How can I disable the password security feature that needs to be changed about every 2 months?  Thank you

Hi Dramma,

I suggest to select the option for not at end of password in the settings of expiration of password of local security or by the local users and group strategy and check if it helps.

1. open the local security policy editor.

2. open the start menu, type secpol.msc in the search line and press ENTER.
If prompted by UAC, click on continue.

3. you can now set up and manage the local security policies on your computer to the way you want.

4. in the left pane, under security settings, click the small arrow next to account policies to fall down and view the folder
Options.

5. click on the password policy folder.

6. in the right pane, right-click on Maximum of the password, and then click Properties.

7. to stop the password expires:
Type 0, and then click OK.

OR

You can also change the settings via the local users and group password expiration:

1. open the User Manager and local groups.

a. open the control panel (Classic view) and click the Administrative Tools icon.

b. close the Control Panel window.

(c) in administrative tools, click computer management.

d. If prompted by UAC, click on continue.

e. close the Administrative Tools window.

f. in the left pane of computer management, double-click local users and groups.

2. in the left pane, click users.

3. in the middle pane, right click on the user account that you want to do with and click Properties.

4. to stop password expiration:

Check the password will never expire, click OK.

Hope the helps of information. Please post back and we do know.

  • Reset password in Vista running VMFusion

How can I connect to Windows Vista on a Mac under VMWare Fusion when you don't know the password?  Vista has been installed using VMWare Fusion in 9/08.  No password is needed to connect to Windows Vista.  Now in 11/08, after not having used Vista in a few weeks (2 months after installation), it asks me a password that I did not know that I have created.  I tried "*" (without the quotation marks), the VMWare Fusion Easy Install password and several other obvious passwords without success.  Vista requires you to reset your password every 2 months?

Vista of the message "the user name or password is incorrect".  Trying to reset the password, the password reset Wizard don't ask for a floppy drive when there is no floppy drive on the Mac.

Is there a way to reset the password without having to re - install Vista?

You don't have to install anything or create a virtual machine in order to use the tool's password!

All you need to do is fix the image cd080802.iso to CD/DVD drive of the Vista virtual machine via its settings and start the Virtual Machine Vista from the CD/DVD.

Consult the help file to see how to assign an ISO Image on CD/DVD the correct VMware Virtual Machine, not one you just created in order to use this tool, which is not necessary and probably why you can even see the virtual hard disk that is correct because as I have already said, it seems that you do not work with the basics correctly the machine virtual on the previous attachment of files and image.

To start the Virtual Machine after you have attached to the correct virtual machine, you may have some difficulties and you can thank VMware for this because they do not it is easy to start an Image of CD/DVD/ISO after a Virtual Machine is created because the Virtual Machine boots so fast, it is difficult to make appear the Start Menu and you may manually change the .vmx file of the The target VM to either add a delay to change the boot order in the BIOS.

Take a look at my answer in the following thread for additional information that can hel to allow the start of the Image of CD/DVD/ISO. You can ignore the first paragraph about VMware SCSI drivers because the password reset tool works as is, so you can start reading at "If the Virtual Machine is not boot from the CD/DVD or ISO Image then select the CD-ROM in the Boot Menu." Re: Reinstlling Windows

    > Would it be why it does not recognize the Windows software as a specific device?

Another interesting element is that I allocated 80 GB of space for VMWare Fusion program.  It is NOT partitioned in Boot Camp.

Is there a way to recover the password, and if so what is the best way?

    Thank you!

There are ways to reset the password to a blank password. I don't think that Toshiba would allow us to post tools like this on the forum, so having a search in google.

Another solution would be to fix the HARD drive on another PC using a USB adapter, copy your documents and other important files, then put the HARD return drive to perform the recovery and then copy backup your files/documents.

  • Details of complexity of password on vista or windows 7

In previous versions of Windows, when a user changes his password, but fails to meet the requirements of the password policy domain, the error message was very helpful (though this KB821425 done better). However, in Vista and windows 7, we seem to have worsened. He said just now. "Unable to update the password. The value provided for the new password does not meet the length, complexity, or requirements in the history of the area. "That doesn't tell the user WHAT are the requirements in detail; That is to say: the number of characters, what are the rules of complexity or how many passwords is stored (unlike XP, 2003, 2000, etc.).

Is there a way to fix this?

    Hello

    What password are you talking?

If it's regarding network sharing again the sharing.

    Maybe this can help.

To get best results connect to each computer system screen and set all the computers to be on a bearing the same name of Working Group , while each computer has its own unique name.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_name.jpg

Make sure that the software firewall, AV, or other security components allow free local traffic on all network computers. If you use the 3rd group of security, firewall native Vista/XP must be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions

    General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq.html#trusted
Please Note that some 3rd party software firewall/AV/security costumes continue to block aspects of the Local traffic even it they are off (off).
If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic.

If you end up with the 3rd party software uninstalled or disabled, make sure that Windows native firewall is active .

Network Win 7 with another version of Windows as a work network (works very well if all computers are Win 7 also).

In the center of the network, by clicking on the type of network opens the window to the right.

Choose your network type. Note the check box at the bottom and check/uncheck depending on your needs.

When you have finished the configuration of the system, it is recommended to restart everything the router and all computers involved.

    -------------

If you have permission and security issues with Vista/Win7, check the following settings.

Point to a folder that wants to share do right click and choose Properties.

    In the properties

Click on the Security tab shown in the bellows of the photo on the right) and verify that users and their permissions (see photo below Centre and left) are configured correctly. Then do the same for the authorization tab.

This screen shot is to Win 7, Vista menus are similar.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/permission-security.jpg

The Security Panel and the authorization Panel, you need to highlight each user/group and consider that the authorization controls are verified correctly.

When everything is OK, restart the network (router and computer).

    * Note . The groups and users listed in the screen-shoot are just an example. Your list will focus on how your system is configured.

** Note . All the users who are allowed to share need to have an account onall computers that they are allowed to connect to.

Everyone is an account, that means a group of all users who already have an account now as users. It is available to avoid the need to configure permission for each on its own, it does not mean all those who feel that they would like to connect.

  • Outlook 2002 asking the password on Vista 64

    Hello
Everytime I open Outlook 2002 it always ask for my email accounts password, even if they are save in my accounts and check the box to save passwords, have detect and repair several times and the problem persist even when I run Outlook as an administrator.  The UAC is disabled.

    Any suggestion?

Outlook 2003 and later versions are compatible versions for Vista.

This "password forgotten" is a known issue in earlier versions of Outlook.

  • Create folders password under Vista SP1

    Happy holidays everyone,.

I'm new to the forum, so I hope someone can help me. I am running Vista Home Premium SP1 on my HP laptop and wanted to know if there is a way to create folders in windows Explorer I can password protect? I don't really want to install a 3rd party application and thought that perhaps Vista has this ability. I can't wait to hear back from someone.

    Best regards, Whynotbesafe

No, sorry. You will need a third-party product to do so.

However, if you are the only administrator on your computer, then you can use the Security tab (right click on a folder, and then click Properties) to deny other users permissions to folders without 'password protect' their (the record is protected against any person who is not log on with your user account and password). Of course, if you have other administrators on the computer, they can just take ownership records and give access. And if other users log on your computer with the same account administrator user that you use, then this method no longer works. Vista Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate support a stronger form of the protection of files and folders by allowing you to encrypt their, but this isn't an option with Home Premium.
