Pavilion noteook 15-ab254sa: Wty: HP HW Maintenance off-site Support

Hello

I just bought a HP Pavilion laptop computer ab254sa form Currys PC world. I checked my status of the warranty on the HP site and it says Wty: off-site Maintenance HP HW - active Support. I can't find all infromation what type of warranty is that and what is the coverage... I would be very happy if someone can give me more details.

Thank you very much in advance, I really appreciate your help.

Best wishes

Asya

Asya1,

Guaranteed off-site means that send back you to HP for repair, or bring to an authorized to HP for repair service center.

If your laptop is under warranty, WILL NOT, you must pay for shipping if sent to a depot for repair.

There has been some cases where consumers are asked to pay for the shipping to the deposit. HP covers all port fees, so never pay to have your laptop repaired.

One thing, you may want to consider is 'a cover against accidental damage' for your laptop, provided by HP. This covers things like spills of liquid on the keyboard or a fall... Your HP standard warranty does not cover this type of damage, that electronic defects.

Kind regards

Louis

Enjoy your, laptop

  • Maintenance of Oracle Support (MOS)

    Hi all

I heard that if you pay maintenance to Oracle support permanently, you are free to upgrade to the latest version.

For example if you have purchased the license for 9i, you are free to use 10g, 11g, 12 c, 13d, etc, etc.

Is this true for EBS? As we pay for EBS 11i support permanently, then we are free to upgrade to R12.2.4?

    Thank you very much

    JC

    Hello JC,.

Yes, update to any version of DB / EBS is free as long as you have a valid license for the basic version.

    Kind regards

  • HP Pavilion Notebook PC G6 - continually turns on and off after that new ram is inserted repeatedly

I just installed another 4 GB of ram, making it 8 GB. It works fine the first time, he started with the new ram, but when it goes off with the new ram installed for at least 30 minutes, simply refuses the RAM and just turns on and turns off continuously. I have to get out the new ram and turn on the computer to make it work again. Once he had a start of full without the new ram I can insert the new ram once again, but this problem is.

    Product number: A3D96PA #ABG

    Processor name: Intel Core i5 - 2430 M 2.40 GHz

    BIOS F.66 - 24/01/2013

My PC is running windows 8.1 Pro

The details of the new 4 GB of ram are: Crucial 4 GB DDR - 1600 SODIMM

    Hi Adam_M,

    Welcome to HP forum!

Please ask, I will do my best to help you.

I understand that you have installed additional up to 8 GB of ram and you have a problem starting.  Here is a link to HP Pavilion G6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service of Guide SUMMARY.  If you notice in Page 3, under memory your system only supports up to 6 GB of ram. Please let me know if you want more help.

  • EliteBook 8440p; DM1-3020us: 2x4gb 1600 MHz DDR3L works in Pavilion DM1 but not Elitebook 8440p? But both are supported than 1066 MHz RAM

I have two Elitebook 8440p PCs that both run an Intel i5 520 m (although one of them has a discreet Nvidia NVS 3100 m, while the other does not and use the integrated graphics card Intel).

I also have a Pavilion DM1-3020us with an AMD E-350 APU; It's the only other PC I own which takes SO-DIMM DDR3 modules.

I just bought this Crucial DDR3L 1600 MHz 2x4gb hoping to use it with the 8440p without the graphics from Nvidia:

    http://www.BestBuy.com/site/crucial-2-Pack-4GB-1-6GHz-PC3-12800-DDR3L-so-DIMM-Unbuffered-non-ECC-lap...

However, it causes crashes and BSOD as soon as he tried to start under Win7 64 bit on both 8440 p PCs.  Also when trying to boot Linux Mint 18 I empty a kernel panic, and run Memtest86 + just leads to restarting the PC within seconds.  Yet, I can navigate through the BIOS throughout the day and it will continue to work very well...

But here's where it gets really weird - the RAM works perfectly fine in my laptop DM1 Memtest86 + and Win7 64 bit (I use it as I type this).  What's curious?  Because both the AMD E-350 and the Intel i5 520 m only support up to 1066 MHz RAM!

The only thing I can think is that there is something wacky where RAM is unable to operate at 1066 MHz at 1.5V or is not able to run at 1.5V to all E-350 1.35v support (and 1.5V RAM so that the i5 520 m only supports 1.5V) which itself would be really strange that Micron (which actually manufactured the RAM) States on their website that their 1.35v and 1.5V RAM have actually the same die (a bit like mobile i7s quad vs quad I5S Office) and that both can operate at 1, 5V, implying therefore that the 1.35v product is simply a higher binning:

    https://www.micron.com/~/Media/documents/products/technical-note/DRAM/tn4114_ddr3_1_35v_1_5v_compat...

Crucial live chat support, however, closed several hours for the day, so I thought I would at least make this post in the meantime.

    Hello:

Please see this thread, and the discussion that I posted in this thread... and you'll have your answer.

6550 b has the same chipset as the 8440p.  I posted the link to the site from NewEgg for the memory, you need to buy if you live in the USA/Canada in the discussion that I've referenced to the other person who had the 8440p.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-hardware-and-upgrade-questions/RAM-memory-modules-that-actually-work-for-HP-EliteBook-8440p/m-p/5570634#M335108

There are several discussions on this issue if you want to find even more.  Everything is solved by specific G.Skill memory I posted.

The extent of why it works in the dm1 and not the 8440p, the chipsets are different.  The Intel chipset in the 8440p doesn't support voltage DDR3L.  Comparison of AMD and Intel chipsets are like comparing apples and oranges.

I also believe that the chipset amd in the dm1 is more recent than the chipset in the 8440p and promotes low-voltage memory.

I have just return from memory and use the gift card on something else.

I doubt that Best Buy has this specific memory.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 - 6143cl: cannot download the drivers on the hp support site

I have recently reinstalled windows 7 to fix a problem with some corrupted windows files. Now, I need to reinstall my drivers but to do what I need to download and I can just download them from the site of HP support with product dection or the manutal method I get a logo of loading and it just sits there. I think it's just for my computer because I tried computers randomly and I could see drivers to download (I didn't actually download them I just wanted to see if the problem was on my end or hps.) I tried google chrome, Internet explorer 8 (always install updates windows) and firefox.

  • HP Pavilion Notebook N9R33EA # a: problems with the BIOS update (HP Support Assistant)

I was offered an update of software SP77359, which seems to me to be an update of the BIOS provided by HP Support Assistant. Version F.82Ap1. Two days ago, I updated the BIOS via the support and, on the report wizard got an other update via the support Wizard. I applied this patch to find that it was still an other BIOS update and now, which has been applied this third update has appeared. Please let know us how I do.

The model number of my machine is actually N9R33EA #ABU (as reported by the Assistant to support) but ths was too long to type in the name of the product.

Your laptop is a HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab208na (ENERGY STAR) for later use.

I wouldn't update. Simply click the X to remove the download and install the list in the help Wizard.

The current version on your laptop support portal is F.8.1

  • Pavilion dv7 cannot recognize the CD/DVD drive, no help support "assistant".

Subject says it all.  Since I got this machine, it had problems when the CD/DVD drive becomes invisible and are not accessible by any means.  A reboot has solved in the past, but now, it doesn't seem to work more.  I would like to reinstall the drivers, but guess what, I don't know what kind of player, it is (funny how that works), and Support 'Assistant' is apparently ihcapable to understand the model of this Pavilion dv7 ("product name: loading...") ("now until the heat death of the universe), which does not help either.  Anyone has a better idea than just blindly install the drivers?

    Hello

Drivers for CD/DVD drives comes with Windows (IE with the operating system - it is not the drivers you need to download).  The driver is located in C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\cdrom.sys.

First, try the automated Microsoft fixit at the link below.

    Windows 7

    Vista

Check if the drive works now.

If the drive does not, in the Start Menu, open Control Panel and click Device Manager.  Click to open the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.  Right-click on the first channel and select uninstall.  Do not delete if requested drivers.  When uninstalled repeat the process for each channel.  Also, if an ATA controller is listed, right click and uninstall it, once again is not removing the drivers if requested. Then, open the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives.  Make a right click the drive (if it shows!) and choose uninstall.  Do not delete if requested drivers.

Restart the computer and let Windows reinstall devices.  Check the disc again.

If it still does not work, re-run the fixit automated Microsoft at the link below.

    Windows 7

    Vista

Then, in the Start Menu, open Control Panel and click Device Manager.  Click to open the CD/DVD-ROM drives.  Right-click on the drive and choose uninstall.  Do not delete if requested drivers.  When the device has been uninstalled click the icon 'Search for hardware changes' (usually just below help in the toolbar).  Let windows reinstall the disc and see if it works now.

  • Pavilion 23-b244 AiO: the system recovery media does not support this computer

    Hey all,.

I had a power outage (1 TB) HD material on me about a week ago and replaced by a (500 GB) SSD, not purchased from HP.  I then ordered the recovery disc from HP for this particular serial number.  Whenever I boot on the recovery discs, I get "this computer does not support the system recovery media. You are not able to restore the system with the media. "The Minsize argument in the instructions to build on the DVD file provides a minimum of 140 GB, so I don't think I have a new smaller drive system is the question.

Last month I have updated the firmware to v80.08, and in the bios "product name", 'SKU number', 'serial number of the chassis' fields are all empty.  In "System ID", everythign is empty except UUID and family name.

I think that's why I'm not able to boot to recovery discs?

Any help would be appreciated, I have use this computer for quickbooks and have bee unable to do accounting for a week and a half.

Figured it out! On my Pavilion, you press Ctrl + A in the bios then click on 'System IDs'. Then I was able to type in the ID to build my recovery and support the byte to feature on the sticker under my machine. F10 to save then the recovery media recognized the computer properly and booted up!

But now this month ended and the gifts are not yet distributed yet. I already tried to contact the support of redemption through several times regarding the delivery of the product, but I always get the same answer generated system you will get your product within 30 days...   And now it seems to be fraud makes me by HP to just sell their products (since I have more patience). On the other hand delivery of purchase support services is not so transparent. There is no way of contacting a face-to-face customer service.   I do not understand that if hp cant fullfill the offers they do (which are paid one - I paid Rs.3500) so why promote an offer then? Is not the way to trick people?   Hope someone from hp will focus on this and will not take another 1 month to answer... Contact mail ID-

  • Pavilion Sleekbook 15: Auto brightness do not turn off?

I recently reset my computer due to some problems, and before that, I was somehow able to turn off the auto brightness.

Unfortunately, I can't now. I spent for power options and it turned off on each plane, but it still does not turn. I need my screen to full brightness all the time because otherwise I feel my eyes squint and make very bad uncomfortable.

    Any suggestions?

I don't know if this is weird or expected., but I found something that can help! Take a look at the comments in the following YouTube video: How to Turn Off Auto brightness in Windows 10.

Annette White says: 'I found the solution for my laptop. You probably have AMD graphics card. You must open the graphics drivers (you'll find them by right-clicking on the desktop and there is a button named AMD Radeon settings, you click on it), then you go to: display > advanced settings > power > * here you should find a thing called "PowerPlayTM", you click on it > you will find a checkbox called 'VariBrightTM' and you will have to uncheck. > Apply. This is! »

Also, Romano said: "If you display varies in intensity with different applications and your AMD Raedon check running to see if Vari Bright is checked in the Catalyst Control Center under power management" ".

It seems that the solution works for some, but not all. Read the comments and let me know if you find something that works for you.

  • HP Pavilion Notebook 15-p045tx: wireless capability is turned off, the Wi - Fi button on / off Greyed Out

    Hello

I was faced with this problem for a lot of time.

The Network Diagnostics, it gives this error:

    WiFi is disabled

I don't have any hardware button that can wifi device off / turn on my keyboard, see the example image below:

I never turned off the device physics wifi directly or from the BIOS.

Tried the "f12" also, airplane Mode which also did not help.

in any case, I tried on things until now, nothing helps:

    (1) reset BIOS HP using HP Usb Disk

    2) update drivers wireless Broadcom using HP Support Assistant

    (3) re - install the Broadcom drivers

    (4) install the Realtek drivers

    (5) Restroing 8.1 full disk recovery Windows.

    (6) installed Linux (Ubuntu/Fedora), but that also free WiFi does not appear.

Please guide me what can be the possible cause of this problem.

The issue seems to be with my wifi chip.

Eventualy I had to take the laptop to the Service Center. The guy tried everything I did once again.

Finally, the issue is resolved, he plugged into the smart wifi, cleaned both ends, a little with the help of an eraser and reinserted and voila, it has detected. He said it could be the issue of carbon deposited on the ends of the chip connection.

Since then, I've encountered same question several times, and everything I do is open my laptop, plug out a smart WiFi card mother, clean up a bit and plug it again.

And he started working like a charm.

Maybe it is loose or I don't know what the exact problem is.

But he still has a problem with the antenna, I get very low my wifi signal, even if I'm in the right range of wifi router.

Oddly, when I unplug the power cord, fires off - but only then.

I tried to boot from the DVD drive without result.

Any help would be very appreciated to get my laptop running and upward.

  • Pavilion m-6 (envy 14): the back takes off

I've had this laptop for two and 1/2 years now. I really liked its software and the way it was designed, but last year (when I got 18 months) money back panel (IE. The back of the monitor) began to take off. I recorded it down to try and stop spreading but it has continued to spread to the place where it all the background of the Panel is to detach! The whole bottom is led taped down and because what happens offshore, it is starts shooting at plastic hinges and making them pop off some. I never dropped my lap top, whenever I take it places it's still in a case and I've always been very careful with him. I do not understand why this is happening when I have always been so careful with her. The rear panel has been simply pasted on cheaply and came off just when it shouldn't have.
