parental control my computer administrator user

I am in the Parental controls control panel and when I click on the account that is a computer administrator, it does allow me access to the parental control. He said "Parental controls cannot be applied to your account because it is an administrator." and it gives me an option to create an account. I want that the parental controls on this account, is possible to go about it apart from creating a new account?

Thank you!

The administrator account cannot have the built in parental controls applied.

You will need to use another program, such as Bluecoat K9 or Norton Online Family.

Try to create another administrator account, and then connect to that account and try to change or disable the parental control for the administrator account.  I don't know if it will work, but it's worth a try.

I hope this helps.  If this isn't the case, after return and we will try something else.

  • Help for the parental control on Vista administrator account

Computer of my son is running Vista and I set parental controls in place through the administrator account, there a nonadministrator account.

I changed the password after that we had a few problems with the controls, and now I want to change the settings again. However, the old password allows for parental control (IE, he allows his account access websites and bypass control, etc.), but when I try to access the administrator account, it says the old password does not work. When I enter the password, account says I don't have the login procedure and kicks back me to the main screen of Vista (where I take which account to enter).

So, I'm stuck administering the account due to a conflict in the parental control passwords. If I try to reset the password, the computer ask me a USB stick with the old password on it information. It is a step that I did not.

Any way to disable the administrator account? Or somehow remove/reset the parental control account access restrictions that I am experiencing?

All you have to do is to go into System Preferences > Parental controls and click on the padlock in the lower left and admin user and password and then click on the device in the lower left corner and disable Parental control for the selected user

  • Cannot disable Parental controls in Windows 7

A few months ago I turned on "Parental controls" in Windows 7 and installed Windows Live Essentials which enabled Windows Live Family Safety.  Then set up controls on the connection of my sons account.  It worked well to block his access to select programs and Web sites.

I now want to delete controls on his account and also completely disable Parental control, will have problems.

I signed in to Live parental controls and turned off all the selections.  But his account still has restrictions and can not run programs that were previously blocked.  It is still block.  They work fine if I launch them from my Admin account or standard wife.  But not standard account of my son.

If I change the 'provider' to 'None' then click on account of my son, I get the error msg...  "Impossible to make changes to parental controls settings. If the problem persists, see your system administrator.  UH... I am the admin.

What I noticed is, if I look at the screen carefully when I click on his account, I see what I think, this is the screen adjustment "Parental control" or by a Commission for a half second before getting the error.

I searched and tried different steps in this area and on the web. Most seem to want to refer to a Vista system, mine is Win 7.

I did cmd level scans as "SFC/scannow", stopping the service and allow the account administrator by default to connect and try to leave, but none of these work.

Even uninstalled the 'Parental control' part Live Essentials and no luck and reinstalled complete essentially no effect.

I've been on before IE8, IE9 attended, so he just went back to IE8 with no effect (didn't expect not but just to try).

In short, it seems that Parental control is glued ON and now has his hooks in my son's account and will not let go.  I don't want to delete his account and set up a new account, as this will work around the question for my son for now, but leave the service is running and the problem.

My system is running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.   My account is an administrator.  My son has a Standard account.  The programs work very well through other accounts simply not hers.

So, how can I get out his account to parental authority and then how do I disable / stop completely, the Parental control itself?

Also, how one prevent images to display? For example, if you type the word "tobacco" in the browser window and click on "images" then many images of tobacco appear.

You can't block images.  If someone types the word "tobacco" in Google, you cannot prevent Google from showing images of tobacco, because it does not part of the safe search filter that blocks explicit (read: adults) images and links.  Just like you can't keep Google return images of snakes, cakes birthday or Volkswagen beetles.  Activate the safe search filter must be done on the Google site itself, in any case.  Who should keep the sprogs to searching for photos of breasts and other terminology of this naughty (for them), but that's all.

To the extent of allowing access to only certain Web sites, do so you in system--> Parental control preferences.  Click on the padlock in the lower corner on the left and enter your administrator password.  On the left side of the pane, select the account that you want to apply Parental controls for.  In the top of the pane, you should see a list of tabs.  One of them is "Web".  Click on it.  There are three levels of browser restriction.  If you want to customize the list of websites, this account users are able to access, click on the Customize button.

A dialog box will be displayed.

In the upper pane, type Web sites you want to only be accessible and in the lower pane, enter the Web site you never want to be accessible.  When you are finished, press OK.  If you need more for the other tabs at the top of the pane, click the padlock in the lower left corner again to lock in your preferences.

  • parental control for windows and IE8 lists

could you tell me where to find lists allow/block for access in ie8 Manager and parental control under accounts of users and parental control?

    Hi pavilion_alex,.

For Access Manager, see the following: http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-use-content-advisor-in-internet-explorer-8.html.

For Parental control, see the following: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Set-up-Parental-Controls.  For each category, there is a tracking link that provides details on how to manage this particular aspect, including where are the lists and how block/allow access.

Windows Live Family Safety 2011 allows you to manage remote parental control - but not really adds additional means to block or allow.  You can simply access computers remotely to do what parental controls can do this on the local PC.  Here's where to find this program: http://explore.live.com/windows-live-family-safety?os=other.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Cancel the Parental control, because I'm the Parent: but not Administrator of my computer

I myself blocked on my computer. I didn't know that Apple was the administrator of the computer, and I was a user. I turned on the 'enable parental control' to limit the spending of my adolescence, while using my apple ID. I didn't know I was putting controls on myself. I tried everything-

    (1) connected on Mac of my son tried to remote access, file sharing, etc. He is a Director on his computer, and we've even created a new user on his computer. Nothing has worked.

    (2) tried questions help and support, impossible to find a way around it.

    (3) I've changed my password, now I can't even shut down the computer.

I can't believe that this happened to someone, somewhere, and it's so easy to do.

    Help, please! I tried everything-

Please take these steps to restore the privileges on your account. This somewhat tedious procedure is only necessary if you have verified that no work administrator account exists on the system.

If you do not already have a current backup of all your data, you must back up before taking any of the steps below. Ask if you need advice. You won't need the backup unless something goes wrong, which is always possible.

    Step 1

Start in recovery mode. The OS X Utilities appears.

    Step 2

This step only if you use FileVault 2. Start utility disk, then select the icon for the volume FileVault startup ("Macintosh HD", unless you have given it a different name.) It will be nested under another icon of the disc. Select open in the file menu and enter your login password when you are prompted. Then quit disk utility must be returned to the main screen.

    Step 3

    Select

    Utilities ▹ Terminal

in the menu bar. In the window that opens, type this:

    resetp

Press the tab key. The partial order you entered will automatically end this:

    resetpassword

Press return. Opens a window to reset the password. Select your boot if not already done volume. Pull down the menu option

    Select the user account

    and select

    Administrator (root)

Follow the prompts to set a password. It is safer to choose a password that includes only the characters a - z, A - Z and 0-9. I suggest that you write the password. If you don't write it down and forget about it, you will start again at step 1.

    Select

     ▹ Reboot...

    in the menu bar.

    Step 4

This step, as step 2, applies only if you use FileVault. Sign up as usual, then select

     ▹ Disconnect...

from the menu bar or press shift-command-Q key combination. Do not restart. You go back to the login screen.

    Step 5

On the login screen, click on the other... Enter 'root' (without the quotes) in the name field and the password set in step 3 in the password field. You should now be logged in as root. It is a potentially dangerous situation. Do nothing by being logged in as root except as indicated below. You'll be fine as long as you don't dismiss the plan.

Open the preferences users and groups window. Select your usual administrator account from the list of users and check the box marked

Allow the user to administer this computer

You will be prompted to restart. Do this and log in as yourself, not as root. Your administrator status should now be restored.

    Step 6 (optional, but recommended)

Follow the instructions in this article to support under the title "disable the root user. You must authenticate in directory utility as a 'root' with the password set in step 3. As another administrator authentication will not work.

  • How to set controls on my computer to allow standard users to not impersonate a user administrator? I just want to be able to have 1 administrative user.

I tried to sent a parental controls for my minor daughter not to go to some Web sites, but she had figured out how to change his user account and the administrator account. How can I stop this?

I moved your post on the forums of Windows security.

Basically, you need to make sure that other users of the PC have their protected accounts password and the PC is locked or users disconnected if one of them is administrative users. If she has access to your password or the password of an account with admin rights, it can change its own permissions.

  • Error message "unable to make changes to parental controls settings. If the problem persists, see your system administrator"when you set parental controls for a user account

Original title: user account with an effort of parental control

After logging in to my admin account, I created two user accounts for my children, set up parental controls for both that I created, when I tried to set up the third account that he would allow me to activate parental control. It seems that he is trying to load the screen to give me the parental control options then the window disappers and another small window appears saying "cannot make changes to parental controls settings. If the problem persists, see your system administrator. I close the window, and then open the parental controls for other accounts, and they work very well, allows me the chance to change. I deleted the third account several times, making sure to create on behalf of others, just like I did the first two. Still no luck. Can I have only 3 total accounts? My administrator account and standard users 2.

How can I get a standard user account third with parental controls?

    Hi Ranw,

    ·        What is the error message when you try to change parental controls?

    ·        Have you been able to make any changes on this computer from your account earlier?

You can follow the steps below and check if you can make changes to the parental controls on your computer.

    Step 1:

Disable UAC (User Account Control) and check the result. Access the link below and follow the steps to disable UAC.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/turn-user-account-control-on-or-off

Note: You must restart your computer when you enable or disable UAC. Change levels of notification does not require that you restart your computer.

    Step 2:

I suggest to create a new administrator account and log later in the new administrator account, try to set parental controls and check if it works.

    Create a user account:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Create-a-user-account
