You can look online for recovery from the paged media related: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

Once there, enter your product name or number. On your software page and download the drivers, select your operating system and version. Click on "Update".  If the HP recovery support is available for your computer, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for the command Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click on the symbol '+' to expand this entty and click on order to press for more details.

Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Service:

If you live elsewhere, contact details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

Note that if HP no longer provides a recovery media for your model, a few other sites, you can check are: http://www.computersurgeons.com/ and http://www.restoredisks.com/

Don't forget to read through the material in the linked thread before attempting the recovery: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00707939

Good luck

I tried to remove malware from my system so long, so I decided to do a complete reset. Before I have it I order the recovery for my computer disk to reinstall but unfortunately reinstall option disc never came. The recovery partition has been used to reinstall so my computer. I think my computer is still infected because it is in the partition. And because after the reset there are 3 programs in the control panel to uninstall the list of programs that have been updated without an internet connection because I unplugged my computer to the modem during the reset process everything and I am 100% sure that I have not reconnect before seeing these programs. Also, list of updates installed on the Control Panel showed that the 3 programs had updates installed. As these data are still on my system please tell me it is possible for me to do a true thorough reset that removes hard disk and recovery partition then and I can reinstall everything with the HP recovery discs. And please also give advice on the update after. Should I do Windows updates first or updates of HP first. And when it comes to updating the BIOS there are 3 available updates. Can I download and install all 3 starting from the oldest to newest or just the new version? Then when my Windows 8 is fully updated with the HP and Windows tips on how to reinstall Windows 8.1 (free update of Windows Store, no disc) and update? I know I'm asking a lot, but I want to just make sure I do this right so I can enjoy my computer again and if there is a problem, I'll have some kind of reference to look to see where I was wrong. Thanks to all who read this and I am particularly grateful to those who take the time to share their knowledge with me in response.

Thank you for the additional information.

Your best option is to use the recovery media that you should have made when you purchased the computer.  If you do not do this, the only other option you have is to buy the media at HP.  The recovery media will restore your computer to its original configuration and reinstall the recovery partition.

  • dv4-2170us does not recognize the hp recovery discs

I had to replace the hard drive in a laptop dv4-2170us.  Order the HP recovery discs.  After the updated windows install would not work.  I called HP support and they sent a new recovery disks.  The new recovery discs are not recognized.  Get no boot found device, insert the disc and press any key.   I checked the HP site for new firmware and drivers for the dvd drive (HP DVDRAM GT30L) and he says they are up to date.  The version of the firmware is mP04.  I uninstalled the dvd drive in Device Manager and rebooted.  He installed the drive to dvd again and I still have the same problem.  I tried the recovery discs that were not recognzied in an another Dv4-2170us and they are recognized.  I don't understand why the first set of discs have been recognized and the replacement recovery disks are not.  Any help would be appreciated.

Problem solved!  I found there are 2 problems.  (1) there is a problem with the optical drive.  Another laptop of the same model and switched optical drives.  I could then read the second set of HP recovery disks.  The second and third sets sent HP recovery disks had a blue tinge on the data side.  I guess this type of disc is done with a kind of new process and the problem pc couldn't recognize them.  Problem (2) Windows Update doesn't work after recovery has been resolved by installing the driver Intel Rapid Storage Tech.  I found a post where someone had replaced their hard drive and had the same problem.  So if you have had a hard drive crash and replace, and then can not get windows update to work, try to install the driver of tech IRS.

While I can't complain about some of the HP support, they send me two sets of discs of recovery free and expressed them in the mail, I feel some of their support staff lack the technical knowledge, they should have.  I'm no Wizard of computer science but after finding several messages from people having the same problem I had and no one says that the IRS tech driver could be the cure, I feel that their technical support has been insufficient.

Hope this helps those of you with a similar problem.

I found the problem.  See edited message.  Part of the problem of the optical drive, but I'm not dirty it was.  As I said, it would recognize the original recovery disks sent.  They did not have a blue tint on the side of the disc.  After rotation of the optical drive, blue dyed discs have been recognized but remained the problem of windows update after recovery.  The first series of disks would have worked if I had installed the driver of tech IRS.

    Can anyone help?

    Hello

I'm not sure if I understand you doubt correct but must boot from the Toshiba recovery disc. I put t know what laptop you have exactly, but go to the start menu and select the CD/DVD drive to start. After that, follow the instructions on the screen.
    Check this box!

If it doesn't work you should try to clean the lens of the drive. Therefore, you can use a microfibre cloth.

    Hello

I could really do with some help here. I have a PC laptop Toshiba Satellite A210 - 1 4. Disk partitioned with Vista home premium service pack 4.0.

Last night, I used the product recovery disc supllied with the laptop in an attempt to restore its initial configuration.

and the end of the procedure, I find myself with a prompt cmd with X:\windows\system32\cmd.exe in the high bit blue box indicating:

Error: imageX could not apply vista F:\05993xsp.swm Index 2 of ODD to C:\!

Press a key to continue. Box disappears then an administrator: X:\windows\system32\cmd.exe in the top blue bit indicating:

Look for support in the F: drive...
Failed to initialize the raid class.
    No RAID - continue normally...

    X:\Windows\System32 >

Now every time the laptop trying to restart it just comes up with the error message:

CANNOT START WINDOWS. A RECENT HARDWARE CHANGE OR SOFTWARE MAY BE THE
    CAUSE

Below I have then have the possibility of esc or continue with the same result of the system attempts to restart.

The recovery disc has no option of repair on this subject.

need help please, I have no idea.

    Thank you

    Hello

Looks like something was wrong during the recovery procedure.
Have you tried to recover the laptop once more?
If this isn't the case, you should definitely try this!

You are right; hasn t drive recovery option for the repair because the recovery disk is not the same as a MS Vista drive. The recovery disk contains image files (it s a package) and the files contains Vista, Toshiba drivers, tools and additional software.

So if something was happening well wrung out during the recovery procedure, you will not be able to repair the installation of the OS, but you need to run it again.

  • create the VISTA recovery disc

A friend set more than his HP Pavilion dv6226us running VISTA laptop.  The hard drive was full and the machine could not be used for anything else.  Keep wiping the dirve and start over, but there's a VISTA disk recovery for the machine.  The D: partition where HP backup files has been deleted from disk Recovery manager is not an option.  Check the HP support site and there is no the recovery disc for HP for this laptop model with VISTA, at least when I entered all the information on the site it does not list anything.

Is there anything that can be done by copying the correct files in the WINDOWS directory on drive C.

Thanks for any help in advance.

There is a third party site that sells necessary recovery kits. You can try to order a Web site:

  • T430s will not restart, can someone please explain how to use the 4 recovery discs?

So I bought a Lenovo T430s, with Windows 8.1 almost 2 years (off warranty now). It comes frozen, has started to beep, then turns off, and now it won't restart. When I turn it on, it always goes to the black and blue screen that offers a Boot Menu and a Menu of Application. The Start Menu has 2 options: ATAPI CDO: MAST * beep * ADVD - RAM UJ8C2 and PCI LAN: IBA GE Slot 00C v1536 8.

When I bought the laptop, it came with 4 disks. Two of them say "Windows 8 Recovery for Windows 8 Media products", and the other two say "operating system recovery disc, Windows 8 Pro (OEM Activation required 3.0)". "

I don't know what that most of this way. Can someone explain how I can fix or restart my laptop? I wonder if I am supposed to use a bootdisk of some, although it is at a certain menu option... I really appreciate any help

The first item in the Startup tab is 'Boot', Yes?

Press enter and start > splash screen should display with something like a list of the Boot priority order .

What do you see that listed there?

    Kind regards.

    Hello

try to make the CD/DVD drive in the boot order 1

And make sure you only set the CD/DVD drive to be 1st in the boot order to boot from the disk

to boot from the dvd drive to be able to you will see a way to get into the bios Setup at the bottom of the screen or command menu start

It would be F2 or delete etc to enter the BIOS or F12 etc. for the start menu

Change boot order it do dvd drive 1st in the boot order

What can I do without it? I have the sticker windows on the desktop... can I do? Please... I need to use the desktop computer as soon as it is such an inconvenience

    Hello

    read this:

    Ways to reinstall Vista

Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed
