F100-NH Pavilion: Pavilion HP KEYBOARD PROBLEM

Hello world!

I have a laptop HP Pavilion F100-NH with Win 8.1.

2 weeks before my keyboard has a problem. I started windows and I couldn't type anything. I removed the keyboard from the Device Manager, and then I restarted > it would be OK.

But today, I have the same problem. I just removed the keyboard from the device, restarted Manager and nothing happens... And now I don't see the "keyboard" devices more. Strange.

The hardware itself has a problem, because I can use it during startup. Windows has a problem. How could I solve this problem?

I tried to reinstall the chipset driver (I thought that this may be a solution), but I couldn't find the chipset driver.

Thank you for your answer!

Best regards:

Csaba

HI @loscsaba,

Thank you for your request!

I understand that once before you have had a problem with the keyboard does not not after scoring in Windows.  You went to the Device Manager, removed the keyboard and rebooted.  The keyboard once again fully functional. Two weeks later the return issue, but repeating the previous steps did not help. After removing the keyboard when you restart, it was no longer listed in Device Manager.  When in Device Manager, if you are looking for a material change the keyboard appear?

Thinking it might be a chipset driver you went looking for an update, but have been unable to locate one.

When I searched for your laptop, I get several results.  To get the right pair, please provide your model number. How can I find my model number or product number?

Here is a link to HP Notebook PC - portable keyboard troubleshooting (Windows 10: 8).  You would also go the HP Support Assistant to help solve this problem?  You can also try running the troubleshooter in Windows Help.

Please let me know the results.

Good luck!

Try using another browser (Google Chrome / Firefox) for a test to see if the keyboard problem still occurs. If it is not then the issue could be a problem with Internet Explorer.  What version you have installed? (IE6/IE7 or IE8)

The same thing happens when you type in a document when you use Microsoft Word or Open Office?

  • Pavilion dv7 keyboard problem

    Product name: Pavilion dv7

    Product number: QG703EA #B1A

Recently bought, that IMO has a problem which is probably a BIOS-solvable one. There is a setting in the BIOS, named "Mode of Action keys", which:

-If you select 'Off', action keys function as a normal function (F1-F12) keys without the need for "Fn" be in a hurry.

-When set to "Enabled", action keys work like the keys action and in one wishes to operate normally the function keys (F1 to F12), you have to press "Fn".

However, this setting does not apply to the "Ins" key Regardless of the parameter "Action keys Mode", "Ins" requires always 'Fn' be in a hurry, something that is not acceptable for everyday use.

IMO, it's most of the time an arrangement which will be set to 'Disabled' because when you work on a computer, most of the time we have to function keys to work as not as action keys and function keys. Keep in mind that it's a computer, not an mp3 player, so we want to quickly access the keys F1 to F12 and Ins, no controls brightness and PrintScreen.

If anyone from HP support sees this message, please pass this issue as a bug report to the appropriate support team.

    Thank you

  • HP Pavilion 17: keyboard problem after BIOS upgrade

This isn't a terribly troubling problem, but I will mention it if HP is the reform of systems of thought from these forums.  I recently downloaded and applied the update of the BIOS HP with HP Support Assistant.  After, my keyboard does not work on the login screen Windows 10.

I connect using a PIN code but can no longer enter the PIN code using the keyboard.  The figures of the 'line' number work very well, however, and as soon as I'm connected, the keyboard works normally.

And, Yes, I have switched Num Lock

    Plug the power adapter.

Press the power button and then press the ESC key.

Now, press the F2 key to enter the interface of PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.

    Select the Firmware management

At the next screen, choose BIOS Rollback.

Hi, I encountered an error with my keyboard, sometimes the down arrow keys are operated automatically. After this if I press SHIFT lock is twice as long, it is resolved. When I enter the BIOS, it always gives me the beep. This time I press Caps Lock shift once again, twice, it will be solved. What is the problem? How can I fixed it?

  • HP Pavilion Elite keyboard symbols stop working correctly

Pretty weird, but incredibly annoying problem!  The hard drive on my HP Pavilion crashed a month or there while it was still under warranty so I took it in the Future Shop to fix.  When I got it after they have installed a new hard drive for some of the keys on the keyboard displays stop symbols appropriate after a few minutes (in particular the []------'; keys), among other problems.   It drives me crazy because I'm a writer and I use these keys all the time.  It is not only on documents Word - it's also in emails, so I know that it is not only a word problem, or it least it seems to be, but generally it doesn't seem to be mainly in Word and emails.  I had to reinstall all my programs when I got the computer back, so I'm also working with a new installation of Word.  I tried all the regular solutions - check the settings of keyboard and the region etc.  All seem good.

The HP now displays caution Microsoft 7 isn't a real construction.  Since Windows OEM, I don't have a disk for it.  I tried to solve this problem and read somewhere that Microsoft caused diabolically things to stop working after a while if the generation is not authentic.

Maybe the keyboard problem related to this?  I'm willing to spend a little money, to buy a new keyboard, all it takes to fix.  I'll be a little PO would be if I have to buy another copy of Windows, but less expensive than buying a new computer!

I hesitate to take over the computer at Future Shop because I already did once, and they had no solution.  Very very bad service.  I'll be wary of their warranty service in the future.  If I take to anyone, it will be my computer guy of reliable neighborhood - but it does of course.

Any suggestions would be mucho appreciated.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 keyboard works not properly

    Hello

I use a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop running Windows 7 for about a year and a half.  Recently (I can't say exactly when) I noticed that my keyboard does not work properly.  There is nothing huge, but sometimes I have to push a button twice before she will comply, or it will be delayed in its response.  Another thing is that I originally used to have to hold the function key and press the space bar at the same time turn off the light that surrounds the touchpad. Now, I just simply press the function key (not now) and, no matter how many other keys I press on in the meantime, the next time that I press the space bar, the light turns off.  It's both distracting and frustrating because I need to press the space bar to operate normally.

My drivers are all up to date.  I tried to remove them and reinstall them. I changed a few settings in the Bios, and then reset the default settings, all to nothing does not.  I would appreciate any idea or you guys can offer me solutions.

    Thank you!

    Hi El Nacho,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I read your thread on your HP Pavilion dv6 and keyboard problems. Here is a link to uninstall the keyboard. Restart the computer after the uninstall, it must be reinstalled automatically.

Have you tried to take a little air to the keyboard to see if maybe it's dust or debris which initially are intermittent use?

    Thank you.

  • Portege R830 - Trackpad/keyboard problem

HI - hope someone can help because I have only a few strands of hair left out!

In the last two weeks, a problem has developed with the trackpad - and maybe my keyboard. Here are some of the symptoms

    1. the cursor on the screen suddenly freezes. If I leave the laptop and work back, and it's not.

    2. If I tap on the keyboard (can simply press the keys or I could be typing in a document) and the cursor may freeze again. During this event the little 'mouse/trackpad' power icon flashes briefly on the screen. If I hit another key (literally anywhere on the keyboard) a number of times (not the model number) the icon can cycle and the slider moves and then freeze again.

It's as if each key on the keyboard is somehow the role of the FnF9 key.

Unfortunately I took the laptop on a business trip recently and this time after initialization the laptop - the cursor was frozen and no amount of pressure button thoughtful or random didn't get going. It is a working battery. That scared the hell out of me.

If I plug in a USB keyboard and mouse and then pressing the keys on this keyboard does not cause the cursor to freeze. But he can do anyway - as described in 1. above.

The F9 key will unlock the cursor (I guess re - turn on the trackpad) - but it won't be long before cycle back again.

I did not drop the phone. There is nothing physically wrong with her. The battery holds its charge and it starts successfully. I did no change of material during the month.

The only button on the keyboard that is not working is the mouse/trackpad power button just above the space bar. It feels a bit depressed - but I think that is how it has always been. Juggle it makes no difference to this bizarre and erratic behavior. But perhaps this is relevant.

    When I tried.

    Reinstall the trackpad driver (Synaptics).

    Reinstall the PVAT (value package).

I even tried to re-imaging of HARD drive to one of these days - and the other just after that I bought the laptop in 2012. Which should have solved if it was a software/driver problem - but it didn't.

One thing I did not, is venturing into the BIOS. Maybe there is something in them?

In Device Manager that everything is listed - no warning at all. There seems to be be no IRQ conflict.

This could be a hardware problem? I read that the keyboards on R830 are quite likely to damage/stoppage of work. A the United Kingdom popular auction site has sellers who claim to have sold more than 40! That's a lot of R830s who have had new keyboards.

I also know that a replacement is a pain, so I hope that's not it.

Someone at - it suggestions? It makes me crazy.

I google extensively and can't come up with anything either. There are the usual raft of people trying to find how to activate the trackpad or disable - but none seem to be struggling with the laptop made for them.

    Help!

    Hello

According to the description of your problem, it seems that the touchpad is disabled automatically.
As you have already mentioned, the touchpad can be enabled and disabled by using the FN + F9 key combination function

Since you have also some keyboard problems, my theory is that there is a problem of keyboard that may be responsible for the touchpad ON / OFF question.

What do you think of this theory?

I put t think there is a software problem because as you already reset the system to the point in time at the beginning (factory settings?). This is why I think that the conflict of software cannot be the reason for this.

  • Satellite Pro C50 keyboard problems - A - 1 L 6

    Hello

I just bought this new Satellite Pro.

I have installed all the drivers and updated the bios to the latest version, but I still have the same problem: when I write, many times my keyboard writes double letters (for example, all ten words written keyboard a letter double, as "keybboard").

I tried also to change the properties of the keypad on the control panel of Windows 8, but nothing has changed.

I called support, but they just told me that I have to bring my laptop in a helpdesk: but I need my new computer to work, and I wouldn't be happy to lose at least 4 weeks!

And, support told me that, if the laptop has no hardware problem, I would have to pay for assistance...
    .
So, this is my first experience and unlucy in the world of Toshiba...
Is there someone who can give me some advice to solve this problem?
It may be a problem running on the new laptops, and someone knows how to fix this?

    Thank you very much!

    Hi guys,.

As far as I know that these similar keyboard problems in the past could be resolved by the BIOS updated.
I found the new BIOS for Satellite Pro C50 - A

    Worth a try

Another question: If someone has done to test a USB external keyboard?
In the case where the external USB keyboard would work correctly, this issue isn't associated with BIOS or keyboard controller but probably his keyboard fault internal.

  • Portege M600: keyboard problem

    Hello

My M600 just got a little problem (I hope) today.

The 'x 'key' doesn't quite work. I have to press very hard to show the letter 'x '. It seems that the upper-left hand corner of this key is stuck, so he bends to the bottom right when I press on it. How can I solve this problem?

I am located in Glasgow (G4 0JQ) and do not know if there are any office of maintenance here, but just know the nationalwide Service Pick-Up & return for laptops Web site. However, I prefer to deal face to face with the engineer in a few minutes, because I guess this isn't a big deal, isn't it?

    Thank you very much
    Ting

    Hi Ting

What to say? You know that the best solution is ASP and finally change the keyboard. I really don't think you can fix it alone.

I recommend you check out http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads > find an ASP. You will see where is the nearest ASP. Make a call and see what they say on keyboard problem.

    Hello

It's very strange can you check if this keyboard problem happening using an external USB keyboard?

If the USB keyboard works, your problem is related to the fault of the internal keyboard. In this case it must be replaced.

my laptop has active windows 8 OS

    Hi noor21

If you have similar issues using internal and external keyboard, then I recommend you to run a recovery process that would fix the laptop back to factory settings.

After this check, if your BIOS is up to date.

If the keyboard problem will always appear even if you define the laptop back to factory settings, you must contact the maintainer authorized Toshiba because the keyboard failure may be related to hardware problems.
