  If you have already used your account Hotmail (or Facebook or any number of other services) represent a public WiFi access point and do not use (because you didn't know you could or was not available) the option always use HTTPS for the login, then it would have been easy for someone using Firesheep, a Firefox Add-on, to steal your identity change your account security options and you prevent access to the account in the future.  It happened to thousands, perhaps tens of thousands of people and can continue to occur.  This is the reason that Hotmail, Facebook, Twitter, etc. now have the opportunity to always use HTTPS (secure http) when using these services.

• All of a sudden don't require passwords for one of my user accounts... Why?

  All of a sudden, the user accounts on my computer is not necessary to enter a password to connect.  You can simply click the icon for a particular account and it load.  This includes administrator accounts.  I checked the user account control panel and it doesn/t display the saved passwords.  I have a fingerprint reader that works in conjunction with or instead of the password and who scans are always registered and working, but now are rendered advocated. What could have caused this?  I am on an HP dv6 - 1134ca Entertainment Notebook PC with Windows Vista Edition Home Premium with service pack 2.  I can and will implement the new passwords for the accounts, but I'm a little disturbed that this has happened at all and do not understand what could have caused it.  Everything has worked out very well and normal until today.  Thanks in advance for any help or suggestion.

  I never saw this happen by itself. All I can say is that you be proactive and make sure that the computer is free of viruses/malware and not compromised from outside.

  \KEY_OraDb11g_home1--> oracle_sid = oracle1

  Well, you obviously have (at least) 3 separate installations of Oracle 11 g.

  In addition to the set the ORACLE_SID, you also need to set the ORACLE_HOME:

  set ORACLE_SID=oracle2
  set ORACLE_HOME=
  

  If this does not work, copy / paste the commands you've tried and the error you get.

  Hello Gladiatorlady, while you are on the login page, you can click somewhere on an empty spot & go see information page > Security > view saved passwords you can remove stored passwords.

• Change password for an Oracle RAC installation account

  I'm not an Oracle DBA, but currently I am asked to fill in until a certified Oracle DBA lights.  I work with MS SQL Server and have servers managed for some time.

  That being said, my question is probably a simple.  In the Oracle 11 g RAC 2 installation guide, it tells you * must * use an account that exists on both servers to install.  So far, so good, we have a domain dedicated to this purpose and no other account.  However, due to a recent change in policy, we must also change the password on this account on a regular basis (annual).  My question is, which, if it is, a will this affect on our Oracle RAC database facilities?

  If we simply change the password at the domain level, rather than to check the "must change password at next login", is this cause problems with our data?

  My inclination is no, we have no problems, because current services 'running' Oracle use the local NETWORK SERVICE account that will not be changed, but confirmation of this would be appreciated.
