Pavilion dm4: Pavilion dm4 disk hard thickness ompatibilty

I'm asking this as a general issue of the Pavilion dm4 that there are others who may be in the same situation, but did not have the same model

My real models are 1050ef and 1164nr

My question is what thicknesses of 2.5 "hard drives are compatible with of dm4 and my modes of models in particular.  I can't find this exact information in the specifications.  I have now, for example, the 1050ef takes care of 9.5 mm thick, but are 7mm drives also compatible?

Hello

The hard drive is placed in a basket (attachment) in the laptop. This means that 7mm hard drives are certainly compatible that they can contain. However, size large drives such as 12 mm could be a problem. Just make sure that the ability is just as older hard drives of 1 TB in laptop computers may not work.

I'm looking to replace the hard drive in my ENVY 15 t-j000 Quad Edition with an SSD. HP site is not currently in the thick of the preinstalled hard drive. I'd rather get an ssd that leaves no extra unused space in the computer. What is the thickness of the hard disk installed in the ENVY 15 t-j000 Quad edition so I can pass to an ssd the same size? Thank you.

It is very safe to use 7mm thick, as mentioned in my first answer.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

See Page 39. It can take any 2.5 inch wide 9mm thick laptop SATA hard drive. They are the industry standard, interchangeable.

Here's one that I would recommend:

It is a compromise that is friendly with size, speed and spending. You could install an SSD for maximum speed. Post back if you need help with the software or anything else.

  • HP Pavilion dv6: System recoovery after replacing the HD because of the disk hard 301 error

I have problems with the original of my HP Pavilion dv6 PC hard drive portable. I get an alert (SMART disk error 301) every time that I reboot, but I can still load my Windows 7.

I just bought a new hard drive (SSD SATA3), but I would like to recover my original OS using my license key.

How can I do? Should I create a partition on the new disk (D, copy the contents of my RECOVERY disc and use Esc + F11 after reboot?) Do I need a recovery CD/DVD? In this case, can I create one of my system?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Drive smart error 301 indicated fall drive hard/failed hard drives

If you have recovery disks, no need for product key, insert the disc after replaced by the new fair SSD & insert the recovery disks to reinstall everything, including the recovery partition.

You can also order HP recovery discs

You must ensure that the size of the SSD is equal to or greater than the size of the previous HARD drive to perform successfully the recovery discs recovery.

If you have not created recovery disks, you can create one - http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01867418

Back up all your personal data now first.

    any help please.

Other features are 8 GB DDR3 RAM, Intel 3210 M core i5 processor and other things like bluetooth wifi etc etc.

SSD upgrade will improve the time of startup and overall performance drastically than anything else. SSD boot drive is an excellent choice. Use tools of cloning the SSD manufacturer (from their website) or other free tools available, to migrate the OS.

Download, run this tool to know the SATA HDD type:
    https://www.Piriform.com/Speccy

SSD now on the market is of SATA3 (6Gbps), it'll work in your laptop your model SATA connector to be I, II or III. They are compatible with reverse.

  • I need help, find how to install Windows Vista on a HP Pavilion 6475z disk.

I need help, find how to install Windows Vista on a HP Pavilion 6475z disk.   I had to replace the hard drive, so he has nothing about it and I added more ram, but I replace the cd player so it is not yet installed on the HP.   So I was wondering if I could put the installation disc in my laptop cd/dvd and connect computers by usb ports and install it this way and if not how can I?

    Thank you

    Hello

    You are welcome

If the CD/DVD drive in the works of PC Gateway, you can (at least temporarily) remove it and install it in the HP, you can run your recovery disc and reinstall Vista.  Once everything is running on the HP, you can always remove the CD/DVD drive and reinstall it in the gateway PC if you wish.

  • Pavilion 15-p080ca hard drive not detected in Win8, 03F1 0021 03F0 Bios errors, impossible to recover

    Hello

I bought a new laptop from Windows 8 15-p080ca tigerdirect.ca Pavilion and he received a couple of days.

The computer restarts randomly when working on it, I remember reading an IO error message in a popup windows.

Since then, he constantly reboot, tries to load windows, fails and restarts until the auto repair is involved.

Journal of the system BIOS has to many warnings and error: 03F0, 03F1, 0021.  I had about 3 times a hard drive not found error on POST.

I can't repair the installation either by partition recovery or recovery discs, I get "the disc is locked error" or "auto repair could not fix your pc.

Also Manager of recovery can not find the recovery partition.

On the command prompt diskpart list disk;  "There is no fixed disk to show.

However, the live cd Ubuntu and xp Mini are able to see all the partitions, view files and read them, a quick HDtune read test indicates no disk error.

The computer is able to read disk hard since I am able to get on the recovery and windows tries to load until I get "your pc ran into a problem that he couldn't handle and must be restarted.

HP PC Hardware diagnostic SMART test, short DST returns warning.  Diagnostic test of smart HP returned message 'no hard drive installed' only once.

Whatever it is that the base Windows 8, if the recovery disc, original media is not able to see the hard drive.

I tried to boot the recovery disc, the recovery partition with each combination of Legacy support and secure start to recover partitions without success because the hard drive is not detected (from diskpart list disk command).  The recovery DVDs, I get an error 0xefffff08. I also tried to remove the thought of recovery partition that he might want to move things faster.

Well, after many hours of research and testing, I think I tried everything I could do and would need support for additional testing or replacement of the defective material.

Thank you very much in advance for your help,.

    Jonathan.

Contacted HP Support, laptop, go to the repair center.  Probably the location of the hard drive to the motherboard as they said.

Then, usually when I start it back up I wait because if I immediately she (of a hard disk failure), even if I can make it work if I wait like 15 minutes that I don't quite understand. Also when I try to update the computer he fails to do so and uninstalls the updats and goes back to what it was before. I got this computer a little over a year now, and it really started to hurt. What I'm asking is, if there is anything I can do to fix this or should I just get a new hard drive. At the moment I'm typeing my portable macbook almost 10 years, because it is more reliable than my PC for $ 600 1 years.

    I'm happy to help you.

You can actually buy the same size or larger than the existing hard drive for System Recovery media work.  The offered readers when you bought the computer are 1 to, 2-to-3.  As indicated, you can buy one the same size or more great.  Here's a 1 TB drive that will work on your computer.  If you don't want to buy this one, it's a good example of what you need.

  • Compaq presario v6000 v6409tu disk hard bios self-test fail

    Hello

Windows xp no my pc compaq v6000 not starting and bluescreen showed a couple of times. I ran the BIOS (phoenix) disk hard diagnosis and the test failed. When I opened my HDD I noticed green rust as deposits into the connector on the hard drive. After cleaning with a brush, computer loaded XP successfully. But an hour later, while I was surfing in mozilla suddenly the mouse pointer started late and showed computer blue screen saying that windows has been closed down to prevent damage.

I would be grateful if someone can tell me if it's a software problem or hard drive error. If I need to replace my hard drive, what are my options, for example. rpm, capacity, provider? Thank you.

The only way you could have rusted copper into the connector on the hard drive is if liquid got in there so I am reluctant to try to speculate how much damage has been done. I remove the hard drive and connect it to the outside to another computer and run chkdsk on it to see if the drive itself is bad. As long as there is a problem on the part of connector and the interface with the motherboard cannot really trust the onboard hard drive Diagnostics. You could also get an own another new hard drive adapter.

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/new-Compaq-Presario-C700-F500-F700-V6000-SATA-laptop-hard-drive-connector-/161297513053?PT=US_Drive_Bay_Caddies & Hash = item258e14ba5d

If it does not turn on the hard drive is bad, you can replace it with any laptop SATA drive no more than 9.5 mm thick.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16822145587

Above is a good thing. It is slim (7mm) but it will still go into the caddy and connect to the motherboard with the connecting piece. If the hard drive itself is always good, and you replace the connector piece but he always bluescreens, so I would not spend money on a new hard drive. I would say that there was damage to the motherboard.

I have a Tecra A9 in need of resettlement, what I like to do for me.
I have a very good password on the HARD disk which I do not wish to give. So I want to change it or remove it completely.

Please someone, how do I do? In the BIOS, I don't see that it has been defined, but all what I try, I can not change or get rid of it.

Maybe I should add that since the original installation of the PC it was years ago and I don't remember not the 'Administrator' password.

Everything is under control. I know the 'controller' password and have already successfully removed the BIOS password. Smart TPM is disabled.

BUT what the disk hard drive password?
    Any help much appreciated!

    It has password always news.

    Thank you

    Hello

I hope that you use the correct and just HARD drive password because it of necessary to remove and delete the existing HARD disk password.
If you have forgot the password for HARD drive then the HARD drive should be locked and you would not be able to unlock the HARD drive!

Generally, the HARD drive password can be deleted in the BIOS.
Please ensure that another password would be removed too.

I found a forum thread useful on a password disk HARD similar question:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=66386𐍒

According to the information published by the user jonr17 you must first make sure that all other like BIOS passwords, user and supervisor passwords are removed.
Then try to remove the HDD from the BIOS password.
