Pavilion a6500f will not play CD/DVD
Everything has worked until a couple of days, when the Optiaric DVD RW cannot read or recognize anything. It will not read a music CD or a CD of the software. I tried to reinstall/upgrade to update the driver, but each time it says that the installation/update failed. I tried this from the menu troubleshooting as well as HP Web site.
I've tried using pages say to do. I even uninstalled all hoping it would recognize it as new, but when the computer restarts, I received a message that says that the driver installation failed.
Is there anything else I can do?
Thank you in advance, I hope!

My windows media player will not play a DVD
My windows media player will not play a DVD: Microsoft Windows 95 Version 5.1 (Build 2600.XP_SP3_gdr.111025 - 1629:Service Pack 3). Download a free version of media player to play the DVD? Please tell me the name of the upgrade and where to find the free download version, if so. Thank you!
First thing that you do not run windows 95 if your build number is 2600.XP_SP3 it is a build number of windows XP. Second, you will not be able to play DVDs using this version of windows and media player only. The reason for this is DVD is a standard that a group of companies shut down and basically, they demand rights fees to use, it codec, which you don't have. You will need get a program that has integrated these codec (or find them somewhere). Your best option for this is to completely abandon the but of the using Media player to play your DVD (unless you are looking to buy another piece of software). There is a free option that I use on my machine Windows 7 Basic its called VLC is a free player that makes just about every format out there (not sure Bluray). VLC uses its own codec (I think it's developed for the linux community orginially) rather than using the codec of the industry. You can find the program at http://www.videolan.org/

Satellite A100: Mat * a DVD - RAM UJ - 841S will not play modern DVD
It's weird, music CD's fine, game DVD and data DVDs no problem but if I want to watch a recent movie, my dvd drive is disabled. What a weird copy protection? I bought this partially to watch movies when the main TV set wasn't available and I feel ripped off the coast. Old DVDs are fine (the monster inc etc). Work on this late nights trying to see what is wrong. The DVD even work on my friends mac so I don't understand. He believes that it is a windows thing done on purpose.

Perhaps you have trouble with the more recent Double-Layer (9 GB) DVD.Of course, it may be a copy protection, too cause some movies using a very unusual way to make sure that they play on a "locked region" disc.

These DVD movies check if your player is able to play a 'region' that is different than the current DVD that plays, and if they do, they will not start.

Alienware 14 will NOT play the DVD-
I just spent $1,800 on a new computer Alienware 14, and I'm NOT happy.
Slot load optical drive will play Blu-Rays.
It won't play a DVD. I can't find a firmware update, or anything like that. It is located in Mashita UJ167. It is fixed at 1/region A.
While the DVD is not as important that they were a few years ago, I certainly will spend $1800 on a computer that is defective. If someone had a similar problem and knows a solution, please help.

Satellite M40-145: CD/DVD player will not play some DVD
Hello!
I am the owner of a Satellite M40-145 bought a little over a year; DVD driver worked perfectly until three days ago, but today I discovered something... strange. Still, it reads the DVD business and burned the DVD + r, but apparently it does not read the DVD - r serious more. I tried with different DVD - Rs, I burned the same DVD player, without success; trying to access the DVD gives a message "insert the disk in drive D:".
In this case, I'm talking about movies on DVD. Please tell me there is a way to fix this without sending the computer to the customer service...
I wouldn't think he fell down a few days after the expiry date of the guarantee.Hello
Well, you can try to remove the Device Manager order form.
After restarting again the reader should be recognized again. Then, check if it is possible to read the DVD - R, CD.But the question sounds like a lens calibration error. If you use different media, the lens must be calibrated again. But if this procedure fails, the drive is not able to read or write the DVD for example.
Unfortunately, in this case only the replacement of the drive will resolve this problem. -
When you try to play a DVD in Windows Media Center or media player, the video starts, but there is a loud cracking sound with no sound of music. This Media Center has played the DVD in the past.
My system is: Vista Home Premium
NVIDIA GeForce 8500
Hauppauge Win TV HVR-1600
Realteck HD audio
ViXS Pure TV - U 48BO
I checked these devices using HP Hardware Diagnostic tools and they work. I uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled. Also updated all the drivers.Reading this forum, I tried to delete the file from library: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Medial Player
So far, nothing has solved the problem.
Thank you for your response.
I went through the steps. He has not fixed the problem. The good news is that I stumbled upon a fix. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Realtek Audio drivers. Which corrects the problem.
Thank you.
