Passwords in case TEST/DEV.

Another quick (and fortunately we easy dradles)

I work in an environment where there are about 50 cases (of flavours - 8.0.4 to 11.2.0.2).

My question relates to the password that are specific application - custom schema passwords and passwords apps...

Do you provide the passwords above your team of developers/EBS Production support in your case TEST/development? (does not reference to PROD here)

If in all these cases, each has its own user account with all the privileges of the user APPS (select any etc...), what is the justification for a developer who need the APPS password?

It is advisable to give the APPS password in TEST/development cases?

Thank you

Do you provide the passwords above your team of developers/EBS Production support in your case TEST/development? (does not reference to PROD here)

We do this in all environments except TEST (which is used for QA and check the deployment scripts), UAT and PROD.

If in all these cases, each has its own user account with all the privileges of the user APPS (select any etc...), what is the justification for a developer who need the APPS password?

If you already have users of database created for the users with all the privileges and password apps should not be shared.

It is advisable to give the APPS password in TEST/development cases?

In a server how do we find Production, test and development databases. is there any command.

No, you need to know or need to know is TEST/DEV/PROD.

In most cases if the database is in Archivelog mode, then you can assume it as production.
Check if all RMAN tasks configured, it could PROD. Same job RMAN will be scheduled on DEV/TEST according to criticality.

Best answer, you can get the team. No ORACLE.

    1. no play with hashes
    2. no need to access the view DBA_USERS

    4. always a security risk to brute force tries to "guess" the password.

No - you will need to reset the existing passwords after the upgrade to take advantage of this feature

  • Mass case Tester: reference to aid data

    Hi all

I tried to use the tester of mass case my based on rules.

During the priming of the basis of rules, there is an option to 'Use reference data' initialization attr with values specified.

I was wondering how I can create/write/modify this reference file in (.) XDS format) to use for the data REF. Is there a writer or a schema format / needs adhire to.

    Thank you

This is the format used by the debugger within the OPM - so if you just build and debug without screens, you can enter your data and then use "Export to XML" to generate a file, which you can use to reference data.

The format is also quite simple if you have an obligation to generate programmatically.

    Hi all

I intend to update an instance of an instance of Test development. The source and target are in the same server.

Now my question is what do I have to use the xml system target file existing during the Post Clone using the syntax

Perl adcfgclone.pl dbTier [context of database target file]

Perl adcfgclone.pl appsTier [context APPL_TOP target file]

    or

    Should I start the

    1. I'm confused here because I don't know if I'm Port already in use error if I use the method later as I will reuse the existing port numbers.

    2. in addition, it would be great if you let me know how to get to the database and applications of port numbers. I know there is a rule of thumb to calculate the same.

    Kind regards

    Mahesh

    1. the question of whether I can use existing xml target file method or direct method when cloning a post?

You can do both. If you do not plan to change the DEV instantiate details (port number, directory names, SID,... etc) and then use the existing context files.

    2. because I'm refreshing will the node (both source & target in the same server), I get in a 'Port already in use question' I need to reuse already configured port numbers.

Not as you want to stop the DEV instance until you refresh it, if none of the ports will be in use.

    3. how to Port serial numbers? I suppose that there is a rule of thumb and a Metalink note for this but can't remember the ID. MetaLink

  • Passwords are case-sensitive in 11g

    Hello

It is a rather silly position, but I've been googling and can't find if Developer SQL supports case-sensitive or not connection. I read some other clients always send a 'uppercase' password (no matter how you typed it) that causes problems with Oracle 11 g. Is "compatible" with the new policy of the case-sensitivity of 11g SQL-Developer?

    Thank you.

Yes SQL Developer is certainly compatible with the case of 11g password.

The bug I mentioned in the stack trace turned out in fact to be the source of the problem. This is a bug in 10.1 when alleged relationships are used when the engine is using what is called "Immediate" mode of thinking, rather than the mode of thinking 'Deferred' usual that virtually all uses. In this case the MCT is one of the few tools we have that immediate uses think that mode.

I have found a workaround, which ironically uses a listener of inference to solve the problem. I'll email to you that I can not set anything in the public discussion forum.

The problem is already solved for our next release, so should not be a problem in the future.

  • Oracle 12 c disable case-sensitive password

    Is this possible and how?

    According

    https://docs.Oracle.com/database/121/UPGRD/deprecated.htm#UPGRD60022

The IGNORECASE argument of ORAPWD and the SEC_CASE_SENSITIVE_LOGON system setting are deprecated in Oracle Database 12c

Indeed, they are considered obsolete - by default, passwords are case-sensitive.

You can simply set SEC_CASE_SENSITIVE_LOGON FALSE.

  • Password case sensitive of 11G + DB Vs Oracle 10g reports

    Dear Experts,

Currently, we have migrated our database 10g R2 to 11g R2. 11g when using the password is case-sensitive and our password is the mixture of upper and lower charecters.

Our Oracle application server version 10g R2. When we call the report from oracle forms its doesn't open is not the page.
In queue in the report it shows as completed with error: REP-501: unable to connect to the specified database.
But if we keep our db 11g password all higher report runs correctly.

Where I have to change to have upper and lower as db 11g and 10g reports.

This is the right place to post this thread here or I have to post under reports.

    Please help us.

  • Test password protection site

Hi I wanted to password protect a test site I've been shooting to show the people you selected. I found this tutorial using PHP, which seems simple enough.

    http://www.zubrag.com/scripts/password-protect.php

The only problem is that he says he'll show you code protection to include in your pages. "Example of protection code would look like this (yours will be different): <? PHP include("/home/users/htdocs/security/password_protect.php");? >

Add this line of code to each php page you want to protect from the beginning of the source of the page (it should be the first line). "Now the problem is that my page is html based, can I add a PHP page token to my index page that does little code in password protect and how could I add the PHP page?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

I don't want to deter the .htaccess thing to try to get you. I will show you only a useful addition: my provider offers the possibility to protect every page of unauthorized access. I put a password in the suppliers form, and "at the drop of a hat", the necessary files are generated.

Please ask your provider or look at his site to get this service.

  • Set password Linux ATA hard drive / Toshiba Satellite Pro U200

Sorry for the long post, but I want to be as specific as possible:

    1)
I use a Toshiba Satellite Pro U200 under Linux (OpenSUSE) for some years now. Works fine without problems so far, even the fingerprint reader works. I deleted and never used the Windows XP preinstalled.

For security reasons, I have now decided to put a HDD ATA password, in case the laptop is lost or stolen (changed drive for a disk Seagate Momentus 7200 FDE.2 SATA II with full encryption of the disk material).

In order to get the protection offered by the full disk encryption, I need to set a password for the ATA. During startup, the Bios must request the password and unlock the drive only when the password is correct.

    2)
My problem is: in the Toshiba laptop it is impossible to set the hard drive ATA password directly in the bios (as is possible in HP laptops, for example). Toshiba there is only one way to set the password to disk, which is a software utility for Windows XP (named 'Assist'). But I don't want to change the operating system only to set this password.

    3)
Therefore, I tried the linux instructions

    hdparm - user-master m - security-all-pass SecretMasterPassword/dev/sda
    hdparm - user-master u - security-all-pass SecretUserPassword/dev/sda

which are used for adjustment ATA passwords. Indeed, at first, it seems to work very well. The password is set and the drive is locked.

    4)
When I restart the laptop, the Bios the HDD password request, as it should do.

But he does not accept the SecretUserPassword prior to seizure. The answer is "wrong password", or similar.

    5)
    Analysis:

I have no doubt that the password has been set correctly: I checked by restarting the laptop through rescue DVD in linux and unlock the disc via

    hdparm - user-master u - safety - unlock SecretUserPassword/dev/sda

in order to use it. No problem, it works as supposed to. After the release, the disc is usable as usual. And I can also disable the password via

    hdparm - user-master u - security - disable SecretUserPassword/dev/sda

After you disable the password, the laptop starts normally again, but I have no password.

When I re-enable the password bios Toshiba again asks the password during initialization, but does not accept the (correct) password on entry.

    6)
Does anyone have an explanation for this behavior?

Bios Toshiba has somehow changes the password entered by the user, before being sent to the disk? I think that this would be inconsistent with the ATA standard.

Anyone managed to set/change the password to ATA in a way that the disc can be unlocked via the internal order of the Bios, without installation of Windows XP and the Toshiba Software 'Assist '?

Thanks for reading this long post so far. Any response is welcome.

    hmetz
