The hard disk configuration

I am waiting for hard drive prices come back down, and in the meantime I am installing a hard drive for my new build system. I'm a newbie to video editing and will be editing 1080 p MPEG-4 AVC / H.264 (Canon Rebel t2i). I have 8 GB of ram.

Here's what I have available, I think they should be in square brackets >:

60GB SSD (Corsair Force 3) < OS/progs >

500GB 7200 RPM external (but connected via esata) < media/data >

300 GB drive at 5400 RPM laptop drive < work >

250 GB drive at 5400 RPM laptop <? swap file? >

What is the recommended configuration for this? (it's just to last me for about 6 months)

Thanks in advance

Mushkin 8 GB DDR3

MSI N460GTX-M2D1GD5/OC2 GeForce GTX 460 1 GB

Corsair Force Series 3 CSSD-F60GB3A-BK 2.5 "SATA III SSD 60 GB

Power PC and silent cooling, High Performance Mk II 750W 80PLUS Silver

ASUS P8P67-M PRO LGA 1155

Intel Core i5 - 2500K CPU (O.C.)

Looks like you thought about her with the means at your disposal. Nothing wrong with this configuration and for your peace of mind, eSATA is as fast as the SATA.

    Hello

    ·         You have several configured on the system start?

This can happen if you have a multiboot system, or if there are multiple partitions on the disk.

During the installation of XP, make sure that you select C: as the partition where you want to install the operating system. Then to comply once more he comply when it prompts you to install XP on the C: drive. Check whether the problem is resolved. I suggest you follow the steps mentioned in the article below.

  • Why the hard disk is divided into partitions of two data (C:Vista and E: Data)?

I just started a new A200-1V0 and found that disk space is divided into two partitions of sizes equal 'C:Vista' and ' E: Data "(and a small one EISA).

WHY? What is the logic and purpose? It's not even as if the C:Vista partition is smaller and intended only to the tricks of the 'system' as the root 'Users' (user Documents) is on it also.

This is the default for Vista (my first use of it), if not, who said that Toshiba could do this without asking me?

How can I move the root 'Users' in Vista (in the data partition) - if I have two partitions that I might as well use it?

I can resize partitions in Vista without a utility 3 rd-party (or a complete backup/restore)?

    Hello just YOU

Please don't be offended because there is no reason for this. You bought the new product with the factory settings. Toshiba and other hardware manufacturer do not know every customer personally and, unfortunately, it was not possible to ask YOU how to set up YOUR laptop.

Because of this, there is a recovery of product support that allows to configure the HARD disk according to your wishes and needs.

Please use this DVD and install OS how you want it to be. What recovery procedure starts, you will see CONFIGURATION option on the right side. Click on it and choose the right option.

Reinstall the OS and enjoy your life. Really, I don't have the time to write on the floors of two partitions, because this is basic stuff and you probably don't want to waste your time to read this.

    Bye and good luck!

  • When I put my Vista laptop to sleep (or hybrid sleep), it turns off the hard disk completely?

The reason why I ask, is that if the hard drive is completely off then I'd feel sure put my laptop in its case and then walk with it (possibility of jerking around as if he were completely off), but if the hard disk is still spinning and then I don't want to treat it as if the computer is running.

essentially, this question is not whether my information is stored in memory or on the hard drive, what power I am saving, etc..  I just want to know, standby or hybrid sleep in windows vista on a portable computer, the hard drive always turns?

The hard drive (and monitor) turn off during the sleep or hibernation mode.  The only thing is that some things can take the system into "sleep" or hibernation mode (some connectios network can do if configured to do so) how the hard drive and maybe the monitor turns on.  If you pay attention to set up your power options and network options, this should not be a problem for you.  Here's a great article on the problems of Power Options and Sleep Mode so that you can check to make sure that you have none of the problems listed and can be corrected if you: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/63567-power-options-sleep-mode-problems.html.  I suggest you carefully read this article if you intend to be rude with your laptop, because you consider the closed disc.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Move the existing 5.5 ESXi installation of the HARD disk on USB.

I need help on what would be the best approach to move my existing ESXi 5.5 install the HARD disk to the new USB.

Then you tell your environment uses the local disk to your VM data store (s)? In addition, you want to move your partition ESXi to USB and recover the local disk space? I think if it was me, the the more safe thing to do would be to shut down the system, pull on the local drive on just enough to disable / he dethrone, insert the USB key and run ESXi installation. Then (after checking the boot order) reinstall the local disk and boot the system. Once the USB key version boots, make your configurations (DNS, NTP, license etc.) and add the data store (s) existing local drive. You can then add existing virtual machines via "navigation" of the data store (s).

  • Why the HARD disk is partitioned into C & D on Satellite Pro C partition

Why the HARD drive is divided and how to use it?

It is important that the one that I use?
It turns into one big disk?

The manual says nothing about this.

    Thanks for any help

    Ken

    Hello

The HARD disk is partitioned and contains two partitions. The C partition is the system partition that contains the Windows operating system. The second D partition contains data drive HARD recovery.
HARD drive recovery allows you to establish the notebook back to factory settings without the recovery disk usage.

But it s is strongly recommended to create the recovery disk! The user manual provides the info on that in case something goes wrong with the HARD drive, the recovery disk allows you to recover the laptop.

Of course, you can delete the D partition if you want to, but before doing so, you must create the recovery disk.

However, my HARD drive contains 3 partitions. I created an extra. In my case, the C partition contains only system and the unique software. My files private like Mp3, movies, etc. are placed on the D second partition).
The third partition (E) contains a folder with games.

  • Satellite L450 - how do you start the recovery from the HARD disk?

    Hello world

I just joined the forum and already I need help.

I have 2 questions (10) I'm an ODP, and I volunteer for a local blind group who all have laptops and rewrite the textbooks in braille users. Now a desire to know how start recovery from the HARD disk drive and what you should do disks for this.

and (2) another received a laptop computer Toshiba A 100 and it does not start as soon as the Toshiba screen appears it lacks a password, we tried all kinds of passwords, tails of start and a new record of program but it does not start. Can anyone help please.

    Ken

For instructions how to recover a Toshiba laptop with verification of HARD drive recovery procedure please this document > http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm

The Satellite A100, I presume that you need BIOS password. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about it. Accredited maintainer Toshiba can remove the password for you.

    PK

    Hello

The HARD drive slot is not repairable. It s a HARD disk controller and I guess the HARD disk controller is dead.
The HARD disk controller is part of the motherboard and if you want to repair it, so the entire motherboard must be replaced.

New motherboard would cost a small fortune he of not good about market 350Euros
That's why I put t think it is s to replace the mobo only to get the HARD drive in the first location of work

    This is my personal opinion...

  • Impossible to 'System' to defrag Portion of the hard disk on Windows 7 Pro or Windows 8 Pro dvt7-3000

I have a laptop HP Pavilion dvt7-3000 CTO that has a single disk drive hard 500 GB.  The operating system has been improved in Windows7 Pro (64-bit) to Windows 8 Pro (64-bit), but the problem occurs in both operating systems.  When conducting the defragmentation of the different hard disks (C:\ D:\, HP tools and system), the percent of the "System" drive which is fragmented never changes, while the % fragmented adequately for other readers going to 0%.  Over time, the system part of the hard disk rose to 27% fragmented.  How to defragment this drive?

    Hello

The system partition contains the boot files and recovery for Windows 7 environment and should not be défragmentée.  It will always appear to be fragmented and it is quite normal - force this partition defragment would almost certainly avoid the Windows startup.  In addition, the fragmentation in this small partition has absolutely no effect on performance.

For much the same reasons, the recovery partitions or HP_TOOLS must be défragmentées.

    Kind regards

  • Equium U400-145 - where is the HARD disk protection tool?

I just bought an Equium U400-145, and in the manual it says there is a Protection of the hard disk utility and properties are accessible from the icon on the toolbar or via the start menu in Toshiba - Utilities.

There is no icon in the toolbar and without Protection of HARD drive in the start menu. Protection disc HARD drivers are on the C: drive, but when I try to install I get a message HDD Protection is not supported on this model. It's strange because the download from Toshiba site lists the Protection drivers from the HARD drive for this model.

Any who have HARD drive Protection works on this model or know if it should work?

I have a U400 to and protection of the HARD drive is not available on all models of laptops U400.
The user manual has been created for all the U400 laptop models and it of possible that your U400 doesn t support this feature!

    Hi dude

You can use the hard disks of each production. It s any HDD manufacturing is. The HARD drive is important! So you need a drive that supports the enhanced IDE (ATA-6) interface!

The SATA drives are not compatible.

The MK6034GAX 60 GB HDD and MK8032GAX 80 GB HARD drive looks to support the ATA-100 interface (ATA-6). So, in my opinion, the hard drives must be compatible and should run

  • Upgrade the hard disk on Tecra M9 will void the warranty?

    Hello

I want to upgrade the hard drive on a Tecra M9 120 GB to a 200 GB Hitachi Travelstar 7K 200 hard drive SATA 3 GB/s. The coverage still apply for the Tecra after this upgrade?

    Kind regards

    charlieMOGUL

Upgrading the HARD drive would not affect the validity of the guarantee.

But I'm not sure on the size 200 GB HARD drive the BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation and not all dimensions are supported. If the HARD disk is too big, the BIOS would not recognize the new HARD disc.

The problem is that Toshiba doesn't provide any information on HARD drive sizes possible.
I think that you should just look at it

If you have tested this HARD drive, please report it here in the forum I m very interesting if the 200 GB would run properly.

    Good bye
