Pavillion g6 with/without reinstall drive replacement hard drive?

I need to replace the hard drive on a G6 Pavillion.  Unfortunately, we have no recovery discs.  Is it possible to reinstall Windows 7 without having to buy the operating system?

Recovery disc for Windows 7 are usually under $ 20. They can be ordered from your page of Support or by phone.

I need to replace my hard drive. Can I reinstall Windows Vista on the new drive? I have to do something in order to reuse the product key?

Yes, you can reinstall Vista on the new drive (but it must be removed from the old drive or the old disk must be ignored if you can't access it to remove the program).

You may have problems with automatic activation (not usually, but sometimes).  If so, simply activate manually.

To activate manually, go to start, search, and type in slui 4 enter.  Enter your country and press Next.  You will be on a screen with a phone number and a bunch of codes below.  Dial the number and browse automatic guests until you get to a human being.  Have your handy product code because it will be asked.  Explain the situation, but it's the same PC and only installed on this PC.  They should give you a code to enter on this screen to activate Vista.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Version Windows 7 Basic reinstall after replacing hard drive

I lost my restore CD and had to replace my hard drive. The system had a preinstalled version of Windows 7 Basic. The key does not exist in my laptop lenovo. Can you please let me know if the same key can be used if I download the software from the site of Ms.

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

It relates to the 'device modem on high definition audio bus"which now appears as one? in the Device Manager. It is also seems to hinder my web browsers.
Ive been in the sites Toshiba and download and install the audio device and realtek modem drivers, nothing seems to work.

Im a part time computer user so any friendly advice is welcome

If uninstalling and reinstalling these drivers do not work then the next step is to do a system restore to restore the registry to an earlier date.

If this does not work, then Windows is damaged without repair possible. You may need to run recovery to restore Windows to its factory condition and back up your important data.

  • How do I reinstall my Satellite without reinstall drive?

What is the best way to reconfigure my laptop without the disk configuration?

    Hello

Did you mean the Toshiba Recovery CD?
Well, the best way to install the operating system on the unit is to use the Toshiba Recovery CD because all the drivers, tools and utilities are preinstalled on the image of Toshiba.
But if you don t have this nice CD so you can also install the original OS of Microsoft Windows and the necessary things of Toshiba.
All Toshiba drivers, you will find on the Toshiba download area:

  • problems with reinstalling xp pro on replacement hard drive

I have a Dell Dimension 8400 purchased in 2005. I am trying to replace the old hard drive (SATA, WD, 250 G) with a similar (same room, only 500 G). After many difficulties, I had a bootable CD and was able to start with the new drive in, and I started to reinstall XP. But halfway through, he started to say various files were missing, and the installation worked properly - XP starts to load, then a get a blue screen and error message.

Has been the problem with the partition of the drive? With the file system? With missing controllers?

A reinstallation is possible with the Dell XP?

There a better way to do it, by copying the old disk to the new disk image? Which copy on XP properly?

I have spent hours on this problem so far and would welcome any advice.

Several people seem to have had similar problems, but do not know if they are exactly the same questions.

  • have replaced my HARD original with an SSD drive, but now my laptop does not recognize HP support assistant?

    Dear Forum,

I replaced my original HARD with a SSD drive, but now HP support assistant recognizes my phone? The program runs but updates always fail and when I look at general specifications the serial number, product name, number of product, microprocessors, system memory, motherboard, bios system, drive hard (s), and optical drive (s) are all empty. Interestingly, it recognizes the device to display (s) as being mobile intel (R) HD graphics and current resolution of 1366 x 768 and refresh rate 60.

My laptop is an Australian model HP DV4 3029tx, which is an intel i5 14 "(2ème génération) with AMD graphics 6750" I replaced the original 640 GB hd with a 180 GB ocz vertex 2 using acronis to clone the drive.

I would be grateful is anyone know how to get hp support assistant to recognize my computer.

  • Replace hard drive, no readable product key; How to reinstall Windows 7?

I bought a Dell laptop with Windows 7: Home Premium pre-installed a year and half ago.  The hard drive just completely crushed, and I just got a replacement hard drive for it.  The computer did not include a recovery disk, and the product key on the bottom sticker has worn to the point of being unreadable.  How can I reinstall Windows 7 for the new hard drive?

You need to contact DELL technical support about obtaining a replacement product key because they are responsible for the license that is preloaded on your computer.

In any event, at least, we can connect you to an official Microsoft Windows 7 disc download, which you can use to put Windows 7 on the computer and with some drivers from this site, we can get you going again. You'll need another computer with internet access and a DVD burner or another flash drive.

The key must rely on the label inside the battery bay or your laptop.

I think that what you did was copy the program to restore the laptop computer files. Actually let Recovery Manager do the recovery media by running the Recovery Manager program.

  • Hard drive Windows 7 to transfer to the new motherboard without reinstalling

    Hey all -

So, my goal is to transfer my old hard drive to a new motherboard without reinstalling my OS. I heard that it is possible, but difficult.

If I find it's too intimidating, anyone know how I can do to reinstall my windows 7 if I don't have an installation disc? I got it through the .edu email and I don't know that I have the original installation file, is it possible for me to re - download without paying again?

Install everything on the new motherboard, and then turn it on.  It should be like Windows Vista, it will take some time to sort itself, go online to get drivers etc (so ensure you have the new drivers for motherboard on hand like LAN, graphics etc. where it cannot find them online), but you shouldn't have to reinstall.  You will have to reactivate.

  • Satellite Pro 2100: How do I reinstall the OS after replacing HARD drive

I have a Toshiba SP2100 and I want to replace the hard drive, but I don't have any recovery CD
So, how can I put the o/s back on?

Try to connect the external HARD drive to the computer via the USB port and try to copy all content from the internal HARD disk external HARD drive. Then you could try to insert the external HARD drive in the laptop.
But I've never tried this procedure and don t know if it will work.

But usually after replacing HARD drive you should boot from the Boot CD as recovery CD or the original CD of Microsoft Windows.
After the installation of clean Windows OS, you can visit the Toshiba drivers and you can download and install the drivers of Toshiba and utilities.

  • Replace hard drive Seagate ST32500641AS

I have a 9150 Deminsion and crashed the SATA hard drive ST3160828AS.  I am installing a Seagate ST3500641AS in replacement.  I left the rider in place to run 1.5 instead of 3.0.  When I check the BIOS configuration, it shows that I have a ST3500320AS SATA-0.  I'm trying to reinstall Windows XP.  On installation it tells me I have to press F6.  When I do, and then click the 's', he wants a diskette with the top driver.  First of all, I have no disk on this machine and the second, Seagate shows that the pilot must come from the manufacturing of the motherboard.  I entered my Service tag to get a list of what's on the 9150 and there is nothing on the motherboard.  The only thing I see on the motherboard is cRUus.

If I install without hitting the F6 key and let it continue, when the time comes to START the machine, it shows no. BOOT DEVICE AVAILABLE.  If I use a bootable CD, and once it has started, remove it, Windows XP will come and will work perfectly.  Only problem is, there are several deivces which are not identifiable and therefore do not have drivers associated with them.

Suggestions as to what to try next would be greatly appreciated.  I tried everything I know to do.
