PDF doc opens in Word

Whenever I try to open a PDF doc it will automatically try to open in Word.  I have to save doc on countertop, then open it in PDF format which is very long and VERY boring!  Can anyone help please?  I tried unloading and reloading Adobe Reader several times, but with no joy.

Hello DoonieM,

It seems that there is association with PDF file on your computer problem. Please set Adobe Reader as default application for the PDF reader to view the PDF in Reader instead of the word.

    Hi padgetcat440,

I see that you have a Pack PDF Adobe membership. You can access it directly from this link: https://cloud.acrobat.com (click the tab ExportPDF if want to convert a PDF to Word file). If you have Acrobat Reader, you can also access the ExportPDF function in the tool pane there.

Please let us know how it goes.

    Hi [email protected] ,

Please try to follow the steps mentioned in this thread with a similar problem: Impossible to open the document. Please check if you have read permissions for the above file.

Also, let us know the acrobat version you have and the version of the OS on your system.

  • I tried to open a Word doc attachment in my email and get a window stating "Creating an Adobe PDF file"

When I try to open an attachment in my email Word doc I get a dialog box saying "Create Adobe PDF, PDFMaker missing files, you want to run the installer in repair mode?"   I tried not to convert a word in a PDF doc daughter.  I just tried to open the word document.  The next window that appears is the Adobe Acrobat window.  If I want to open a word doc file that I received in my email I first have to register the word doc on my desk open my program Word, then drag the Word doc recorded from my office to the document that is open in Word. program.  It started just in the last few months.  Never happened before.  What is happening here?

Apparently, you tried to open a DOC file to PDF quite awhile, and your system is confused. In any case, go to a DOC or DOCX file (or both) in the Windows Explorer and right click. Select open with and select WORD - always check open with button.

Check that the other WORD documents open correctly from the Explorer. Try again your e-mail address. If e-mail is not fixed, then look in the list of applications in your email inbox (some do) and fix the problem here. It might also be useful by turning on the display of extensions in Explorer, so you can see that a file is in fact a word with the appropriate extension. (just try to cover as many opportunities as possible now).

  • Open a new window when linking between PDF docs (link originates in a Word doc)

    Hello

I saw this discussed historically general topic, but couldn't find any resolution.  I have a Word doc (let's call it A.doc) linking to a PDF doc (let's call it b.pdf). Once I have convert Word doc to PDF (A.pdf creation), I want the link en.pdf to open b.pdf in a new window.

I've seen a number of suggestions that indicate that I can set up the link in Word to do this, use her change the hyperlink > target frame > frame target > 'new window '.  While this works if I click on the link in Word, it does seem to "reporter" once I converted A.doc to A.pdf.  When I click the link en.pdf then B.pdf opens in the same window in time.

I know how to add manually link in Acrobat.pdf to do this, but I don't want you add manually the link every time I create A.pdf.  I want to create the link once in A.doc and did delay in time, and then open the b.pdf link in a new window.

I've seen suggestions on adding some HTML somewhere.  Unfortunately, they are not, that I'm viewing the PDF files in a browser.

I saw suggestions for using the CTRL key at the same time click on the link en.pdf.  Would not be practical, because I have no way to make sure that my users will know it.

I've seen suggestions on the use of JavaScript, but it would mean (I know) I have to add the JavaScript whenever I convert A.doc A.pdf.  Still, I won't have to do any post-processing of A.pdf after I got it to create.  I want the link in 'just work' A.doc after A.pdf is created, i.e. open b.pdf in a new window.

This * seems * like a simple thing to do, I hope there is a simple solution.

BTW, I'm using Word 2007 and Acrobat X.

    Thanks for your help!

    Dave

I use Word 2003 and Acrobat 10 and links created as you describe defaults to 'new window '.

You have the 'Open links in the same interdocument window' unchecked in Edit > Preferences > Documents?

.. sounds too easy... (and your users will probably have to make the change even if they need this behavior, unless you have a very techno IT department that can deploy configuration files large company).

I just stumbled upon this problem there is, it's an easy solution to calm. If it's a .pdf to locate the file right click and select open with, then choose program select by default, choose the adobe reader software. What it does for each .pdf file it will use adobe reader instead of trying to use the wrong program to open the file. Same thing with .doc and .docx files only instead of adobe reader choose microsoft word

    Hi Alex,

This is not related to Acrobat, Microsoft, you can see this problem with Microsoft Word is known: grant access file: cannot open the document: user - Microsoft Community it is a sandbox application. It restricts user with several workflow.

Unfortunately, there isn't much we can help at this stage.

  • Cannot open the files Pdf/Doc on pc opens on the iphone

I have win7 64 bit with Internet Explorer 11. I downloaded the reader acrobat CC in order to open an attachment (file .xlsx) and when I click to open the message-Adobe acrobat reader DC error cannot open (file name) because it is not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an attachment to e-mail and has not been correctly decoded)

However, I have this same program adobe on my Iphone6 and its opening with no problems

I also tried to open a file from the internet (DOC file) and received the same error message? Yet once, it opened without error on my Iphone6?

Then, I saved the DOC file online on my pc, with no chance to have it open with acrobat reader Dc

I checked with the default programs for PDF. DOC and watch Acrobat as a default to open these types of files

Don't know what the problem just can't open anything on pc, but they all work on Iphone?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Ed,

Adobe Reader can open .pdf files. Please make sure you choose the appropriate program to open email attachments.

For example: .xlsx is a MS Excel file & .doc is MS Word file.

    Kind regards

  • Convert Word to PDF doc

I bought the PAK and always impossible to convert a word in a PDF doc.  He repeated to me that I need to register and pay the $9,99... what I have done.  Help!

    wavchsr22,

I'm sorry for the problem that you are experiencing.

Would that you do the following so that we can solve the problem?

    * In the Acrobat DC application, make sure that you are connected with the same identifier Adobe that you used to purchase the service Pack of PDF.

    * Check the status of your subscription via the web interface.

    1. Open a web browser.
    2. Go to https://cloud.acrobat.com/
    3. Tap / click your name in the upper right of the page to open the menu.
    4. Select "My Plan...". "in the menu.

That accurately reflects the current plan you have?

  • New PC with Windows XP, XP replacement. My PDF docs are not open

New PC with Windows XP, XP replacement. My PDF docs are not open and I get the following messages: BE Adobe Reader could not open 'xxx.doc' because it is not a type of supported file or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an attachment to e-mail and has not been correctly decoded). OR Word now converts your PDF in an editable Word document. This can take some time. etc. Help please.

You have Microsoft Word installed? If so, it seems that you need to change your file associations so that Word opens files .doc instead of the player. To do this, select a .doc file, right-click and choose "open with > choose default program", select MS Word and make sure that "Always use the selected program to open this type of file" is selected.

  • How to open Docx and doc. attachments with Word 2013 from Firefox

I just got a new laptop and installed Office 2013. However, when I try to open an attachment to my e-mail or a document on the web, the box comes up that says: ' Firefox do with this file? I can save the file fine, but when I click on 'Browse' next door 'open with', Microsoft Word is not found. It would be nice to get the document automatically opens in Word. I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question, but any help would be appreciated.

Which application opens the file if you double-click such a file in Windows Explorer?

If the default program is the word Firefox should offer this application by default.

In the case of an attachment then it would be unlikely that the file is to send with the right MIME type for a doc or docx file, but perhaps also a generic type as "application/octet-stream" that will make Firefox want to save the file.
