• PE1800 and PV110T LTO3 - ultra-lente performance

  I use the linux tar to back up data to a tape, LTO3 PowerVault 100t (several files about 5 GB each, every day a total of nearly 160 GB).
  The problem is that the tape is slaughter starts every 5-6 seconds, I think that's what you call "Shiners", and the data rate is subject (please, no kidding!) only 2 MB/sec!

  Download the System Build and Update Utility, burn it to a DVD and then start to it. Follow the prompts on the screen to install the operating system. It will be to preload drivers necessary for installation. If the copy of the 2008 Retail is not recognized as an operating system valid for the SBUU then you should be able to install directly from the DVD to the BONE.

  You should be able to see all the partitions in any operating system. They will be marked differently in each operating system, but they will be present and you should be able to read/write for them across Windows operating systems.

  I have a DELL PE1800 with ESXi 3.5 U3 Server installed on HD1. The card mother port SATA 0 failed. I bought a new sata, Rosewill RC-218 controller card. Installed and attached hard drives. Configured the BIOS to disable the integrated and restarted sata controller. Now ESXi 3.5 will not start.

  My old configuration has two hd with ESXi 3.5 U3 on disk 1 and my VM on disc 2. Now no drives are seen by ESXi 3.5. Yet see bios of them.

  Plug your storage space on good sata port. I have an eye for a sata controller from dell PERC 5 can be had quite cheaply on ebay and others.
