not familiar with VPNS modifying the file hosts as Brian suggested. Also, VPNS are a bit outside the scope of support here in answers and if you need more information about the VPN, I would recommend display in TechNet Windows Vista Networking:

    http://social.technet.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/itprovistanetworking/threads

From personal experience, I find some antivirus software will monitor and restore the hosts file. If the host file is always reset to 0, you can perform a clean boot, use the system and see if the file resets. If not, it means that something in startup is reset the hosts file and from there you can determine what startup item is causing the problem.

Check out the link below for instructions to boot:
