• Pavilion P7 - 1003w Win 7 sp1 - RAM problems...

  I have a Pavilion P7-1003w running Windows 7 sp1.  I have 2 strips of 4 GB of RAM installed, which should show that 8 GB under Windows Properties.  Instead it shows 16 GB (7.75 exploitable).  I tried to remove 1 stick and leaving 1 installed, the results show 12 (3.75 usable) GB.  I tried each stick individually in each of the 2 available DIMM slots and each time I get the same results.

  Why is this, and can it be fixed?  Or maybe it's bad advice?  Any suggestions are appreciated.

  Open RUN and type: MSCONFIG---> look under the startup--> advanced options tab and make sure that both the box processor memory box and maximum is not checked.

  Try to clear the CMOSin case that the BIOS is damaged.

  Open the window RUN (admin) and enter: sfc/scannow

  RAM reporting problems in the past have been associated BIOS.  Try to install the release of updates to the BIOS.

  I own a laptop Pavilion 15 p 211tx. According to the specs, I have two slots for RAM, 1 being concerned about a 4 GB chip and the other being empty.   Hello, this is my first post here so tell me if I missed any information.

  Anyway, I have a Pavilion e017dx laptop for almost 1 year and its extremely hot performance, (85 degrees Celsius by writing this, according to Speccy) so I suspect the fan is getting plug.

  I looked at a few tutorials on youtube, but they all require completely disassemble the laptop to get to the fan.

  I don't want to take any chances with my laptop, so I was wondering if there is another way to clean the fan?

  I use canned compressed air for cleaning electronics. You can buy in most stores selling electronics or accessories for electronics. Wal Mart, K-Mart, Best Buy, Staples, etc.

  It comes with a small straw attached to can with masking tape that you can use to insert in the holes of ventilation, ports & other openings in the case to do a deep cleaning. I use this on my two cell phones every few months. Even use it on desktop here.

  See page 3. Some models have 2 slots, and some models of Intel have a slot. Based on other models, I'll assume the Celeron and Pentium models 1 a slot and the Intel Core 2 models. Your model is a processor i3 and probably 2 slots. The question is largely academic, because the only way to get to the memory slots is by removing the motherboard which will jeopardize the warranty and is not recommended for end users.
