Hey Asherlee

try a restore of the system before this happened

If necessary do in safe mode

Using the F8 method:

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
  3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
  4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
  5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
  6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

  • Remove the reference to the earlier Version of Windows

I already deleted the old file of windows and want the program to automatically, select Windows 7 and continue the statup rather than compels me to do the selection.  Everything works ok but it would speed up the boot process if the reference to the earlier version of windows has been omitted.

You can go to control panel, system, advanced system (in the left pane), startup and recovery. You can select the default OS and uncheck time to display list of operating systems. Which will automatically default start without any delay.

  • Accidentally, I bought the Windows 7 Professional upgrade and does not have an earlier version of Windows

    Hello

Recently I bought Windows 7 Professional upgrade because of the student discount, I had about it, not realizing it was only an upgrade. I do not have an earlier version of windows, and so now I have a copy of UN activated Windows. My question is can I buy an old vista or XP and just plug this code? It is said the upgrade works from previous versions and because I already bought the upgrade I look forward to having to buy a brand to the copy of windows 7, if I buy xp or vista.
    Thanks for your help.
    -Bill

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

Note: You will not have to activate the previous license, just install.

    Option 2:

Call the Activation Center and explain your situation.

Skip entering your product key Windows 7 and complete the installation.

When you reach the desktop, click Start, right-click on computer

    Click on properties

Scroll down to the Windows Activation

Click the link x days before activation.

Click on the link that says: "show me other ways to activate.

    Enter the product key

    Click next

Select the Activation of the phone

Click Next when you enter your key page

    Select your country

Click Next, call the number listed

Be sure to explain your situation to the Appeals Officer.

Provide the installation generated when ID requested by the call agent

They give a confirmation ID in return, enter it

Click next to complete the activation.

  • Anyone know where I can find FreeCell Solitaire 'traditional' in & used by earlier versions of Windows (I had Vista)?

Fortunately I download from the Internet if necessary - I like to keep a 'traditional' desktop shortcut (I don't like or use the new windows desktop 8). I can't find games with the same background, the bridges of photo tips for FreeCell, and ability to delete FreeCell statistics.

I know that these games, but a lot changed on Windows 8, but I would like to than the original versions.

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

In windows 8, you can download and install games on Windows Store. Games are embedded as in previous versions of Windows are not present in Windows 8. You can download Microsoft Solitaire Collection in the Windows store that includes 5 variants of Solitaire (Klondike, FreeCell, Spider, TriPeaks and pyramid).

Most of the games you know and played on earlier versions of Windows, also works with Windows 8, but some older games might not. To see if your favorite game works with Windows 8, go to the Compatibility Center for Windows 8and then press or click the game on PC to see if there's information about your game.

After the upgrade, I want the computer to open to strictly Windows 7.  I get a page asking if I want to Windows 7 or an earlier version.  There also all programs on the file for XP that I didn't need since the upgrade, I transferred all my documents, files, etc.: on my removable hard drive.  How I can do all this extra to elimintate bits of information and make it turn on the computer faster and more accurate?

  • How can I remove an earlier version of windows after installing Windows 7?

I had Vista installed when I bought the computer, but when I installed my free copy of Windows 7 upgrade it have not migrated user to the new operating system files, and the old files are still there. How can I remove the old files without damaging the currently installed version? Is there a place I can have the whole system analyzed to see which files should be deleted and those who must be kept?

The Windows.old folder has two objectives:
    (1) can be used to uninstall Windows 7 and return your PC to the previous version of Windows.
    (2) contains a backup of all your files of data, documents, photos, Etc. from the previous version of Windows.

If you don't need either of these two options can delete the Windows.old folder.

Note: Option to change Windows Explorer to see the Windows.old folder:
Click on start and enter in the box "Search": "hidden" (without the quotes)
Click on the "Show the hidden files and folders" option at the top of the list.
    In the "Folder Options" window
Click the 'view' if it is not already selected.
In the list "Advanced settings" locate "hidden files and folders".
Now click 'show files and folders '.
    Then, disable the following:
"Hide empty drives in the computer folder.
"Hide the extensions of the file types that you want to know."
    "Hide protected operating system files"

Click on the "Apply" button and the OK"" button.

  • How to install an earlier version of Windows 7 to install the updates more later?

I bought the full version of Photoshop 3.0 when it first came out.  I installed it on a Windows XP-based computer and then as later versions, 5.0, 7.0, CS, CS2 and CS5 is out, I bought the updates and install them on the Windows XP computer.  I recently bought a new computer with Windows 7 (64-bit).  When I tried to install my Photoshop 3.0, it would move and gave the message that it is not compatible with the 64-bit operating system.  I can't install my CS5 Upgrade without an earlier version is installed on the Windows 7 computer.

I tried right click on the Setup file then properties/compatibility and changed to "run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 7.  Still will not install.

Is there anything else I can do, other than to pay the full purchase price again ONCE for a full version that will install on Windows 7?

    Hi papawbailey,

    Greetings!

You can install CS5 directly on PC Windows 7.

There is no need to install Photoshop 3.0.

The only thing that it wil ask a CS5 as well upgrade the previous version key, which is the only key.

Just to put this key and then install it.

    It should work fine.

  • go back to an earlier version of windows

    Hello

My laptop has begun warning that my version of windows is not genuine, and I know now that it is because of the update to Windows 7 Ultimate Online.

The laptop came with Windows Vista installed, and I would like to know how and if it is possible to go back to this version without losing any docs / photos.

He has had a terrible effect on my pc, with almost all the programs no longer works.

    Help, please!

    Thanks, N

    Hi N

A solution would be to save all your documents and photos, etc. on an external source, hard disk or pen drive and then return to the factory settings. In other words, that the computer was when you bought it all first.  You will lose any additional programs that you have installed.

apologies if this has been posted before,

I think I threw my windows Millennium cd and now I want to fresh install my xp pro Upgrade on a new drive and cant

    so, what can I do?

    Hello

    (1) what is the brand and model of your computer?

    (2) was Windows Millennium Edition preinstalled on your computer?

If you want to upgrade to Windows XP, then you must perform a full factory restore and install Windows Millennium Edition on your computer. After that you can upgrade to Windows XP.

Note: Perform a factory restore can cause data loss. You can save the data to a CD or external hard drive for data recovery.

Contact the manufacturer of your computer and ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your laptop / desktop to restore it to factory settings. See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
