Satellite P100 - does not start until then, what can I do?

I've had my laptop for about two years and treat it with kindness.

However, recently it has crashed on me with a blue error screen. Then, when it it restarted just slept on a black screen with the lights and the fan is running. I left it like that for a while, to see if it was just to be very slow, but not luck.

Help, please!

Hello

Hmm... You could try this workaround, Buddy:

Remove the AC adapter and the battery and wait an hour. Then connect the two devices again and try to start the laptop.
Maybe it works.

If this isn't the case, I think that you need help from a technician for laptop. It could be a malfunction of the equipment.
On the Toshiba site, you can search the nearest ASP:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported downloads & => find an authorized service provider

Good luck!

  • Satellite 2450 does not start - only in safe mode

    Hello

I'm having a problem with my Satellite 2450 where it is not initialize properly - is stuck in the screen of Windows XP (just continues to scroll through and hangs there).
I can boot into safe mode.
Have not had any other problems with it - no errors, do not have installed/uninstalled anything recently.

Any ideas what could cause this problem?
Do you think I should use the recovery disk to reinstall the OS? Anything less drastic I can try?

    any advice appreciated,
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Usually, if the laptop does not start correctly in normal mode, but only in SafeMode because some drivers or / and software applications are false or defective.
In this case, the recovery procedure should solve this problem.
If you n t have the Toshiba Recovery CD, you can install from the original CD of Microsoft's operating system, and then you can try to install stuff together from Toshiba (driver, tools)
These software, you will find on the page of the Toshiba driver.

  • Satellite M30: Does not start XP

My Tosh Satellite M30 laptop (with 2 HD discs) does not work after I have updated with the MS security updates, it does not start XP.

The laptop makes a clicking sound and gives me the message:

PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of
PXE - M0F: Exit PXE ROM
    Operating system not found.

I changed the boot order in the BIOS to: CDROM. And select Exit and save changes.
Inserted my Toshiba Recovery windows XP version that allows me the option of
    "1. the recovery disc" or "2. Expert recovery mode"or also"Exit ".
I chose "1. Recovery disc"as I'm not an expert (as you can tell!)

I then get a load of diagnostic checks run by laptop and it shows then finally on the screen:
    X:\\ no disk fixed

Ideally, I would like to repair and keep things I have on my drive D: HD.

I'm pretty sure the XP starts on my drive C: HD.

    Your help is very appreciated!

    Suraj

    Hello

The PXE message means that the device is trying to boot from the network. I put t understand you a lot with C and D HD. I assume you mean that you have two partitions on a single HARD disk. C partition for the operating system and the D partition for your data.

If I understood you as soon as you cannot boot operating system at all. On this path, it is not easy to say what may be the problem but obviously you a problem with the HARD drive. It is probably defective. If the recovery DVDs is not able to detect one that there may be a serious problem.

I put t know how contact the partner old Service your unit is but if the warranty is still valid and let check the device.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite A350 does not start

I have a Toshiba Satellite A350 (about a year and a half) who does not start correctly. This has happened after that the laptop was left on until the battery has failed. The button of the keyboard and the power LED lights up, but the screen stays black when I try to turn it on. I use Windows Vista.

The machine continues usually to make a sound whirring for a few seconds before it stops making noise (the fan and the HD). The screen flickers sometimes a lighter black on a screen for less than a second. In addition, the cooling fan has sometimes continued to operate after you stop all the rest.

Another problem is that when if it is turn on and go to the Toshiba screen, odd lines will fade to the screen, and finally the screen eventually white/blue. On the other hand, sometimes it turn on and act as if nothing had happened. In these times, placing sleep mode will be to not be a wheat to turn back on.

I tried removing the battery, using only the battery, fully charge the battery and using the laptop with barely any load from the battery and it doesn't change anything.

I would really appreciate any kind of lead as to what may be wrong with the poor.

    Hello

Generally speaking, it is always difficult to say something on these sometimes mistakes because it s not clear and can be caused by all parties, but at the moment I doubt that this problem is software partner

You see something on a screen when the internal screen stays black?

In the worst case, it s that a hardware malfunction and that would mean you need help from an ASP to check what part is affected, but if your laptop is under warranty, the repair is free.

  • Satellite M50 does not start, go back to the screen with different start modes

My Satellite M50-130 does not start correctly. When you turn it on, it goes to a black DOS screen, saying: "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this. "It offers me different start modes: Safe Mode, with networking and command prompt. Last good Configuration known; and start Windows normally.

I tried all the 5 options, gets the commissioning insofar as the Toshiba screen, but then with all the options, it returns to the initial screen offering the 5 modes of starting. Same thing happens when laptop works again.

The only recent software change, I've done was an update to Norton AntiVirus/Internet Security and I suspect that Norton is at least part of my problem, see history below. I know it's the Toshiba support site, but I tried Norton so many times without success, I gave up. Plus, I'm no expert at all, so I can't be sure that it is really the source of all my sorrows. All advice welcome!

The performance of my laptop has deteriorated seriously in the last two months. She is extremely slow, and cleaning of malware and unwanted General does not help. It began right after that I renewed the license of Norton last year and upgraded to the 2007 version. The worst downturns are always connected to direct upcoming Norton upgrade programs. I disabled the live upgrade, but programs always come to the top, and I can't stop them, a popup tells me that they are protected.

Wireless internet is also very capricious, even if another computer on the same network works fine.
During the last week, I had to relax a little internet security settings (from "moderate to severe" to "low to medium") because after an other update of Norton AntiVirus, I couldn't access to interactive Web sites.
It is perhaps a coincidence because Norton AntiVirus comes with updates at least twice a week - but what else could be the problem?

My apologies for the long rant, I am grateful for all the advice!
    Thank you
    I have.

    Hello

I think the only way to make your system works correctly again is to restore with the cdrom of onboard catering. Simply manage to save your data from your hard drive (the best way would be to put your machine's HARD drive in a USB - HDD enclosure and copy important data on another computer), then wipe the system completely off you hdd.

After that, the system must run again...

    Welcome them

  • Satellite C660 does not start on disc or USB

My Toshiba Satellite C660-DSC0QE app, BIOS version 1.80, will not start Windows more - it just goes to the dreaded black screen with white cursor.

I tried a system Win 7 recovery disk, a USB with software from Kaspersky on her recovery and even a full Win 7 installation disc, and it does not start at one of them.

The boot order is set correctly, (optical drive or USB port) devices are read, but their initialization never actually in them - there is an obscure error message, or it acts like they weren't there at all.

The obvious answer to these forums seems to be disable secure boot mode and then switch the to the CSM UEFI boot mode. Easier said than done - the menu options don't exist at all in my BIOS/CMOS screens.

Finally, I see no way in the instructions to get a BIOS update occur without being already in Windows on the PC - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9502M10000R01.htm I'm assuming that the BIOS version 2.00 would have these options.

    Any help gratefully accepted!

    Hello

I assumed that you have a white blinking cursor in the upper left corner.
    Is this correct?

These symptoms appear where the system can not find a boot device (HARD drive) or memory problems (RAM module).

First of all, you said that you have UEFI / CSM boot mode in the BIOS settings.
So I m asking you what parameters of start mode appear in BIOS exactly?
Find you these settings in the right area?
Usually, you should have an area (tab) called security in the BIOS.
In most cases, you will find a safe boot option, but the Satellite C660 does not support this option because it s too old.
But the startup mode (UEFI /CSM) should be available in the BIOS. Check the settings in the BIOS of the system area

Anyway, as I said above; It could also be a memory problem, so I recommend you to check if the memory is OK.

  • Satellite L650 does not start

Have had problems over several weeks with my laptop does not start up. See: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=65765

Worked fine until last night for a week or two. Booted up ok, but gadgets has not appeared and no Yahoo Messenger that starts automatically.
I couldn't click on all items on the desktop or the bar at the bottom of the screen. Stop and asked if I wanted to force closing down of applications that were still running. I said yes.

Laptop turns off and then when I rebooted it came with the screen Toshiba startup and startup of Windows and the Windows logo but then received the message that Windows could not start and I wanted to start normally or repair. I ran repair, but the AI get after Windows loading files is the cursor on a black screen.

I tried to turn off and then I get the message when start saying that WIndows did not start successfully and I want to repair or start normally?

If I click on the repair, it comes up saying Windows is loading files and then I just get the cursor on a black screen. The hard drive light does not illuminate and nothing seems to happen (I used to open a new window).

I tried pressing F8 at startup upward and I select the Windows repair option, but that said just from Windows and then I get the cursor on the screen black as above. I have also tried changing the boot sequence so that it boots from CD/DVD first and insert the recovery disks, but once again nothing.

I'm now getting really tired after you have everything reinstalled at least 4 times in the last two weeks.

    I do
    (a) buy a new copy of Windows 7 and the gap of the partition recovery that she clearly doesn't seem to work;
    (b) throw the whole 18 months old laptop and buy a different brand or
    (c) is it possible that it's the hard drive which is a failure and that I should buy a new hard drive and Windows 7 DVD?

Any help is appreciated because it drives me crazy!

    Nigel

    > I ran repair, but all THE get after Windows loading files is the cursor on a black screen.

    > but that said just from Windows and then I get the cursor on the screen black as above. I have also tried changing the boot sequence so that it boots from CD/DVD first and insert the recovery disks, but once again nothing.

Looks like the HARD drive is faulty.
You can test the HARD drive with freeware like Drive Fitness Test or similar tool, but car aptitude test would help you to create a bootable diskette that would test the HARD drive.

I think that the HARD drive needs to be replaced if errors would be detected according to the news from the other thread, you have created a recovery disc, so it shouldn't be a big problem to reinstall the operating system once more once the HARD drive has been replaced.

  • Satellite A100: Does not start a recovery DVDs

    Hi guys.
    First timer here.
I have read some of the Q & A on reboot problems the A100 since the recovery DVDs.
It seems I have the same problems as keith.

I want to start all over again the OS and my laptop does not start from the DVD.
Tried the standard f12 boot from cd option. tried her "hold C on the boot option.
Both options end with no joy.

The screen that says "loading ramdisk image", loads the machine breaks, asks me to wait, then every time the same thing.
The screen goes black, flashes very quickly and white and then loads from the hard disk as normal.

Now try to hold my frustration and do something radical.
I know that in the Q & A previous, the subject is considered as replied...
    other options?

My following thoughts are to delete/uninstall almost every thing and try and force the thing to boot from the DVD.
have also copied the dvd and tried to boot from the copy, always with no joy.

    Are there any other suggestions?

Is it possible to put a partition in the existing drive and start the recovery dvd in there, then delete the junk of the original section of the drive, and then delete the partition?

is it possible to close all essential processes and format the HARD drive?

is it possible to reset the HARD drive somehow?

    see you soon,
    Martin

    Hello Martin

To be honest, it's pretty strange question. There is one thing I am interesting for:
Is - this first time, you try to use a recovery media for the installation of the OS?

If possible, try to get the Microsoft CD/DVD facilities to see if the same thing will happen.

In any case, I will try to give you answers to your questions.
    > Is it possible to put a partition in the existing drive and to start the recovery dvd in there, then delete the junk of the original section of the drive, and then delete the partition?
It will not work. On the recovery of the media it is recovery image and this image must be installed correctly. You cannot "recover DVD in there. Not question

    > is it possible to close all essential processes and format the HARD drive?
I would like to know what you understand under the 'essential processes?

    > Is it possible to reset the HARD drive somehow?
You can't do this somehow. If you want to 'reset' HARD drive, you must delete the existing partition or delete any OS installation. After having done that, you need to install new OS. All this will be done at the beginning of the recovery procedure.

I really don't understand what's wrong there. Please answer to my first question, and we will continue this discussion. ;)

  • Satellite C650 does not start - error PXE - M0F

Just bought a Satellite C650, get it home and my son decided to stop the whole upward as he ran.

Now, we get the error below:

Check the connection of the cable!
PXE - M0F: Exit Intel PXE ROM
No boot device - insert boot disk and press any key.

We received no drives, nor a manual with adequate instructions and can't find anything on the web for help.
    Toshiba closes for the day.

Hoping that this forum could give me an idea.

    Hello

PXE error is displayed because the laptop has attempted to boot from LAN.
Why it does not start from the HARD drive but LAN switches?
I think the HARD drive is defect.
Perhaps its also not recognized in BIOS.

Switch on and press F2. This allows you to access the BIOS where you could check if the HARD drive is recognized. I guess it must be mentioned on the first page.
If it s not there, then it means that the HARD drive is dead and must be replaced.

I assume that the warranty is still valid; Therefore, you should get in touch with Toshiba ASP in your country for replacement.

  • Satellite 2410 does not start

    Hi all
I have a s S2410-304, which worked properly until today.
After trying to fix the speaker, I removed all pieces to open Notepad to reach the meachanic parts near the speaker. But I could not remove the upper part of the lower panel and put it all together.
Eventually the system could not be started! The Green LED for power and the battery is lighting.
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you
    Eckhard

    Hi Eckhard,

Try diconnecting the specifications of the AC power and remove the battery for a few minutes. Then reconnect the plug AC and try to turn on your laptop.

If the system still does not start, then there is a problem with your motherboard and you will need to get your laptop repaired by authorized service center.

    Kind regards
