'PC' is not set up to establish a connection on port "file and printer sharing (SMB)" with this computer - I get this after enabling access to public folders and then trying to access (another pc on the network cannot connect to this pc but see).

  • Tried to reconfigure the firewall
• Tried to change files and printers, sharing options
  • Restarted other computers trying to connect to my public folder
  • Tried to adjust the network discovery
  • Do all computers on the network among the same workgroup
  • I can access public folders from the other computer and their content
  • Other computers on my network, in my workgroup can see my public folders, and users, but cannot access it.
  • Other computers can see my computer, but can not access: error code: 0 x 80070035.

Can't access: 'Public' and 'Users' in the title:

-Network
MyName-PC

Please don't give me that: "If you try to connect to another computer, make sure that this computer is on, that you have enabled file and printer sharing on both computers, and file and printer sharing can communicate through your firewall." Because I seek NOT to connect to another computer... I want to just access MY Public folder and the users folder and eventually allow others to access also.

Hi Katmandu774,

Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums.

The Public folder is a convenient way to share files that are stored on your computer. You can share files in this folder with other people using the same computer and with people using other computers on the same network. Any file or folder you put in the folder Public is automatically shared with the people who have access to your Public folder.

If you are not on a domain, you can limit network access to the Public folder so that people with a user account and password for this computer. To do this, turn on sharing protected by password.

  1. Open the network and sharing Center by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, click network and Internet, click network and sharing Center.
  2. Click the arrow next to password protected sharing, and then click one of the following options:

·         Turn on password protected sharing

·         Turn off password protected sharing

  1. Click apply. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

To control the level of access to the Public folder

  1. Open the network and sharing Center by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, click network and Internet, click network and sharing Center.
  2. Click the arrow next to public folder sharing, and then click one of the following options:

·         Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can open files

·         Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can open, change and create files

·         Turn off sharing (people logged on to this computer can still access this folder)

  1. Click apply. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Also, make sure you add everyone to the public folder and give the necessary permissions to access it.

  • Local host is not set up to establish a connection on port nnnn

I installed VS 2010 Ultimate and Silverlight 4.0 and they seem to run OK on this Vista platform.  I also use Security Essentials.

However when I run a sample application (using asp) which apparently works OK for Microsoft guru (Karl Shifflett) who wrote it, IE 8 throws the error in the title above.

While they inspected on the internet, I found a lot of similar problems that generally seems to point to a security problem.  However, I can't find the problem.

  • Getting the error "There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network." on XP computer

"There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network." I keep getting these messages on my computer. -What it means and how to solve this?

IP addresses are assigned to a computer in one of two basic methods: the address is assigned automatically by the device "in charge" of the network (in your case, the wifi hotspot router) or the address is set manually on the computer.

If the address is assigned automatically, the router is "smart" enough to assign a different address for everyone.  However, if your computer has a fixed or 'static' IP address assigned manually, it may conflict with an address assigned by the router to another computer.

You do not specify, so I'm going to assume that your computer is running WIndows XP...

    1. On your computer, open the network connections (start > run > ncpa.cpl > OK)
    2. Right-click on the icon for your wireless adapter and select Properties
    3. Click on the 'Général' tab, select "Protocol Internet (TCP/IP)" from the list of "this connection uses the following items" and click "Properties".
    4. Select the boxes for two on "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically"
    5. OK your way out.

This will not adversely affect your computer somehow.

If the two "automatic" settings were already selected, it is likely that your wireless adapter is managed by a utility provided by the manufacturer of your computer or your adapter wifi rather than Windows.  There should be a wifi icon in the system notification area (near the time display).  Click or right-click on it and see if you can access the menu of configuration settings or to determine at which it is useful.

  • Windows XP SP3: There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network.

As mentioned, I am under Windows XP SP3.  Starting around June 14, 2011, I get this error message: "There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network."  I didn't any problem access the internet, which is weird considering all the forums I've read the user has had problems with this.

I followed the steps to solving this problem.  I checked the IP addresses on all devices connected to my network. none match the computer, I get this message.  I tried refreshing and renew my address this computer's IP, but that has not solved the problem.  I've updated my modem drivers; who has not solved.  I checked the settings on my router but nothing.  I have turned off all devices in the House connected to the network, unplugged both the modem and the router, plugged the modem back in (anticipated for a constant signal), then plugged the router and gives him the time, but I got the message again.  I ran scans anti-virus and anti-malware, but neither picked up something.

I am out of resources in this regard.  I guess that something might be wrong with the router, but that doesn't seem right.  I had no problems with the router as I bought it a year ago, and as I mentioned there are no connectivity issues (always as fast as I'm willing to pay my provider).  Two things have popped up in my mind that could possibly impact this: all about 14, there was a Windows update that has pushed down and the message began not to burst, until, after downloading (but I have not had this same problem on other computers that have received these updates) , and there was a very, very brief power surge (second meaning) in the House around the 16th which caused no (to my knowledge) do anything stop but not a hand a few clocks.  Thank for any help with this!

No. except if you must move the computer to another network or if you are not actually that responsible for the network.

As long as you are in charge of your network, you can configure your router to reserve an IP for your machine OR set up so that the DHCP range is, for example, all the IP addresses above to x.x.x.100 and you you give an IP address below that (say x.x.x.99).

In the first case, you let your computer configured as DHCP - your router just recognize it and gives this machine (and only this machine) reserved IP address.  For the latter, need to change the settings in Windows after changing your router so the DHCP range does not interfere with the static IP address range.  I would say that the latter is more likely to be a problem than the first, especially if there is a chance that this machine moves from one network to the other.

Personally, I use the booking method on my home network.  In this way my laptop, iPad, etc. all get a given IP address every time (an I know) and I have to set up the real device special somehow.

  • That means "another device on the network use the IP address of your computer"?, that means "another device on the network is using the IP address of your computer?

That means "another device on the network use the IP address of your computer"?, that means "another device on the network is using the IP address of your computer?

    A

Most likely, the computer becomes a network address of a router. The assignment of an address ("lease") expires and must be renewed after a certain period of time, which could be an hour or a day. The lease expired without being renewed because the device has been disconnected at the time. Meanwhile, the address has been leased to another device on the network, or maybe the router has not updated its list of addresses the leases. When the device offline comes back online, a conflict results. Depending on the type of router you have, the conflict can resolve itself automatically. If not, then in the menu bar, select please

    ▹ System Preferences network ▹ 

If the preferences window is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Click the Advanced button, and then select the TCP/IP tab in the sheet that drops down. Look at the menu option

    Configure IPv4

If the selection in this menu is

    Using DHCP

    Click on the button

    Renew the DHCP lease

    Test.

Make sure that you have more than one DHCP server on the network. That could happen if you have more than one access point Wi - Fi, or if you have a router and broadband a wide device distinct in connection mode sharing.

    B

Less likely, you have a network address that you assigned yourself and another device is itself by assigning the same address. In this case, the selection to configure IPv4 menu will be either manually or using DHCP with manual address. This kind of conflict will not be resolved automatically. You have the following options to solve:

    1. Change the selection in menu using DHCP.
    2. Change the address assigned manually to one that is not used by another device.
    3. Change the address of the other device.

Which of these options you choose depends on the details of why you use a static IP address. Any changes you make to the network settings is necessary before taking effect. To do this, click OK, and then click apply.

If the router is also your device at wide band, then he may be operating in bridged mode. In this case, only one customer at a time will be able to connect to the Internet. Consult the manufacturer or ISP documentation for how to reconfigure the device in the connection mode sharing.

    C

According to a report a "DirectTV" receiver can cause the problem. If necessary, disconnect the device from the network, or power off and test. Consult the support services provider.

Method 2: Release and renew the IP configuration.

    • Click Start. Click Run, type cmd, press ENTER.

  • NAS hard drive not accessible more: the device is not configured to accept connections on port 'files and printers sharing (SMB).

    Dear,

I am desperately looking for a solution for my specific problem how access my NAS.

I have a hard drive from Western Digital NAS (Book Live) which worked fine until now. Yet, I just changed my internet provider and I now have a new Fritzbox 6360. Now, I can not access the hard disk of the commune of programs in Windows. I contacted two suppliers already, but without success. I think I have some incorrect settings in my Windows 7, 64 bit. This is the situation:

-NAS is still working with my old Fritzbox, for testing that I went back-> ok

-I can access the NAS via the dashboard or a TwonkyServer-> ok

-When I access it via Windows Explorer, I wonder is to give my credentials (which don't work) or I get the error message: the device is not configured to accept connections on port 'files and printers sharing (SMB).

-J' changed my IP address (dynamic even static) and connections, password-> without success.

-J' tried SFC with the result that found no violation of integrity. -> ok.

    Any idea?

Can you please turn off the NAS, unplug the cable and Ethernet cable? Wait about 2 minutes then plug all the cables back in. Any security program or firewall to this computer? Try disabling it for now.

You have another PC or laptop which has Windows 7/8 and try to access the NAS?

You have a smartphone or a Tablet and download an application for the WD NAS and then try to access files.

  • How to access multiple VMs on the network with nic 1 host?

    Greetings,

I have a server vmware running windows XP with 3 virtual machines in suse. I would like to access the 3 virtual machines from the network at the same time. The vm 3 has their own static ip address. I use the bridge network mode. There is only 1 NETWORK card on the XP computer. With this configuration, I can access only 1 vm the network at a time. When I added an another NIC and jumpered it on a second computer, virtual, then I can access 2 at the same time.  Any ideas on how I can access all the vm 3 at the same time on the network with just 1 NETWORK card?

Even if you only have a physical NETWORK adapter, you should be able to access all the guests at the same time when they use bridged networking and have a correct IP configuration. Can you put your host IP configuration and your guests so we can check it out. Make sure the guests are really "bridged" and disable all firewall during the test.
