Pavilion Sleekbook 15-b142dx: failure on Pavilion Sleekbook keyboard

This laptop starts to the Windows 8 logon screen, but I can not enter a password because NONE of the keys work.   Have also tried using an external USB keyboard, but it is not known, perhaps because the BIOS of the feature is not enabled?  I can't start the BIOS so that it is because the keys ESC and function do not work as well.  The mouse works fine.

I thought to order a new keyboard, but what happens if the problem is with the keyboard on the motherboard controller?  I have no way to test it.  Any ideas?

Hello:

In this case, you could replace the keyboard. If you are under warranty, contact HP.

    Hello

Recently, the keyboard on my laptop has stopped working. I tried to reset the laptop and do a hard reset, but nothing seems to work. I have to use the keyboard to type on the touch screen.

When I turn on the laptop, I can type the password without any problem but after about 5 minutes, the keyboard seems to turn off automatically for some reason any. Only by restarting the computer seems to solve this problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    @Ammaar,

Hello and thanks for the display on the HP support forum.  What you can do at this point that there are several updates released by microsoft and hardware vendors is running the Windows Update Troubleshooter.

If this fails to solve the problem.  The only option will be to restore the operating system to the previous, until HP gets the drivers so that they can release them on the support page for your laptop for Windows 10.

Thanks again for posting and have a great day.

I have a laptop HP Pavilion DV6000 Windows Vista.  The Windows form with password starts successfully.  But I can't enter my password - or other data from the keyboard, with the exceptions below:

    1. the lock shift key works.

    2. the SPACEBAR, backspace and delete all the keys work.

I tried to do a hard reset, nothing helps.

    Any suggestions?

    Hello

    (1) once the unit is on keep tap the F8 key, select the last good known configuration & check if Unit works very well.

    (2) you can also try F10 key try to do a Bios default.

    (3) once the unit is power on keep touching the use key F8, and then select Safe mode with command prompt type keys and check if the keys does not work, you may need to replace the keyboard because it is a hardware failure.

  • g6 Pavilion laptop keyboard does not

All of the keyboard on my computer hp laptop pavilion g6 has completely stopped working.  As it is locked?   I installed Office 2013 teacher and then it stopped working.  Not that that was the reason, but it's the only thing I did differently.

    Hello

    Try the following.

Shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

Tap away at the button esc you start the laptop to see if it will launch the Start Menu and select f10 to open the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the default values (sometimes it's f9, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys (assuming that they work in this menu) to select 'Yes' and press ENTER.  Press f10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.

Note:  If you find that the keys do not work in the Bios menu, then it is likely to be a hardware problem.

  • G7 Pavilion: Pavilion g7 keyboard only works for the password

I was recently given a grandma g7 Pavilion.  She barely used.  The keyboard won't let me enter her password but completely stops working after the password is entered.  He may have had an external keyboard used previously, but is not fixed now.  I read on the forum and tried all the fixes I've seen.  I tried: disconnect the battery taking then now power button for 30 seconds, put the battery back and plug in the unit, turn on press the ESC key to make Bios restore default.  Left battery, instslled all the updates, uninstalled keyboard under devices and rebooted.  Tried the trick of screen ctrl and print.  He strives to enter the password, so it has the ability to work.  Very frustrating.  The keyboard icon returns to the settings but I can't click on it.  Help, please!

    Hello

As the keyboard works until you connect, check the following.

Open windows control panel and on the top right, next to the display by: select "large icons".  In the new page layout, select the "ease of access Center.

Select the option "make the keyboard easier to use".

If there is a check mark next to 'Turn on filter keys', click the box to Remove , and then click apply and then click Ok to save this change.

  • F100-NH Pavilion: Pavilion HP KEYBOARD PROBLEM

    Hello world!

I have a laptop HP Pavilion F100-NH with Win 8.1.

2 weeks before my keyboard has a problem. I started windows and I couldn't type anything. I removed the keyboard from the Device Manager, and then I restarted > it would be OK.

But today, I have the same problem. I just removed the keyboard from the device, restarted Manager and nothing happens... And now I don't see the "keyboard" devices more. Strange.

The hardware itself has a problem, because I can use it during startup. Windows has a problem. How could I solve this problem?

I tried to reinstall the chipset driver (I thought that this may be a solution), but I couldn't find the chipset driver.

    Thank you for your answer!

    Best regards:

    Csaba

    HI @loscsaba,

    Thank you for your request!

I understand that once before you have had a problem with the keyboard does not not after scoring in Windows.  You went to the Device Manager, removed the keyboard and rebooted.  The keyboard once again fully functional. Two weeks later the return issue, but repeating the previous steps did not help. After removing the keyboard when you restart, it was no longer listed in Device Manager.  When in Device Manager, if you are looking for a material change the keyboard appear?

Thinking it might be a chipset driver you went looking for an update, but have been unable to locate one.

When I searched for your laptop, I get several results.  To get the right pair, please provide your model number. How can I find my model number or product number?

Here is a link to HP Notebook PC - portable keyboard troubleshooting (Windows 10: 8).  You would also go the HP Support Assistant to help solve this problem?  You can also try running the troubleshooter in Windows Help.

  • Pavilion 15AB271SA: keyboard does not not as expected

Laptop 5 days ago. Problem trying to type anything at speed.  See example - problis tryto typing anything at speed.

I find myself with a load of random letters as some keys just refusing to enter when hit. Only seems to work if I hit a button every 2 seconds. Not much good for an amateur writer.  I sometimes have to hit a key 3 times or 4 to get something from him.

Just as bad in Word format or online. Very disappointing. Guess I should just bring back.

Suppose I have CK shoujust. (the previous sentence to normal typing speed).

    Any advice?

    @NCISfan44

You can adjust the speed of pretty good keyboard in the same way that it worked in previous versions of Windows.

Control Panel > display icon > keyboard > keyboard properties > adjust as required

    Example of reference:

Typing speed is slow on windows 10, how to change the keyboard speed?

Other than that, make sure that you have installed / updated your relevant HP drivers for Windows 10.  Sometimes the site assistance page driver computer are newer than your 'new' specifications.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 keyboard problem

I bought a new HP Pavilion dv6-2120tx laptop. The specs are Wndows 7 Home Premium 32-bit, Core i5, 4 GB RAM, 1 GB Nvidia GeForce.

The problem that I face is that the keyboard lacks some features when I hit and this happens especially in Internet Explorer. I want to be able to type quickly.

The laptop is brand new, almost a month or two and I am facing the problem since I bought it.

Try using another browser (Google Chrome / Firefox) for a test to see if the keyboard problem still occurs. If it is not then the issue could be a problem with Internet Explorer.  What version you have installed? (IE6/IE7 or IE8)

The same thing happens when you type in a document when you use Microsoft Word or Open Office?

  • Pavilion dv7 keyboard problem

    Product name: Pavilion dv7

    Product number: QG703EA #B1A

Recently bought, that IMO has a problem which is probably a BIOS-solvable one. There is a setting in the BIOS, named "Mode of Action keys", which:

-If you select 'Off', action keys function as a normal function (F1-F12) keys without the need for "Fn" be in a hurry.

-When set to "Enabled", action keys work like the keys action and in one wishes to operate normally the function keys (F1 to F12), you have to press "Fn".

However, this setting does not apply to the "Ins" key Regardless of the parameter "Action keys Mode", "Ins" requires always 'Fn' be in a hurry, something that is not acceptable for everyday use.

IMO, it's most of the time an arrangement which will be set to 'Disabled' because when you work on a computer, most of the time we have to function keys to work as not as action keys and function keys. Keep in mind that it's a computer, not an mp3 player, so we want to quickly access the keys F1 to F12 and Ins, no controls brightness and PrintScreen.

If anyone from HP support sees this message, please pass this issue as a bug report to the appropriate support team.

    Thank you

Quote from an employee of HP

    "It's as expected.

in other words, it is not a bug but was intended to operate in this way.

  • Pavilion g6-2202tx C0P15PA: upgrade: g6-2202tx C0P15PA Pavilion: backlit keyboard, battery and RAM

    Hello

    Product name: g6-2202tx Pavilion

    Product number: C0P15PA

    OS: windows 10 (64-bit)

    Location: Mumbai, India.

I want to update my laptop ram and replace his keyboard.

Laptop comes with 4 GB of ram which has 800 MHz frequency (you can pl confirm that?).
As product specifications page indicates that frequency of 1600 MHz is supported by the motherboard, I'll buy extra 4gigs of memory at 1600 MHz. Sera - what a good choice, or despite the frequency of 1600 MHz, the two ram runs at 800 MHz? I would have to buy 8 GB memory at 1600 MHz. can you pl developed on the same.

Secondly, I have "keyboard full size style Island w / pad" keyboard, which is not backlit. and I really need a backlit keyboard, I can replace the keyboard with a backlit keyboard of HP. If Yes, can you pl tell me the process? Is the laptop motherboard supports backlit keyboard? will I need to update the firmware and driver for the same? I can buy a market?

Backup of my laptop battery has significantly reduced. In recent days, I also get a message at startup, which suggests for the replacement of the battery. Where can I buy a new battery? What specifications I need to know to buy a battery compatible, true.

My laptop is under warranty HP on site. (the battery is not under warranty, as collateral for the battery has expired.)

How does the whole scenario fits with the product under warranty.

    Thank you!!

  • HP Pavilion Elite keyboard symbols stop working correctly

Pretty weird, but incredibly annoying problem!  The hard drive on my HP Pavilion crashed a month or there while it was still under warranty so I took it in the Future Shop to fix.  When I got it after they have installed a new hard drive for some of the keys on the keyboard displays stop symbols appropriate after a few minutes (in particular the []------'; keys), among other problems.   It drives me crazy because I'm a writer and I use these keys all the time.  It is not only on documents Word - it's also in emails, so I know that it is not only a word problem, or it least it seems to be, but generally it doesn't seem to be mainly in Word and emails.  I had to reinstall all my programs when I got the computer back, so I'm also working with a new installation of Word.  I tried all the regular solutions - check the settings of keyboard and the region etc.  All seem good.

The HP now displays caution Microsoft 7 isn't a real construction.  Since Windows OEM, I don't have a disk for it.  I tried to solve this problem and read somewhere that Microsoft caused diabolically things to stop working after a while if the generation is not authentic.

Maybe the keyboard problem related to this?  I'm willing to spend a little money, to buy a new keyboard, all it takes to fix.  I'll be a little PO would be if I have to buy another copy of Windows, but less expensive than buying a new computer!

I hesitate to take over the computer at Future Shop because I already did once, and they had no solution.  Very very bad service.  I'll be wary of their warranty service in the future.  If I take to anyone, it will be my computer guy of reliable neighborhood - but it does of course.

Any suggestions would be mucho appreciated.
