Path of the file on the Mac network server

Whenever I have to create a link, I need to dig 7 clicks to get the files from site that I'm looking.

I just started using a Mac, with sites located in a network SMB server. Therefore, this issue could be associated with Mac/Samba.

(When you work on a PC all paths to the site for the files I was working on locally attached by default to the root of the current site.)

I am currently working on sites located on a network. I set sites on the Mac. However, when I open the file on the network server and try to create a link, the default file browser in the Documents directory on my local Mac system. So I click 6 clicks to enter the correct network directory. This occurs for each link. I hope that there is something that I can change somewhere to set the path of current default file of the document being edited.

Thank you.

Oh! Gotcha! Yep, that's how it works on my Mac. Rather boring.

It might be better/easier just drag the link icon to your site window for
make the connection in this way, or if they are images, just drag the images of
part of your site on your page.

  • Better conservation to use for the Mac Mini Server

    Hi all

    I have a Mac Mini, I want to start using a server around the House. Manage other Macs around the House, centralized Time Machine and are also used as a file server for both Windows I have machines.

    Therefore, a Mac Mini with 500 GB of storage, so I obviously need to add much more. Ideally, I'd like to build a 5 4 Bay RAID system but it is there, I seem to be failing and need help. I seem to have 3 options - stroke of lightning, USB, or NAS.

    Love at first sight seems to be too much and a lot of people say he exaggerated in any case for a home installation

    NAS seems to be the most cost-effective way, but then negates the point of the Mac server still?

    USB looks good, but I can't find any decent USB enclosures, are there who would recommend?

    Thanks in advance

    Mike

    Unfortunately, many would say that Macs are not appropriate to use as real servers for businesses, however some do and for small businesses, they are perfectly usable. Obviously in a situation of host concern the most appropriate a Mac as a server is completely different.

    While the most common choice for the storage of a Mac server these days would be an external RAID Thunderbolt for example the promised Pegasus R4 and R6 lines, I agree for a location that a NAS solution may be more appropriate.

    A NAS can act as a universal file for Mac and Windows PC server, should not let the Mac on all the time, and most NAS devices support also act as a Time Machine backup server. However, some people say that based NAS servers Time Machine are not reliable enough and you may use a real solution of Apple as a Capsule or a Mac running Server.app and sharing a drive as a destination of Time Machine.

    I agree somewhat that NAS based Time Machine systems will not be as reliable as a real Apple one, but I'd also probably say that they are not either completely useless. For example, I use a NetGear ReadyNAS as a system of Time Machine and I'm pretty happy with it.

    In addition, for external storage, there are additional options.

    • USB, as you said
    • FireWire is always possible even if you suddenly need lightning to FireWire adapter, you can even get a FireWire RAID solution
    • Love at first sight as the promised Pegasus system I mentioned
    • NAS - you can connect to it via NFS and "re - share" via AFP via the Mac server
    • iSCSI Ethernet to a NAS system, could be directly at a customer or could be're-shared' via AFP
    • Fiber Channel to aid suddenly in love with FDDI card and then have a configuration Fibre Channel SAN - very expensive and often used by video editors
    • Maybe a bolt of lightning to eSATA adapter, then an eSATA storage solution
  • Different segment of the USB network server error

    Concerning

    Hi David,

    Thanks for the update on the issue.

    If the problem persists, try these methods below and see if that solved the problem.

    Method 1:

    There may be several reasons why a computer is not able to detect a signal wireless adapter. Wireless networks appear only if your PC has a wireless network card installed, the adapter is turned on and the wireless access point is within reach. Many network connection problems are caused by hardware that is not configured or the drivers are not installed properly. Follow the steps described in the article below to check on all aspects and troubleshoot accordingly.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/help/wired-and-wireless-network-connection-problems-in-Windows

    Method 2:

    If you cannot connect to a network, it could be a problem with your network adapter. You can try to use the network adapter troubleshooting utility to automatically find and fix some common problems.

    How can I troubleshoot network card?

  • Error calling CFC {path to the cfc} Internal Server Error

    I have a CFC bind cfgrid passing page, pagesize, etc... some search entered to a cfc function. I have a cfgridcolumn which is a checkbox column (display checkbox images in as the column and I have a Javascript click here for images to the box unchecked/enabled the user will treat as a checkbox if it's pictures of box). I have more than 1,000 records in the grid and I have a drop down for the check all button the cfgridcolumn passing whole entity ID to a javascript function that creates a proxy cfajax call to invoke a cfc method and post these identifiers to this method, this method receives all the ID of 1000 + entity to a temporary table and invoke an oracle stored procedure changes in the table and Finally my grid refreshes as well as I can see that are all checked images of the check box in the controls cfgrid. It works very well in my localhost (CF 9 + Windows + Jboss) but everything by moving files to the Dev (CF 9 + Linux + Apache) Server I get error invoking CFC's internal server error. What is interesting is if I spend less than 500 ID entity that it works very well in Dev server. Why it does not work if I spend more than 500 feature ID.

    Thanks for your reply. I had solved it. I spent all of the 1000 + entity ID as an a list separated by commas to the FCC who does not like in a Linux environment. So I changed to a table object instead of comma-separated list values and pass it as an argument of table to CFC. Now, it works fine.

    I created a simple .bat file to make the necessary mod and add the line to pref.js. When I run the file, it displays the prefs.js to the same location, not the Mozilla AppData folder. We are active with folder redirection Win7 environment. As a result, Mozilla. our users AppData folder is located at \\my domain\dfs\XenDesktop\Profiles\username\AppData\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default (the default random profile name). My question is what is the best course of action to add this file any PC user pref.js.? Keep in mind that the pref.js is located on the path to the hidden network that I have included above. I apologize if my question is not easy to understand.

    COR - el, I thank you once again for your help. I was able to use lockPref, set the value of, network.automatic - ntlm - auth.trusted - URIS.

  • Mac Mini server RAID spoil

    This follows a previous thread of mine.  Previously, the Mac mini server (2009, 3.1 I think) would not start.  The Apple logo and the spinning wheel seems forever.

    I found the boot disk and a USB optical drive and so I went in disk utility.  I got the software RAID 1 set up.  Hard drives were fine, physically, but the whole RAID said it is "degraded" and one of the volumes said it failed.  I tried rebuilding it but failed.  I did not delete the volume down, instead, I deleted the whole RAID, thinking that I would be able to start the disks as standalone.  Instead, or volumes are mounted, they not only mount when I click Mount, and when I turn on the machine, I now get the folder with the?.  No volumes appear when I hold down the option key when starting.  I tried discs of fixation of the Terminal and he says they were mounted with success, but they were not.  I must be missing something in the commands, I don't know them well.  I tried to create a new RAID array, but he said that all the data would be deleted.  At any given time, two RAID volumes said that they failed, and then the RAID array would not appear or appear offline as opposed to gradient.

    I screwed myself by removing the raid array?  Both drives are dismantled and their partition type is "Apple_RAID_Offline".

    Can I fix this and back up my data?

    I fixed readers are not mounted or named myself.  They are (were) mounted as an independent non-RAID drives.  They needed to be repaired and could not repair one of them says however, disk utility.  Disk utility also told me at my backup files and wipe the readers.  How can I back up my files if I can't start the machine?  There is no Finder on Mac OS X Server installation disc.

    Any suggestions?

  • [JS MAC] Problem of path of the file with special characters

    Hello

    I'm trying to declare the path of a file on a text file. One of the folders includes a special character such as "love".

    So, when I try to write a txt file with this path, it fails.

    Here are some that I've isolated for debugging.

    The problem appears on a Mac, but may be present on a PC as well.

    Given a file open in Indesign

    This file is placed in a subfolder named "love."

    Dittos var = line (app.activeDocument.fullName);
    var myFileFullName = theFile.fsName;
    var modifsArr = [];
    modifsArr.push (myFileFullName);
    var queue = txtFile (Folder.desktop + "/ test.txt");
    If (file (Folder.desktop + "/test.txt").exists is false))
    {
    var txtFile = new file (Folder.desktop + "/ test.txt");
    }

    txtFile.open ("e");
    txtFile.seek (0.2);
    modifsArr = modifsArr.join ("\r");
    theFile.write (modifsArr); Here the writing fails
    theFile.close ();

    How can I solve that?

  • If I replace my 32-bit Windows 7 with a 64-bit version, can I still keep my old files, settings of the domain network and mac address?

    We bought the RAM for one of our PC, an upgrade from 4 GB to 8 GB. Naturally, we must now upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.

    Our PC is running on a domain within a university network network. We have experienced some problems with one of our PC recently, so I reinstalled Windows 32 bit (no formatting). After which I simply installed the motherboard network drivers, and with one or two small parameters we were back on the domain network. Previous data has been saved to the Windows.old folder, so we kept all our old data and re-installing Windows fixed all the problems we had.

    It is therefore clear that a reinstallation of 32-bit retains all the necessary parameters to return immediately to the domain network. My question is, will an upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit also keep the settings? Apparently, the essential is that the MAC address must remain the same, which I suppose it would be?

    Thanks, I appreciate the comments.

    I'm not so worried about the data, let's back up on an external drive anyway. The main concern is the connectivity of the network domain. If we lose this connection after the Windows Installation, you pay the University of departmental again it to the installation program.

    If you go from 32-bit to 64-bit Windows, you must perform a cleanup
    installation. An upgrade is not possible. The new facility
    begin by formatting the drive, and all the disk are lost.

  • No network has agreed the provided network path

    Hi all

    I have a network of "Working group" composed of two XP Pro PC, a XP Pro laptop, a network printer and a router Linksys (BEFSR41) attached to a Wireless Linksys (WRT54G) router.  All PC's are running
    identical versions of protection ESET, WIN XP Pro, etc.

    When wired, every PC can access the internet, can share (explores/delete/copy/move, etc.) of files, can access the printer, etc..  In other words, they work as they are supposed to.

    When you use the connection Wireless on my laptop, it's different.  The laptop can access to internet and printer, but none of the two PC.  Also, none of the two PC can access the laptop either.  When I try to explore (Windows) wireless, or if I try to communicate with the PC in any other way, I get the message error 'no network did accept the provided network path '.

    I searched on the web and even tried the stuff that has no sense ("turn print files sharing & '...) If it were not already activated then why it would work when wired?).  I even tried a new wireless router with the same results.  Again, everything works as expected when cables.

    The ONLY time I was able to access the shared files on every PC wireless was when I turned off the wireless security.  In other words, if I turn off the key WEP/WPA/etc. of the wireless router, THEN I can do everything I could when wired wireless.  I don't feel comfortable in this regard ;-).

    I didn't used to have this problem so I suspect it may have been caused by Windows software update or security.

    Someone please offer suggestions of what I could try to fix this? I would surely appreciate!

    Is ' all remember in the movie "Jumping Jack Flash" where
    Whoopie Goldberg was given to the riddle "what is the KEY? '?

    IT IS CORRECTED! Now, the bad news... I am not sure whether
    set by one, or a combination of things (and don't have the)
    time to revisit every step, one at a time, to determine).

    First of all, I have disabled dynamic DHCP on the router and then tried to
    give a fixed IP address to each device on the network. Since I was
    am not a magician, I can not done correctly.
    Believer, I took unnecessary devices out of the network
    now that a desktop PC and laptop. Everything that
    has worked properly wired, but not wireless. This
    eliminated the DHCP server as the cause.

    I also tried static IP addresses with MAC filtering. Even
    result.

    It was suggested to use the router installation disc
    in the laptop, making sure what was the ONLY PC attached to
    the router set up. I decided to wipe it off, restart
    from scratch and a router reset (to factory specifications).
    Using the drive led me to unexpected errors in communication
    When installing... I must have tried three times before
    have the installation go properly due to a notch or
    another being incorrect on the laptop. I'm not sure to this
    point to know if the settings have been changed during testing or
    before that the problem surfaced first. I'm sorry. :-(. In any case, after
    the installation went through, I was back to square one with
    the same results and it was time to implement a
    Routine Diagnostic basis of strategy!

    Remember I mentioned in my OP that I disabled the
    security without wire, then everything worked? It was my
    main index. The router instruction manual * clearly *.
    indicates that the network will run as expected if the
    the router security key does not match the security key
    used in wireless devices (laptop). I must have read that
    100 times.

    In the router under Wireless Security Setup window
    It offers a choice of security key for "Disabled", "WPA."
    ("Personal", "WPA-Enterprise", "WPA2 Personal", "WPA2)
    Company', 'RADIUS' and 'WEP '.

    On the laptop, in the "Properties".
    File Association tab there is a drop down menu to
    'Network authentication '. Here, I can choose a security key
    of 'Open', 'shared', "WPA", "WPA - PSK", "WPA2" or "WPA2-PSK.

    This is where it gets confusing. Apparently, there is a
    difference between what the router calls a security key and
    What laptop called a key... In other words, security
    the key of the router offers are not * identical * to the
    choice of laptop. After learning what are the differences each
    security key was, I determined "WPA Personal" is not the same
    like "WPA - PSK". "PSK" is not equal "Personal" means
    "Pre-shared Key". My bad. How stupid of me to not assume that
    the names were different! Why are there no uniformity between
    that the router offered and what are the choices has had the laptop?

    Knowing 'Disabled' (called 'Open' in the laptop - see the)
    similarity?) worked, I tried the next enhanced security
    key, 'WEP '. That selection offered some protection but not
    everything worked! Then I tried "WPA" then "WPA - PSK", etc.
    until I found (what I believe to be) the only security key
    to work properly... "WPA2 Personal" on the router and "WPA2".
    in the laptop (SAME aspect you?) allowed me to do
    all that I could do wired! I had assumed
    erroniously, that if the next highest security key does not
    work, none would be. I was wrong!

    Weird: I believe in my frustration, before
    by selecting the WPA2 key, I'm distracted me and I ran the
    Assistant wireless network on the desktop PC. Keep in mind
    This PC has no wireless card. After having 'done '.
    with success", I explored the laptop and vice versa
    Wireless! This step may or may not be the "KEY" to all the
    the long, sorry.

    BTW, I think it was "D" (the key the song was written in)
    ;-))).

  • Path to the file on the virtual machine

    Hi people

    I am aware of VMRUN and would use call programs on the virtual computer and move files between the host and the guest.  I don't know exactly what it does good, nor how these virtual machines are actually structured, so I would like someone to clarify for me if it is even possible to have a host path to a file on the client VM.

    For example, I use scripts from my Mac that do a lot of editing on the side of the virtual Windows machine - is there is a way, I can use to refer to and modify a file on the virtual machine without using VMRUN.

    Thank you very much!

    Mirroing is a little difficult, I don't think that anything that is either duplicated with shared folders.  What happens is the Windows to the Documents, music, path is set to a UNC path (vmware-host\), which is served by the VMware HGFS file system, a mechanism for sharing private with OS X.  In OS X, just the files live in any directory is shared.  But that's what you say, a place with several shared paths.

    For SMB sharing, sharing so once mounted on your Mac, OS X uses a SMB client to Yes go on the network to access files in your guest VM files standard Windows.  All traffic is host only, unless the virtual machine is filled and you use the Wifi connection, in which case the traffic can "bounce" the point of wireless as a jump.  There are ways to optimize the network path, so all traffic is strictly host only.

    I have not benchmarked HGFS v. SMB, but there is a "tax" anyway compared to the opening of the VM file on its file system local.  For your use case, it is probably useful to check the two options.

  • Showing the full path of the file in the Save as dialog box

    I'm a relatively new for MAC OS and I took the habit of intelligent services on Microsoft file manipulation, in particular to the Save as dialog box. Who has a little smart "arrows" and "buttons" allowing you to ask around the system of files easily, but I faced something else in the MAC operating system.

    Finally, I was able to pass on the path of file bar in the Finder (basically, that nice, small bar with the name of folders/sub-sub-sub-folders you can switch to and it shows "where you are both in the file system"), but I don't miss the Save as dialog box. I tried to find it in the settings to turn it on, scoured the internet, talked with experts at Apple, also called the central phone number, but I couldn't learn all solutions to get the bar path of file under tension to the Save as dialog box.

    And believe me, it's very annoying, when you create a file structure when you register under ' week/Tuesday/XY client Documents/work/approvals/journal/2016/August/2nd /' a file and for the recording of the version changed the same file under the same path, but not to not only return to the file a subfolder creation there AB of the customer, I have to click again through the whole lot.

    The arrows 'story' don't help because when I click on the it puts me directly to record under the folder where I have the last recorded the previous file, or help click on the drop-down above, where records are listed because I could never find the subfolder where I want to go back to there.

    Are there solutions to get the path of file under tension to the Save dialog box under?

    Or is there a plan to get it in the new version of the operating system?

    It is the same on the open file dialog box...

    ..., and I don't want to keep a Finder opens just to copy..., on the way to the record, which was the same effort and has been even more professional!

    I would like to just turn this simple file path bar,..., even that which is available in the Finder!

    Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks for sharing your thoughts in advance, Ian
