PC Fax Modem re-installed program

I have an old computer that once bought included a fax modem that I could send and receive faxes.  When I bought the computer this feature was already installed. Recently, my computer caught a virus and professional attachment he had to remove all of the programs, one of whom was the fax program.  I do not have a fax modem CD, so how do you restore the modem to fax without the CD.  Can someone direct me to a site where I can download the free program?   Oh! I have the Windows XP operating system.

You don't need a CD of Modem fax, but you need the OS CD

If you have the CD of the OS or can work if you borrow one.

Go to: Control Panel, add / remove programs, click Add/Remove Windows components.

Put a stop to the Fax and click Next, insert the operating system CD when prompted and click OK.

If the welcome popup, click on leave, the wizard should install the Fax.

Go to: all programs, accessories, Communications, Fax, Fax consul.

You now get the fax configuration wizard, you can click Next and config, immediately or click Cancel.

If you click Cancel, then yes the consul Fax opens and you can configure from the Menu, click Tools.

Alert security Windows open at any given time you will need to click on unlock to use Fax.

    Hey @HD-Heemskerk,.

I see you are trying to fax from your PC in 10 Windows with printer all-in-one Officejet 5610. I can help you with that.

You should be able to fax if you download and install the latest drivers. You can find the drivers by clicking on this link.

When you want to fax you must start by opening to the top of the print window, as if you were going to print. When you do, you should see a printer or a file to print with the printer name and (Fax) at the end. If you select that and try to print, you should see your fax options appears.

Please let me know if this allows you to fax. If so, please click on accept solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. The two icons are below this post.

  • Remove the Inspiron 545 fax modem

Can I permanently remove the PCI data fax modem for my Inspiron 545?

    Fred

If you do not need, of course.

Just to be safe, manually set a system restore point. Then, go into Device Manager and look for the FAX modem. Right-click and select uninstall to uninstall the driver, so you will only get the error messages about "device not found". Manager of output devices and shut down.

Unplug the PC and the power button press / hold for ~ 15 sec open the case and remove the modem card. Install an empty PCI housing to cover the empty space to keep the dust/dirt off the case and maintain the normal air flow. Close the case, and you should be good to go.

  • Fax and Scan in Windows 7 - cannot connect to a fax modem

Fax and scan worked under Vista. Shows Device Manager this modem (Dell Conexant D850 56 K V.92 DFVc) doesn't work and it has the most current driver. I can successfully query the modem via the Diagnostics tab but when I try to set up a fax account, I get a message: "year error occurred." Please try the operation again later or contact your administrator. "Any ideas on how to make this work?

    Thank you!

    Cindy

    Hi Cindy,.

As someone suggested on your Dell forums thread, your system is not compatible with Windows 7 and Dell did not provide any Windows 7 drivers for your specific model. If you want these drivers created, you must contact Dell directly.

The most I can recommend download the Windows Vista driver for the modem and install it in the mode of compatibility and explained below:
HOW to: Install a hardware device using the Compatibility Mode driver

If this does not resolve the problem, you need to go back to Windows Vista or buy a Windows 7 compatible modem. If you want to ensure that a specific modem is compatible Windows 7, I recommend using the Windows 7 compatibility list.

  • Unposted fax modem

I have a modem router Netgear broadband not recognized by Windows scanning and Fax. Why is this? I want to send/receive faxes occasionally.

    Bob Ryder

    Hello

You cannot send and receive regular faxes thought there Internet.

Fax it uses own protocol that needs a real modem and the connection to the classic telephone line.

It is important to do it through the computer, you must install a Fax Modem on the computer and connect a regular telephone land line on it.

Alternatively, you can get all-in-one (AIO) printer/copy/fax, which is compatible with Win 7 and network ready , then check with the computer via the network.

The IOA will have a regular phone land line too.
