  I have a MSI Netbook running Windows 7 Starter and want to go to Windows 10.

  I run the upgrade wizard that tells me the current active partition is compressed.

  I checked in the management of the computer - I have:

  Recovery partition - 8.35 GB

  Active, the recovery Partition - 100 MB

  Boot, page file, crash dump, primary Partition - 173,79 GB - OS_Install (c :))

  Primary partition - 115,86 GB - Data (d :))

  All are listed as single - base; C: and D: are NTFS; the other two have no file system listed.

  None of the partitions are indicating as "compressed". In Solution Explorer, I have the opportunity to make compressed (thus taken as it is 'uncompressed').

  All sitting on a WD 320 GB drive (289.1 GB used by partitions).

  I do not have access to any partition other than C: and D: and I imagine wouldn't upgrade.

  So why I said that the current active partition is compressed.

  I notice that I could make C: partition Active - but what effect would it have on the boot and the functioning of the netbook?

  Not a good thing. Unless you run the following command as an administrator before:

  BCDboot C:\Windows /s C:

  the copy of your 'System reserved' start-up files in C: this way.

  I had the data compression of my cube of planning set to "Bitmap encoding".  However, when I check the compression rate stats is showing as zero.  Is this normal or is there something I'm missing?

  How to check the compression rate, Gerd you?

  EAS only shows the compression rate to two decimal places.  If the density of block is very low, the compression ratio can be rounded to zero.  But if you check with MaxL, you will see a more accurate value.  The command is:

  ask the Sample.Basic database is dbstats data_block;

  Of course, this requires that there is actually data in the cube (which can be seen through the block count statistics).

  I have a USB to disk 2 used for all my data. I accidentally fell Lion Recovery Disk Wizard in this regard, instead of my USB, to make a bootable installation. Now, I can't mount the drive.

  I tried TestDisk, Assistant data and drill to drive, but nothing did.

  Try to repair the partitions with Disk Warrior. If your partitions are repaired successfully, then your drive is saved along with the data inside. The only problem is Disk Warrior allows a free demonstration test.

  Hi, firstly it is great that toshiba has this forum directly from the page of the manufacturer. I wonder what is on the partition of DATA from my laptop. The 200 X 20 s comes with two 160 GB HARD drive. One is divided into two 73 GB. I would like to install linus on the DATA which is empty. What is the purpose of it?

  I guess that the intent of the parititon of 'DATA' is to store data on it. Sound very logical in my opinion. Since you have a HDD recovery you should check first if this DATA partition is not the recovery of HARD drive partition. I think that the best thing to do before installing linux, create a recovery disk with the "Recovery Disc creator and then install your linux system.

  The recovery disk will format the whole HARD drive and will be also possible to erase all partitions created on the HARD drive!
  This means that you will lose your photos and all data stored on the HARD drive.

  Therefore, you must back up the data before using the recovery disk!

  I have a laptop (Satellite Pro) friends who is unable to start in Vista (even in safe mode) with a blue screen. I tried to start my Vista CD to try a windows repair, but even that translates the same blue screen. To cut a long story short, I want to use back to factory default, but the recovery CD were never created.

  I can access the contents of the disc (the C drive and the data partition) to boot from a CD live linux. Is there a way I can copy the files over again the data partition and create a CD/DVD using these files for recovery?

  Lol you can't do that. What you can do now is to restore disc original order of Toshiba.

  IV been playing with Esxi, Hyper-V and Xenserver for some time now. Finally, I decided to go with esxi for my virtualization project but there are 2 questions, I need to get an answer first.

  1. None of my raid cards that I have at the moment are detected by esxi. I read that theres a lack in the nucleus of esxi so that you can't do software raid; is that correct?

  2. I 3xTB drivers where partitions are encrypted with truecrypt, what is the easiest way to convert these VMFS partitions so I can use them in esxi?

  As far as I know, you have two main options:

  (1) create a virtual machine with a normal vdisk (hard) to place the data of truecrypt. Then make a transfer to network on the virtual machine to a system that has access to the unencrypted data. Finally the date of stay to the virtual machine without encryption vdisk

  (2) create a virtual machine and install the truecrypt sotfware. After that add truecrypt disks (perhaps is better to merge all data from a larger drive?) to the esxi machine. The esxi should see the disk (s) connected (s) as LUN SCSI/SATA. Then, create the physical (s) or the discs as raw device mapping (RDM). In my humble VIEW in your scenario is preferable to create RDM in physical mode. Finally using the truecrypt software you should be able to access the encrypted data.

  I'm a peasant total techno and was trying to find out how much space was left on my macbook pro 2009.  In the finder, I saw "compress data" and thought that I remembered how to seller by recommending day to do so.  I clicked it, and my computer is making its way through 183,59 GB of data compression, which according to her, will take 5 days!  When I tried a google search, I came across a lot of complicated things that sounds like you should be only compress one file at a time.

  While we are there, please can you me how do I know how much space is left on my computer?

  Hi Dana,

  You compress your entire hard drive? Or only some data on the hard drive folders?

  Compression of data such as pictures, documents, pdf files, and other similar files is perfectly OK!

  A file is made up of a bunch of metadata. Metadata is simply data about data. Well, there is some metadata is just useless in a file and there is no advantage. With compression, the file gets processed and been ejected from some of its attributes and metadata which translates to a much smaller file size.

  However, there are some data that you don't want to compress. It comes to binary files that build the operating system (OS). If you plan to compress these file types, then corruption is likely to occur or may occur. When data compression, make sure that you can do without affecting your operating system files.

  The reason why your compression takes so long is that you MOST likely have a disk speed is very low. Depending on your model laptop and the year, you most likely have a tough guy who has a speed of 5400 revolutions per Minute (RPM). This is... the magnetic disks inside the hard drive that revolve around a single PIN for read and write data. Low RPM train speed slow drive, which slows EVERYTHING down. * And to emphasize, if your drive is old and has a lot of reads/writes that took place during his life, so the speed of the discs degrade. This is what we call performance degradation.

  In your scenario, I guess you have a slow drive, low RAM and a processor low range. Given these factors, it would take time to process and compress all data on your drive.

  I suggest you kill the compression operation. Compression is really intended to those who is EXTREMELY low on disk space and they have no choice OR you have pure RAW data which can slow down operations in an application, you are working with, in which case compress you the data to remove some of that unnecessary metadata.

  In the future, when you get a new machine, it is preferable to an installation on your disk compression before starting to use your machine. The data will be then get compressed by increments, rather than in a single session, which takes a lot of time.

  I dropped my DATA partition to increase the size of my partition Vista (c), but I can't extend C: (as far I understand it) because it is more than a single partition to the right.

  I can reformat the free space and I have another partition, but I would rather extend C:

  The problem is that your data partition was created after the C partition.

  If you reduce a partition, the free space appears after the shrivelled partition and so you can not add this free space to the other partition of C that is placed behind the partition Data (D).

  The only way to expand the C partition is to delete the partition D and then to add this free space to the C partition, but I wouldn't delete the DATA partition because it has a record of recovery that is necessary to create the Toshiba Recovery DVD

  But if you have already created a Toshiba Recovery DVD then the deletion of the DATA partition is not a serious problem because the Toshiba Recovery disk would format the whole HARD drive and would create 3 new partitions (hidden WinRE partition, partition C system, DATA partition).

  You are on the right track, using ROW_NUMBER to assign numbers and pick-up only #1 in the main query. The main thing you're missing is the PARTITION BY clause.
  You want to assign a #1 for each distinct combination of group_id, path, assets and calendar day , right?
  Then, you need to PARTITION BY group_id, path, assets and calendar day . I think you understand that when you called this thread "query based * on partition date."

  The next thing is the controlling ORDER BY clause. To know which line of each partition is assigned #1, you must order the lines of result ("Success" first, then "Failed") and after that, of jobdate (jobdate last first, which is in descending order).

  If so, that's what you want:
