Pavilion DV7 1020eo: upgrade CPU... how high... ?

Hello...

I have a HP Pavilion DV7 1020eo with a

AMD Turion 64 X 2 RM - 70 installed processor (2.0 ghz dual core socket s1g2)

My question is what can I improve up to... ? Can I go to 2.8 ghz dual core or it can take in charge more than 3, 0GHz... ?

I have even seen the triple core cpu is in line with the socket S1, but I do not know if the PC will support it...

best regards Martin.

Here is the Service Manual:

Manual

See page 1. The fastest processor compatible is a ZM-86 at 2.4 ghz. If you try something the sooner you are on your own.

I want to improve my laptop CPU. The manual says that my laptop can handle a CPU Intel Core i7 840QM. By doing a little research on my own, I discovered that my current CPU is PGA988. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I need to find a processor that is taken of PGA988, or it does not.

It is true that some processors, like 840QM, came with several taken?

I will have problems with high temperatures?

Is there a difference? (In most games)

Is there something else (not to mention that the socket) that I should consider in terms of compatibility?

    Thanks in advance
    Tassos.

I7-840QM is the top processor of the page, that you can use. I think that all i7-840QMs use the PGA988 outlet, so you can use a processor purchased from one source other than HP.

The linked above processor is compatible and runs on your laptop.

The dv7 line has always been prone to problems of heat and the first series of Intel Core gen run particularly hot so when you install it remember to use good thermal paste, clean the fan blades and otherwise use best practices. If you need help let us know.

Don't expect a CPU upgrade only to make the game a lot better. It is especially dependent on the video chip you have. You have the HD 5650 video that is as good as it gets for this series model. He was very good at the time but is now a little long in the tooth. I expect a very small increase, but a negligible small in the time control of the upgrade of i3 to i7. For the rest, the upgrade will be quite noticeable. You could get even more general improvement, installation of an SSD. You also want to upgrade to the max 8 GB of RAM, of course.

Hello. Sorry for my English. I'm from the Ukraine.

I want to improve my HP Pavilion dv7-4150er and I need advice from experienced people.

    Now, I have:

    -8 GB of RAM (2 x 4 GB),

-1 TB of HDD (5400 RPM)

-stock video (Mobility Radeon hd 5650 graphics card) card overclocked to 700 MHz GPU and 950 MHz Vram.

-CPU (mobile Quad Core Intel Core i7-720QM, 1716 MHz) in stock

    -BIOS F.29

    2 problems:

    -Slow CPU

    -Slow HARD drive

I want to buy a few HARD drives SSD for Windows and secondary soft and left for the data.

Get an increase in the performance of the system?

On the 'Intel' site, I read that my

    Intel® HM55 Express Chipset Mobile

is compatible with the more powerful processors. LINK

    And I have a great opportunity to buy Intel® Core™ i7-940XM processor Extreme Edition (8 M Cache, 2.13 GHz)

    But the laptop manual says:

720QM and 940xm - identical processors. The difference in 'MAX TDP' 45w/55w, 'Cache' 6 mb / 8 mb and clock speed 1.6 GHz/2.13 GHz

The Intel® Core™ i7-940XM processor Extreme Edition (8 M Cache, 2.13) will work properly in my laptop?

    or not?

I have read many articles on this topic, but the answer is not...

And I can't find information on HP F.29 BIOS specification.

How can I increase a CPU nested way (with another compatible processor) perfomance if 940xm is not compatible?

    Help me please.

    Thank you for your time.

Hello nickiblackmore.  I understand that you are curious about the upgrade of your laptop.

Here is a link to Guide of Service and Maintenance of your laptop.  It covers the disassembly of the laptop and can also show you how to replace parts if you upgrade the.

If you switch to a Solid State Drive of a standard 5400 or 7200 RPM hard drive, you should see a significant performance increase.  This is because a normal hard drive spinning platters and it takes time to locate data on the trays as they are moving.  A Solid State Drive has no moving parts and therefor can locate data much more quickly.

A CPU upgrade is a much more difficult question.  HP does not recommend that you perform this type of upgrade.  Laptops are generally designed with specific thermal and electrical needs.  If you change the CPU, it will probably create more heat and use a higher power that will cause you problems.  However, if you stick to a processor that is listed in the service (for example in your picture) Guide, you should be fine.  For example, you can choose one of the microprocessors found in the image to upgrade your laptop.  Also, keep in mind that the integral part upgrade as a CPU can affect your warranty (check your warranty here).

If you think that answers your question be sure to mark the post as solved.  This makes it easier for others to find answers to their questions.

    Have a great day!

  • Pavilion dv7-3101sa: upgrade Hp-Paviliondv7-3101sa

Welcome and thank you for spending your time to read my post, I hope you can help me

So, I got my old Pavilion dv7 3101sa and I was wondering if you could tell me what are the ebst options to upgrade.

What is the best SSD hard drive that I could buy? Is there a difference between the SSD hard drivers?
I have 4 GB of ram and I want to move to 8 GB is there any higher frequency should I buy?
And could you tell me what is the best processor that can run my laptop?
And the final question is anyway to upgrade GPU?

Here are all the tabs screen shoots when I run CPU - Z on the laptop.

    Thank you for reading

This is the top of the page processor:

    AMD Turion™ X 2 Ultra Dual-Core M640 35 - W, 2.60 GHz with 2 MB of L2 cache

No triple or quadruple-heart is compatible. The upgrade would you take of 2.3 ghz with a cache L2 1 MB to 2.6 ghz with 2 MB L2 cache memory.

    Your service Manual

Given that these processors are more desirable, they got dirt cheap:

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/new-AMD-Turion-II-Ultra-M640-TMM640DBO23GQ-Mobile-CPU-/330723025336?hash=item4d00a0e1b8:m:m5a6tYBEaA24irFN - dHb5vg

For $32, I would upgrade. Keep in mind, none of this will help games performance at all. You have integrated graphics card Radeon 4350 UMA which is unimpressive to say the least. The SSD will give you faster boot time and better performance of the app and the 8 GB of RAM would you allow to run other things at the same time. Spend you all this money and do all this work and then be always wanting something better, I predict.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 3150eq Upgrade of RAM

    Hello

I intend to upgrade the memory of my machine, but I can't seem to find the manufacturer and the speed of the current. I would like to buy exactly the same.

My laptop is HP Pavilion DV7 Entertainment PC 3150eq, currently, it has 4 GB and supports up to 8. Looked the specifications, but the only information it has 4 GB of DD3 RAM and the motherboard supports up to 8 GB of RAM. It does not say how many slots is 2, 4, etc.

Anyone know who is the manufacturer and the speed of the RAM memory installed on the laptop model? And if not to much to ask, how many slots memory is on the motherboard?

    Thank you

    I. Hinov

    Hello

Normally, each laptop has 2 slots for RAM. You can use the following information:

    Memory type: DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 PC3-8500, DDR3 (non - ECC)
    Maximum memory: 8 GB - Slots: 2
Each slot of memory can hold DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 PC3-8500 with a maximum of 4 GB per slot.

I was wondering if possible to upgrade my memory and processor... hp pavilion dv7 1260us?

    Here are the specs:

    Plug

You have an AMD Turion RM-74 processor and 4 GB of RAM. The RAM is DDR2 and it may take 8 GB of DDR2, but that the memory of any reputable vendor is crazy expensive, like $150 ++ for 2 x 4 gig modules.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

The top of the page compatible processor is an AMD Turion™ Ultra Dual-Core 35W ZM-86 2.40 GHz with 2 MB of L2 cache

If you want to go from 2.2 ghz to 1 meg to 2.4 ghz with 2 MB of L2 cache L2 cache, may be a treatment of 20% energy improvement. Not enough, IMO, to justify the difficulty because it is still not in the ballpark of machines of today.

You can buy the processor from a dealer renowned for $15 with free shipping. That should tell you what the demand is for her. Basically obsolete.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the problem, that you are facing is that Microsoft provides only pilots with the most basic features and what you really need for these features in laptops is the specialized drivers written for the specific material found in laptops - and unfortunately, there is no HP Win10 laptop driver.  HP only guarantees the compatibility of Win10 for machines manufactured after August 2013. HP is not no matter what timetable indicating when, or IF, they will produce drivers for older machines.

There is also no update the BIOS of your PC.

This means that your PC is probably NEVER going to be fully functional under Win10 because the pilots is needs for all features simply do not exist!  To restore all the features, you will need to do a reset to factory using HP recovery media to its original operating system pre-installed.

However, if you are determined to stay with Win10, pilot alternatives, you can continue below are...

You can try to use Windows updates to find the drivers from Microsoft deposits for your device: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03330139

You can also try following the instructions in this thread: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04763435/

If Windows Update doesn't give new drivers, you can pursue alternative which are described in the linked Microsoft Windows Insider community thread: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/wiki/insider_wintp-insider_devices/how-to-install-and-update-drivers-in-windows-10/a97bbbd1-9973-4d66-9a5b-291300006293

If you then run into trouble, install the drivers through Windows Update, you can try to use of Microsoft Windows Update Troubleshooter: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/open-the-windows-update-troubleshooter

    Good luck

  • Pavilion dv7-6b76eo: upgrade of RAM HP Pavilion dv7-6b76eo

I created a thread really well here and received great help from @Paul_Tikkanen so if he or someone else could help me, that would be great. Don't know why I can't post a reply in this thread again. They either closed the thread or I'm blind. In any case, I have the HP Pavilion dv7-6b76eo and plan an upgrade of RAM. Currently I have samsung 2 x 4 Go PC3-10600 / DDR3-1333.

    1. I think go to ddr4, but what keeps me is some threads I have read saying ddr4 won't even in good physical shape in a ddr3 slot (which is my current) as well as this piece of info from Wikipedia:

DDR4 SO-DIMM have 260 pines (instead of 204 pin DDR3), which are evenly spaced more close (0.5, rather than 0.6 mm) and are 2.0 mm wider (69.6 against 67.6 mm), but still the same 30 mm in height.

    Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR4_SDRAM

    • 204-pin SO-DIMM (DDR3) have a single notch closest in the center than at 200-pin SO-DIMM.
    • 260-pin SO-DIMM (DDR4), 69.6 mm (2,74 in.) wide and 30 mm (1.2 inches) in height, making it wider than the DDR3 SO-DIMM, with one notch after pin 2 mm 144 (0,079 in.).

    Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SO-DIMM

This means that a chip of RAM SODIMM ddr4 wouldn't even in good physical shape in the slot of my laptop?

    2. well, okay... If I have to make my peace with her and stay with DDR3 can I at LEAST faster DDR3 install i.e. PC3-17000 / DDR3-2133 because my current a PC3-10600 / DDR3-1333 is sorta slow sometimes?

Thanks in advance and would really appreciate an answer to the question 1 and 2 above!

    @nematsvehclav

    I couldn't say with certainty.

But I have yet to see a 16 GB memory for a laptop card. "Yet."

  • Pavilion dv7-4180: upgrade Windows 7 to 8

    Hi all

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-4180 using Windows 7.  I bought a Windows 8 of Microsoft and the Bill says:

"Earn 8 32-bit/64-bit English VUP DVD."

Online Microsoft provides this statement (quoted):

«Download and install Windows 8.1 to Windows 7»
    1. sign in to your Microsoft account
    2. in the menu of left, click downloads, subscriptions and product key
    3. find your purchase Windows 8.1, and then click Download
    4. If a dialog box appears, click Run to start the installation
5 follow the instructions in the installation wizard to complete the installation of Windows 8.1 "

Before thiis upgrade, is there advice that I should follow to avoid an honest mistake?  For example, losing a feature because of the upgrade?

You can do this and see if there are drivers that manufacturing has to W8 for that specific material. But you should check the site driver from HP for your P/N and see whether they have or W8 drivers list. Don't forget the older laptop after 2012, the chances of HP with W8 drivers will be slim to none since they do not include support for older hardware.

  • Pavilion dv7 - 1247cl: upgrade memory dv7 - 1247cl

It is my understanding that my Pavilion dv7 - 1247cl can support up to 8 GB memory max.  The laptop will support a 8gig stick, or should it be 2 4 gig sticks?  In addition, if it supports a key of 8 GB, the memory would work faster compared to the two port?

It's DDR2-800 SO-DIMM memory. I don't think they ever done 8 sticks of concert of this type of memory and if they did, it would be very expensive. The best price I could find on the last person who asked about the DDR2-800 memory for a kit of 2 x 4 GB (8 GB total) exceeded $150:

    http://www.Amazon.com/Komputerbay-PC2-6400-DDR2-800-SODIMM-channel/DP/B003D18Q7W/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&QID=1419373144&SR=8-6&keywords=DDR2-800+so-DIMM

2 identical modules will run in mode dual channel which is about 8 to 10% of the memory faster performance.  So 2 x 4 is faster that 1 x 8 would be, if there was even such a thing as a module of 8 GB, I think not there.

I don't think that the difference between 4 and 8 GB is going to be worth $ 155, personally.
