Pavilion 20-b313w: HP Pavilion 20-b313w reset and reinstall with the full recovery disc

I tried to remove malware from my system so long, so I decided to do a complete reset. Before I have it I order the recovery for my computer disk to reinstall but unfortunately reinstall option disc never came. The recovery partition has been used to reinstall so my computer. I think my computer is still infected because it is in the partition. And because after the reset there are 3 programs in the control panel to uninstall the list of programs that have been updated without an internet connection because I unplugged my computer to the modem during the reset process everything and I am 100% sure that I have not reconnect before seeing these programs. Also, list of updates installed on the Control Panel showed that the 3 programs had updates installed. As these data are still on my system please tell me it is possible for me to do a true thorough reset that removes hard disk and recovery partition then and I can reinstall everything with the HP recovery discs. And please also give advice on the update after. Should I do Windows updates first or updates of HP first. And when it comes to updating the BIOS there are 3 available updates. Can I download and install all 3 starting from the oldest to newest or just the new version? Then when my Windows 8 is fully updated with the HP and Windows tips on how to reinstall Windows 8.1 (free update of Windows Store, no disc) and update? I know I'm asking a lot, but I want to just make sure I do this right so I can enjoy my computer again and if there is a problem, I'll have some kind of reference to look to see where I was wrong. Thanks to all who read this and I am particularly grateful to those who take the time to share their knowledge with me in response.

Thank you for the additional information.

Your best option is to use the recovery media that you should have made when you purchased the computer.  If you do not do this, the only other option you have is to buy the media at HP.  The recovery media will restore your computer to its original configuration and reinstall the recovery partition.

  • HP Pavilion a6600f desktop PC communicates only with the monitor

Our bureau a6600f HP Pavilion PC (with OS 64 - bit Windows Vista) has stopped communicating with his monitor.

The start process seems to work for 7-8 seconds before stopping.  We can hear the fans and CD unit turn during this period.  There is no warning beeps.

We went from monitors to exclude a monitor problem. Both have two monitors, that we have given to the case put off until the boot process - which may indicate no comments received.

We tried to reset the BIOS blindly in accordance with the instructions provided for elsewhere in this forum.  We also tried to boot from a CD without success.  Please notify.

Once the boot sequence was not even initializing, I realized, I discovered the solution.  A simple search online for 'black screen' and 'no boot' leads to results multiple problems related to the integrated NVIDIA gpu chip.

The chip is apparently subject to overheating to the point where its connective solder may melt and break its link with the motherboard.  This issue mainly comes in laptops because of the sealed enclosure, but it has been reported also occur in models of office such as ours.

This broken link results in a black screen and an inability to boot into the BIOS.  Several of these instances have been diagnosed wrongly that the motherboards 'failed '.  Fortunately, there's a fix called "reinvest."   It comes down to warm up the chip gpu to the point where his welding redéroule reconnect the loose pins.

Some repair shops are fully aware of this problem and offer to repair it for about $80 at present.  Some DIY Laptop owners have also posted videos online in order to document how they have reorganized their own chips using a variety of means.

I decided to take the road of this last, warm our chip NVIDIA gpu with a heat gun using a heat shield to protect surrounding components of the motherboard.  My attempt to reflow works perfectly, so I handed in thermal sinks the gpu with some thermal paste expenses place to finish the job.

To summarize the question, our desktop HP Pavilion a6600f PC lost communication with his chip gpu NVIDIA Geforce 7100 integrated due to the chip overheat and melt its connective solder.  This broken link compromised the ability of the motherboard to initialize its startup sequence, which gives no output to the screen, resulting in a screen empty.  A new graphics card does not resolve the issue, given that the motherboard was inoperative because of the connective issue with the gpu chip built-in.  Reinvest the gpu chip has solved the problem.

  • Pavilion m6 - stop suddenly and mystery of the power cord

    Hi people,

I got a very strange problem with my laptop from m6-1035dx Pavilion the past two days. This is a reconditioned unit and have had some problems with it in the past (both hardware and software-related) that I managed to fix me, but this one left me speechless.

It started yesterday when the computer was placed on a bed (with a CoolerMaster pad below, which I almost never separate the portable device) and immediately turn off the power. In the past, I had problems with heat stops, that I solved with a bit of air in canned and CoolerMaster pad said, so I don't think much. But the same thing happened today, and I noticed that when it has restarted, it does not recognize the fact that the computer is plugged in. Unplugged the cord/AC converter to three points (computer, converter, wall) and tried again, still nothing. Tried another outlet, blew the vents, power off and removed/re-inserted battery, still no recognition of the power. I reinstalled HP CoolSense (which I had removed several months before) and hope that would take care of things. Meanwhile, I shut the computer off again, and the LED power indicator lit on its own.

Several hours later, the computer was reactivated and placed on a flat surface. Someone tripping over the cord, and the computer turns off again. The LED power indicator is out once more, so I unplugged the power cord and left for a few minutes. Blocked again, and the power was back.

I am reasonably confident that I should replace the power cord at this point, but I want expert advice before I commit the money that him. It may also be interesting to note that while the power cord did not work, the battery (92%) had about two hours and six minutes of use remaining, which is well below the advertised battery capacity (to be noted that only Chrome was running at the time) and what I saw of the battery in the past. I think that the cable or converter can be shorted, then is it safe to use the computer at all? Wouldn't be a good idea to replace the battery as well? I will provide any other details if necessary and thank you in advance for any help or advice.

    Hi maestro35,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I understand that you are having feeding problems with your Pavilion m6. I'll be happy to help you with this. If it is running with the battery, I wouldn't worry about the replacement of the battery quite yet. As for the fact that it gives you less time announced that it could be the mere fact that the battery life decreases over time. You don't mention your operating system, this is why I have included two links below which will allow you to test and calibrate the battery. This will confirm that the battery is working properly.

Test and calibrate the battery (Windows 7)

Test and calibrate the battery (Windows 8)

I agree that it appears as if the power cord is the question. If you have a similar cord, you might give it a try to see, but there's a chance it might be the prospects of power supply for laptop. If something is shorted, then you shouldn't really use the laptop but without testing actually physically we will not be able to determine if something is put in short circuit.

  • Pavilion Elite HPE-170 t: problem with the new HP DH16D5S DVD ROM drive

My office is a HP Pavilion Elite HPE-170 t.  I recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10.  I have two HP optical dirives, one is a writer, and the other is just a DVD ROM  Both have always worked perfectly with Windows 7.  After you have installed Windows 10 continuous burner work very well works correctly with autoplay.  However, the DVD - ROM, HP DH16D5S, immediately began using autoplay.  Actually the drive was not yet recognized as a drive when you view the drives in the file Explorer.  Finally, it would seem, sometimes taking also longer than 5 minutes or more before doing so and then would work very well.  I tried different types of media, including music CD, DVD video and DVD software with the same results.  I assumed that it was a problem with the drive, maybe a bad capacitor, etc., which was originally not start correctly.  So I ordered a new DH160D5S, but which seems to have been a waste of time and money, because it does exactly the same thing as the original.  I even changed the cables autour between it and the burner, but it made no difference.  The burner still works fine but not DVD ROM.  I tried to find a more recent driver for it, but had no chance.  I found on a Dell website for this drive which was an update of the firmware for Windows Vista and Windows 7, but not for Windows 10.  I advanced and downloaded, but when I tried to run, I got the message: "your system does not meet the minimum requirements for this update.  Update has been canceled. »

I want to try a different brand of DVD ROM, but would have to buy one without knowing if it would help.

    Any help will be appreciated.

Since I posted this message I discovered that there is a driver problem with this DVD ROM.  There's no driver available yet to make the drive compatible with Windows 10.  Since then, I returned the drive and replaced by another brand that is compatible with Windows 10.

  • HP Pavilion Elite HPE - 580t: SATA HDD recognized and boots with the 2nd HARD drive, but not without

    Hello

I have a Pavilion HPE - 580t with windows 7 installed.  The original drive (Drive1) has (according to Windows Disk Manager), a 100 MB system partition, a partition of 1 GB operating system and recovery partition.  The drive began to generate disk errors.  I added a second SATA (lecteur2), which has been recognized in the BIOS - it always appears at startup.

I do not have to implement a system of lecteur2, but re-installed Windows 7 100 MB partition using lecteur2 as boot drive (not a cover), and it works fine, for most.  Reader1 still generates errors and slows down the office, but if I disconnect reader1, lecteur2 is ignored at the start, as the Bureau attempts a network boot.  I have confirmed in Windows OS is the start of the lecteur2, not reader1, but once again, lecteur2 is ignored as boot device if reader1 is not present.  I should add that this was the case when I was reinstalling the OS, I tried unplugging reader1 prior to re - install, but could not do and still access lecteur2.

I tried to go up during the boot sequence in the Setup (F10), no change.  One additional thing - Setup (F10) is available that when reader1 is connected - F10 key has no effect at startup if reader1 is detached.  F10 Setup runs from the system on Disk1 area?  Any ideas on what I need to do to drop Drive1?

    Thank you

    David

I can now tell you 2 things on your system.

    (1) the original hard drive is 1.5 TB and that is embedded in the tattoo of HP.

    (2) you cannot use a disk less than 1.5 TB as primary drive.

Never seen a facility like this scheme start between readers.  The only way I see on this perdictament is to remove the 1 TB drive and let the process of recovery of re - install the operating system. Then immediately clone the original on a new disk of 1.5 or 2 t. Attention to not exceed 2 TB. Seagate and WD has a free program for Disk Wizard for cloning option.

  • HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p199: need help with the installation and activation of 10 Windows after completely uninstalling Windows

    Hello HP assistants.

I need help for a specific problem. My laptop came with an installation of Windows 8.1. Then I upgraded to 10 Windows when it became available. After a while, I decided to uninstall Windows completely (to wipe the hard drive) and install a Linux operating system.

Now, I decided that I want to use some software that is not available on Linux and if I want to reinstall Windows 10. My problem is that Windows has completely disappeared in a form any. So now, I need to download Windows 10 from an official source (which I think can be done fairly easily from the official source of Microsoft, although if there is a better, HP official medium to do this then please recommend it) and then I need to activate Windows some how.

As has been made clear, I have the right to use Windows 8.1 and 10 but I would need to download Windows 10 and turn it on. Is there a way to do this? I'm literally stuck without solution.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

As long as the previous installation of Windows 10 had activated Ok after upgrade from 8.1, you can simply perform a new installation as described in the guide on the following link.  Note: On the activation screen, select "I don't have a product key" - Windows will activate automatically once installation is complete.

Laptop starts up OK, but with a white screen, pulling the adapter allows image appear, no other problems. Battery charge OK but cannot be used while charging. This didn't happen with windows 8.1

    Hello

    I had the same problem.

If you go into the power settings (right click on the battery icon), select additional power settings and change the power plan that you use.  The brightness slider is the wrong way autour if you selected it to its maximum intensity is in fact completely black.  Move the cursor to the other end and save the settings (nothing will happen as long as you save the settings).  The reason it's ok on battery is that the cursor is somewhere in the middle.

    I hope this helps.

  • Desktop Pavilion AIO: make the initial recovery disc/usb key

Greetings... Have a new AIO is coming soon.  Of course the first thing I want to do is to make a backup of recovery.  Is it possible to do the recovery media allotted one without having to start in win10 (a virgin)

?  Can a key be pressed to start upward to enter the recovery for this Manager?  We need to start in uefi and disable secure first drive?  If anyone has any experience in doing this, I'd appreciate a 'how '.  What key/s to start etc.

Thank you for reading and advice.  I read in the hp support how to do it, but it was win10.

Nothing specific, but that is how I wanted to do.  This is resolved.  I have made memory recovery USB flash.  Thanks for your thoughts.
