Pavilion dv6t-6100: DST tests, running-in, System Tune Up and hard drive failed - which means ID failure?

The above tests failed, and passed the SMART tests, memory and battery.  I had problems with a program so I rean these diagnoses.  Failure ID is 9LGDWX-5M984B-MFH15G-60SN03.  What is the code of failure?  If I need a new hard drive, how can I find out what you get it?

Hello

The error code 24 characters is a disk failure short self-test and would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.

The player at the link below is an example of one that would be perfect for your laptop.

750 GB hard drive for laptop.

The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 70 of your & Maintenance Guide.

Once this is done, simply use your recovery media to reinstall the operating system on the new drive - this is described in the document of HP here.

Kind regards

  • HP Pavilion 17-e119wm: reinstall Windows 10 operating system after replacing the hard drive

Hello, I bought a laptop HP Pavilion year last for work or school. He perfectly managed until yesterday when it was freezing to close unexpectedly. Waited about half an hour to see if it would work himself, I had several programs running at the same time. With no results, I did a hard shut down and left for about two hours. Trying to turn it back on, I was stuck on the HP Home screen for almost an hour. I turned off the and tried again. Sometimes I would be stuck on the startup screen, and sometimes he would show that he was about to auto repair, then the screen turns off. In addition, the recovery menu of the system through the F11 key did not work, so I did a Quick Test of system and received a short Drive DST hard failure.

I plan to buy a replacement HGST 5 K 1000 1 TB hard Drive from the manufacturer; However, my warranty expired last month, and I'm not sure how to reinstall the OS (installed with Windows 8.1 then upgraded to Windows 10 factory), once the new hard drive in place.

I've never done a HP system recovery Image, and I'm low on funds, so I'm not able to contact HP directly. Help, please. I am a student and I work from home, so I am at a loss without my system.

If you want to reinstall Windows 10, then this is the part the more easy and free.  I understand, completed after the upgrade to Windows 10, then you can clean install Windows 10 site M$.

On a work computer, go to the WINDOWS 10 DOWNLOAD, scroll down to the purple 'Download tool now 64 Bit' click that to let do its thing.  On the next screen, choose 'Create the installation media for another PC', then what kind of media you want to use DVD or USB flash.  Once created, install Windows 10 on the PC in question - when everything that fact it is activated.

  • Upgrade HP Pavilion DV6T-6100 processor

I currently have a HP Pavilion DV6T-6100 with the 2GB Radeon switchable graphics card and an i7-2630QM processor. I watched the maintenance manual and the best processor I can update is the i7-2820QM. When I bought this machine, there was only the 2nd gen available i7s.

Would it not possible to upgrade for a 3rd gen i7 processor? Specifically, the i7-3820QM? They have the same power of dissipation, and it would be much faster than if I switch to just the i7-2820QM.

No, I'm not 100% certain, but certain to 99%.

More 3rd generation processors require Intel 7 as the 3820 series chipset.

Your a Intel 6 series chipset.

There is no revision of BIOS listed on the support page and the driver of your laptop that adds support for any Intel 3rd generation of processor.

You can also read the info on the link below which lists the supported processors with the chipset of your notebook can operate.

Now, this list seems very important to me, and the BIOS of your laptop would have to have all the firmware for the processors listed, which I doubt, he does.

In any case, you won't see the i7-3820QM among the long list of processors, they say, are supported in the HM65 chipset.

HP decides which processors will work in what specifications and built the BIOS accordingly.

    http://www.CPU-upgrade.com/MB-Intel _ (chipsets) HM65_Express.html

To be sure, I'd install only one of the supported processors listed in the service manual for your model.

The only time where I go against that advice is if a BIOS update adds support for the latest processors are not not in the service manual, and it lists the new processors that will be supported by the update.

Hello, I have a hp Pavilion dv6t 6100 CTO Quad edition, model number LM720AV with the graphics card Radeon HD 6700 M. I can't install the Intel HD Graphics driver.

Recently, the tables of partition on my hard drive I've screwed up, and I was forced to erase the entire disk, recovery sector included, to reinstall windows 7 Home premium. I installed most of the drivers, but the driver "Intel high definition (HD) Graphics Driver" will not be installed because the installer nixes installation and indicates something of this order: "your computer does not meet the hardware requirements. I am sure that I download the right driver from the right pagel also, I download the driver even when I use the automatic detection feature drivers. I used the HP support assistant program, but the only driver it says that I need is the biometric scanner. Also, I installed the radeon drivers, but my card is declared invalid in the Device Manager. How could do to solve this?

    Thanks for your help.

First of all, it's a great range of info that you put there for me; I wish that every person in forums answered that although you did right.

In any case, I realized the solition, although I'm not sure the cause mechanics. I found an intel driver hd in file system of controllers of ata ida from the Device Manager and uninstalled, then did the same with drivers Radeon and finally reinstalled Catalyst. I guess it was something to do with installing stand-alone installation intel makes wonder why they are avalible for download in the pilot centre involving the user must install in the first place.

Now, my excellent work of pilots as evidence by I can get a much better resolution, I can change the brightness and the whole system runs out cold by about 75% before installing the drivers.

  • Pavilion dv6t-6100: battery 9-cell HP Pavilion dv6t-6100 dies prematurely

I have a HP Pavilion dv6t-6100, I'm back (2011). When I set it up, I chose to get two batteries with it: the 6-cell battery that comes standard and the battery 9 cells optional. But I have a problem with the 9-cell: with it connected, the system always stops at 33% staying fresh with no warning, as warnings battery start to appear around 10-15% remaining fresh. I suspect that three of the 9 cells are quite dead. I checked on the website of accessories, but I couldn't find the same battery available and under 'Laptops from 2011 to 2013', the dv6t-6100 is not even mentioned. (The page has the Pavilion dv6t-7000 listed, but it's a different model entirely.) So I don't know where to find a new battery, which one to get, where to find the one that the label on my battery was told to replace it with, or anything of that kind. Can someone help me?

My laptop runs Windows 10 Pro Insider overview since November 2014 after obtaining its hard drive replaced. The problem with the 9-cell occurred since before that date.

  • HP Pavilion dv6t-6100 CTO Quad problem with graphics switchable

    -HP Pavilion dv6t-6100 CTO Quad

    -Win7 64-bit

-Can not pass an Intel HD 3000 and Radeon 6770

I recently had a problem with my computer that I solved it by using a recovery disk to do a clean install of windows.  When I was running, I noticed that when I right click on the desktop I no longer get the switchable graphics configuration option.

I started by redownloading from the site Web of AMD catalyst control center.  For some reason any installing this forced my resolution of 800 x 600 instead of 1366 x 768.  I drove back on two graphics cards drivers and that fixed my resolution.  I went to the HP website and updated all drivers related to graphics cards.  However, the CCC gave an error message saying that it detects all the drivers AMD.  At this point, I uninstalled CCC and other AMD software on the system, and I'm a little stuck.

I can't download CCC again because it seems to mess up the resolution, but it seems to me to need to change graphics cards.

    Hello TacitRonin,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I understand that you are not able to re - install the CCC that there is a problem with the resolution with its installation, and I'd be happy to help you!

To re - install correctly CCC, I recommend to delete the entire AMD driver on your computer and re - install. To do this, remove the software from programs and features.

Once the driver is then deleted, please remove the driver from Device Manager by following this document on Uninstall or reinstall a device. This should help to re - install your CCC program to your laptop.

In addition, I also suggest to use the re HP Recovery Manager - install the supplied with your laptop original drivers. This can done by following this document on the use of the Recovery Manager to restore the software and drivers (Windows 7).

Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your response!

  • HP Pavilion dv6t-6100 CTO Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC bluetooth?

I have a HP Pavilion dv6t-6100 CTO Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC with Win7 Home Edition. The manual indicates that it has bluetooth capabilities. Device Manager does not list a bluetooth adapter. Belarc Advisor said that the laptop has an Intel Centrino Wireless Bluetooth 3.0 adapter and high-speed virtual. I downloaded and installed sp55138.exe Intel PROSet driver bluetooth, but still no bluetooth.

This laptop have bluetooth capability, and what is the appropriate driver/software to activate it?

    Thank you.

To check if your laptop is Bluetooth capable, go to the device and then manager network adapters. Note the model of network adapter, and then check the manufacturer's website. My original card is an Intel N1000, that isn't compatible Bluetooth. I intend to change it on shortly with another model that has Bluetooth.

  • Pavilion dv6t-6100 Quad Edition (2nd generation) CPU upgrade

I have pavilion dv6t-6100 Quad Edition laptop with one of the 2nd gen i7 processors. What type of upgrades to the graphics card and CPU can I do?

    Hello:

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.  Intel processors supported are listed in Chapter 1, page 2.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c02842252.PDF

Graph cannot be upgraded, except if the card mother set is replaced.  Support Intel motherboards with various graphics solutions are in Chapter 3, beginning on page 27.  You must also pay special attention to the fact that the jury is for a processor dual core or quad.

I would also add that the financial costs and monitoring of personal work to exchange the motherboard and the processor upgrade, would exceed the cost of buying another laptop with the processor and graphics card solution you're looking for, following the sale or your trade.

  • HP Pavilion G6 HARD drive failed

    Hello

First of all thank you for help out me.

I searched the forums for how to do this, but for my situation, I can't find an answer. I'm ok with the technology, but by no means a tech guru... Here's what I've done so far:

    History:

My sister gave me her cell phone on the weekend and said that he cannot start Windows 8. So I tried a lot of things so he can start and have failed. I tested the hard drive and it says that there are errors on this subject. I tried to use a Ubuntu Livecd to capture data off and have problems, but I'll be able to get most of it.

    Problem:

I need to replace the hard drive and she never made the recovery discs. What is my best course of action at this point?

    1. Can I reproduce the hard drive failed on a new and hope the recovery partition intact? Restore from that?
    2. Can I install from disc OEM of Windows 8? I don't think I can...
    3. Can I get the key of Windows 8 from the BIOS somehow or I'll have to grab something like belarc to and hope that I can enter the key of the HDD failure?

Any other suggestions on how to do it? I rather just use an OEM drive with his key and install from scratch, but I need the key and I don't know if it will work?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

    There are two options available.

    1. you can order a set of replacement of the recovery media using the link below - it will reinstall the operating system, all the drivers, and almost all of the original software (the exception being often tests of MS Office).  They will also recreate all of the original scores, including the recovery Partition.

    Order HP recovery disks.

    2. If the laptop is originally shipped with Windows 8, the activation key is stored in the Bios Chip and is read automatically during installation, so you could create your own OEM of Windows 8 install disc.

For more information on how to proceed, see the post by Hüffer 3rd on the following link - Note: there is a cap of this Image file download you may need to try over a period of a few hours before the download starts correctly.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-hardware/need-product-key/m-p/2592099/highlight/false#M96668

With regard to creation of installation media for this file, here are some options.

If you want to create an installation disc, use an application like ImgBurn ( Note: you can deselect additional software during installation of ImgBurn offerings)- hereis a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc.

If you need a utility to create a flashdrive bootable for this Image, try the free app below.

  • Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption. STOP: 0x0000007B__Blue screen

I have a Vista 64 bit OS.  I tried to do a system restore to the last checkpoint to interrupt a Service Pack.  Restore failed (don't remember exact error), now when I try to boot Vista, I get a message saying to run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption.  STOP: 0X0000007B
    My questions are:
    (1) do I need Vista recovery CD in order to enter the menu advanced at this stage startup options?
    (2) if I decide to upgrade to Windows 7 now, made the stop: 0x0000007B have a problem with that?  or could I fall in Windows 7?
Vista 64 gave me many problems and I think its time to make him... Thanks in advance... Mark

    Hi Markgod5,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Answers.

It seems that the hard drive is damaged if we get this error message to running chkdsk.

You can start the computer in safe mode with command prompt and see if you can start.  Then run the chkdsk command.

To do this follow these steps:

    (a) restart your computer if it is running.

    (b) press F8 after your computer powers initially on.

    (c) once you see the menu Advanced Boot Options, you can stop tapping.

    (d) use the up/down arrow keys to select Safe mode with command prompt.

    (e) in the command prompt window, type the following command and press enter Chkdsk /R and Chkdsk /F

Using recovery DVDs, you cannot switch mode winRE (Windows Recovery Environment) to run chkdsk. You need DVD full version (Win 7/Vista) or Vista repair disk.

You probably won't be able to install win 7 because the problem is with the hard drive and chkdsk should be run for the error.

Hope the helps of information. Please post back and we do know.

  • reinstalling the system on a new hard drive

Looks like a common problem that the original HDD Samsung die a premature death. I started to receive warnings of 301 SMART several months ago, but my HP dv6 kept operating normally until this week. Now it does not start, then it's time for a new HARD disk. I thought I was fully prepared, as I had spared him all my work on an external drive, had a new beautiful drive HARD fast to install and had my hand recovery disks. After you run the recovery discs, I'm stuck. New HARD drive does not start, and I can't do what whether the HP Recovery console offers me on its menu. Windows recovery is also stuck as there is no previous image recorded on this new album.

Looking at the new HARD drive, I see that the HP recovery disks were formatted only 60 GB, sort of a mini recovery partition and nothing else. When I try to restore the image, him refuses to HP recovery with the message Console, this drive is smaller than the original.

Can someone tell me how to work around this problem with recovery disks, or how I might just do a clean install of Windows 7 without having to buy a new installation disk purely and simply? HP does not provide a Windows disk with this computer.

New HARD drive, I would like to install: Seagate Momentus XT 500 GB

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hello

Recovery discs often have problems reinstalling the operating system if the new HARD drive is lower than installed when they were initially created.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the activation code on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

Assuming that it's just a problem with the recovery process, it is a job before right around if you have (or can borrow) a Windows 7 retail installation disc is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - IE if your laptop comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, it comes to version exact commercial that you would need.

If you don't have access to a retail disk, you can create an installation disk yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

Additional drivers, you may need to find from here.
