  • Pavilion DV7-4177: 4177 Pavilion DV7 Error Codes?

I have a Pavilion DV7 4177 that won't start, beep 15 times. The Caps Lock Led flashes 3 times in repetitive cycles. At HP I guess 3 led flashing documents indicate memory error, but what is sound? The screen stays black and there is no other message. I'd appreciate any help.

    Thank you.

The most common cause of a computer beep when starting is a module.3 of cowards or bad memory flashes is also indicative of the loose or bad memory module. While is is not terribly common for both to fail at the same time, it happens. If it were my laptop I would try a new memory module-even one only if the budget is a problem.

  • Pavilion tx1410us - error messages from the BIOS disk Test

My first post here so greetings and a happy new year to all.

I have a Pavilion tx1410us who seems to have a hard drive problem. I have Vista (Partition 2 - 60 2 GB as/dev/sda2) and Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit (1-1 St 20 GB as/dev/sda1 Partition) on the first partition and am getting ATA DMA error messages 2 and on the console when running Ubuntu.

When I had Vista on the first part of the disc I was getting a lot of errors on Vista.

I ran check disk for bad blocks, but several seem to be coming.

Last night I ran the test of the drive from the BIOS twice and twice got them the same "Test #2-07 failure" error message. The text is perhaps not quite correct, but the "#2-07" is certainly.

Does anyone have a reference to what the BIOS messages mean?

With the errors appear to come from the same part of the disk that would lead me to believe that it's the hard drive itself which is a failure, but I want to be sure that it is not the disk controller until I get a new hard drive.

It was close in the past, but we are now very careful to use only on a surface hard and keep the vents unblocked so I think I can have escaped heating problems that seem to dog these machines.

If someone is under Linux, you can install the monitor CPU cmdlets and the temperature of the system that can sit on your desktop and show you the temperatures constantly. Very useful. Interesting to see the speed at which the processor gets hot when editing or video processing.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Andy

    Hi Andy,.

The error message definetely is hard even though I'm not sure what #2 refers to other it can tell the difference between the short and complete test.  This, and the fact that more unusable blocks are appearing constantly in all point to the failure of the HARD drive.

    Best wishes

  • HP Pavilion p6204y Error Message - «Reboot and Select...» »

I get this message only when I use my Western Digital WD7502AAEX 750 GB hard drive.  I have run chkdsk, WD, CrystalDisk diagnosis, whatever you can imagine.  I went into the BIOS and made sure that this drive is the first boot device.  When I install Windows 7, I use the ESC key to select the DVD player as a punctual start only to start the installation process.  I don't have this problem with my Western Digital WD20EARS 2 TB hard drive.  Is there something with the 750 GB drive I have to do (riders, etc.) to solve the problem with this error message?  I noticed in the BIOS that the hard drive controller mode has been defined RAID even if I don't than one hard drive in the computer at the same time (either the WD7502AAEX or the WD20EARS, but never both at the same time).  Is the default setting for my computer out of the factory RAID?  Four days after I installed the WD7502AAEX, I installed a new sound card of the computer.  Maybe if the RAID is not the default setting, the installation of the sound card has caused the setting to change?  The original in the PC hard disk had a score of 3.0 Gb/s transfer, while the news is 6.0.  This may cause the problem?  Help!

    Hello:

The default setting for your PC would be the best RAID setting.

There are no jumpers to change on the disc or the motherboard.

I had the same problem with a HP dc7800 with the WD Caviar Black 500 6.0 GB/s drive and the Q35 chipset.

I could install W7 on it, but on reboot, the BIOS reports no disk.

I couldn't understand it.  I took the Seagate 1 TB 6.0 GBPS drive on my HP 8200 Elite and put it in the dc7800, and it worked perfectly fine since.

I put the WD Caviar Black 500 GB drive in my 8200 Elite and it worked perfectly as well.

I have to this day, no idea why this has happened.

You can change the IDE BIOS and see if it works, but that will slightly degrade the performance of your hard drive.

  • "BIOS not ACPI Compliant" installation of Windows XP - Pavilion a850y error message

Hello: My computer is a Pavilion a850y Pentium 4HT 3.8 MHz, just installed a new drive sata hard and tried to install Windows XP Home Edition. When starting the installation, just after the drivers loaded I received the following Message:

A problem has been detected and Windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time, you've seen this stop error screen restart your computer. If the screen appears again, follow these steps...

The Bios in this system is not fully ACPI-compatible. Contact your dealer or visit http:www,hardware-update.com for an updated BIOS. If you are unable to get a BIOS updated or the latest BIOS supplied by your vendor is not ACPI, you can turn off ACPI mode during the next mode installation. To do this, simply press the F7 key when you are prompted to install storage drivers. The system will not notify you that the user pressed F7 - he silently disable ACPI and allow you to continue the installation.

Well, by pressing F7 just stopped the install again to a blue screen with "Windows Setup" on the screen.

The upgrade of the only BIOS found on the HP site needs Windows running to install.

My BIOS IS: BIOS Revision 3.10 11/12/04 Core version 08.00.10

The only thing that was never updated on this computer's memory. The old hard drive disappeared. I tried another new hard drive with the same results. Installing Windows XP justs stops after loading the drivers.

Anyone know where to find an update for the BIOS I can load from cd or floppy disk without Windows running?

    Any help would be appreciated!

I saw this error before installing XP after a memory upgrade on desktop computer Pavilion. At the time, I just deleted the extra memory and installed XP, then reinstalled the memory.

Strange thing is I later installed XP again without any problem, leaving the additional memory.

First, take out the HARD drive and put the screws to the right to maintain and replace the HARD drive and reboot again. It could be that the missing screws causing the HARD drive vibrates too and make the heads and causing the HARD drive having problems.
