Password help / reinstall XP Media Center

I have a XP Media Center 2005. Some of my registry files are missing or damaged, as a result, I get a message, after that reboot, this WIN 32 generic host has stopped working and will stop. I was told that I need to reinstall the operating system. I have SP3 installed and computer is up to date. The problem is this, when I try to access the recovery partition to reinstall XP, I wonder a password. The password that I supply, which is the password with that I log into Windows as an administrator, is rejected. I had a problem like this before on a Vista system and Microsoft was able to send me a password reset fix. What are my options for this baby?

Cool, I hope it works! :)

I have the certificate of authenticity, but I only have a disk of windows xp professional. How can I reinstall the operating system? Download the iso of disc or is it possible to use the drive I have?

Some computer manufacturers, including Dell and HP, have a recovery partition on the hard drive of the new computers.  By pressing a special key combination when the computer starts, you can use the recovery partition to restore the computer to the way it was when it was new.

If this is not available, contact the manufacturer of your computer and ask a floppy to install for your computer model.

I had the misfortune I had to replace my hard drive on my Toshiba laptop after reinstalling my Windows 7 Ultimate disc, I find that I am unable

Open your Start menu by pressing the Windows key and type FEATURES in the search box. Select 'Windows turn features on or off ". When the Panel opens, expand the category "Media Features" and place a check in the box "Windows Media Center". You may need to restart after Windows reconfigures itself.

  • Media Center does not work on Equium A100-147

    Hello
I have a little problem with my media center. It used to work fine, but recently, I decided to wipe the hard drive.

I used the boot disk to reinstall windows media center edition 2005. However, when you try to load the Media Center, I get the error message:
"Your video card or drivers are not compatible with Media Center" and it will not play videos when media center then opens upward.

Now, I downloaded all the updates that are available from microsoft for windows and I ve downloaded the latest drivers from Intel for the graphic accelerator card.
I am really at my wits end, Ive used this microsoft program to detect the decoder and it is both compatible with windows media player and windows media center and is set as default.

I saw on another thread, someone having a similar problem, which was solved by going to "run", type "dxdiag" and enable direct features, however mine was already activated.

If someone could help me I would be very grateful, thank you for your time.

It is really strange. Your satellite notebook comes with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 and it should work. What kind of videos you want to use. Original DVD movies?

In any case, using google, you can find a lot of interesting comments for this theme.

A man simply offers the solution:

+ Just open regedit, then tap on +.
    + HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\Media Center\Display parameters +.

+ Then add 2 KEYS to DWORD called DisableDxCheck and DisableDx9CapsCheck and their two values 1 and Media Center should start without problem.

    You can test it.

  • Windows XP without Media Center MCE?

    Hello

My uncle has an old PC that has Windows XP MCE 2005.
Ater a problem with its GFX, he brought a repair guy, who changed the GFX and re-formatted everything.
It seems to have reinstalled XP MCE 2005, but I can't find anywhere Media Center.
I tried to find the installation files from the recovery/windows XP cd, but none of the exe files appear to be.
    Any ideas?
The version says that Windows XP MCE 2002 and SP2 is installed as well. (Which has been confusing because the disc says 2005 and 2002, said the PC, but after some reading, I realized 2005 is just 2002 with Service Pack 2)
The brand of computer is Medion, similar to the model, I don't remember, but it's a fairly old machine.
I also have the recovery DVDs of Medion which, once started inviting the Windows XP installation.
I was expecting just don't not to re - install everything again.
Is it possible to lift the Media Center and running? I tried everything to my knowledge and that you still can't find a way to do this.

The first thing you need to switch your system to XP Service Pack 3, you can download and install from here:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=24

About your Media Center, you see it written anywhere, once you click Start > all programs?

A check more than you could do:

    1. click on Start > run.
    2. type %SystemRoot%\ehome\ehshell.exe and press return (enter key).

    Media Center opens for you?

I don't have much experience with XP Media Center versions. One thing I know about this version of XP is that it was probably distributed only through OEMS. As far as I KNOW, if you reinstall XP Media Center, Media Center program should be listed under the option all programs in your Start menu. If it is not this way, the most likely cause for this would be a bad installation of the operating system. Do you have the means to contact your manufacturer and see if that's what it should be in your computer as well?

If you want to do a clean install of Windows XP, here is a good tutorial on how to do it. It has screenshots as well. Take a look:

  • Choppy video playback in Windows Media Center (Windows 7) WTV

I recently experienced a video playback jerky with windows media center.  Sometimes the recorded TV (WTV format) play very well for about 2-3 minutes until the video playback is very jerky (probably about 5 to 10 frames per second instead of the usual 30-60 fps).  The audio is not again normally.  Windows Movie maker also plays choppy video (Windows Media Player seems to work very well).  The main menu of Windows Media Center, itself becomes generally restless slow when I'm scrolling autour options, even when there is no video game in the background.  Video streaming on the Internet and DVD seems to play fine on Windows Media Center, and I can even stream HD video without problem.  I also know that this isn't a problem receiving the TV tuner since I test with the video recorded previously.  I bought my computer in June 2009 with Windows Vista and upgrade to Windows 7 a few months later.  Everything worked perfectly well until recently.

I tried to update my video card drivers, reallocation of Windows Media Center to a task of "high priority" to improve performance, the RAM Cache to improve the performance, my graphics card setting to low quality setting to have superior performance to compensation.  I even tried to reinstall Windows Media Center, reinstall Windows Media Player and the restoration of my entire computer to a State a few months in the past where the problem was not intervened.  The memory usage seems OK too (I have 6 GB).  Basically, I don't think that the issue is performance related.  I'm guessing that there is some little conflict, pilot program, codec, etc., which is originally the video playback to go bad after a few minutes.  Any thoughts?
