  • Can I get a new copy of Windows Vista?

    Hello

I'm fixing a PC from one of my friends, unfortunately it has formatted the C drive (I guess he thought it was a good idea?). Anyway, he doesn't have his original copy of windows vista that came with the PC, but the product key is on the side of the tower. Is there a way to get a new copy of vista that works with the product key?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you!

Vista Media recovery obtaining and/or using the Vista recovery on your computer Partition to factory settings .

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • Windows 8 reset has not installed a new copy of windows - PC encountered a problem :(

I use the computer laptop hp pavilion with windows 8 pre-installed top when I bought the laptop. It was working fine until 2 weeks ago when I tried to update windows 8.1. All other updates for windows 8 have already been installed. After installing windows 8.1, the screen started to Flash and flicker. I didn't know what was the problem in spite of the fact that I tried to search and find out if everyone knew the same problem. Anyway I tried to update my PC to return to windows 8, and when I did, I started having this bug saying something like:

Your PC ran into a problem, he needs to restart. We will collect some data, then we will restart for you.
And then the PC restarts. I was frustrated by the presence of mistake over and over again. Then I copied all my data on external hard drive and decided to put my windows to get a new copy of windows 8 is installed. But he also didn't work. After the reset, I noticed that it wasn't a "Reinstall" clean at all. My desktop wallpaper has been same, my home page was even - he remembered my preferences. And once again! I'm having the same error as mentioned above, very often. Its very frustrating and I'm getting very excited now and I don't know what else I can try. Please help me someone...

Thanks for the reply of Mr. Martin.

Well, before you try the method that tells you, I used the HP Recovery Manager tool to reset my windows and the software to its factory settings and fortunately it worked. It reset my laptop with its settings from the factory with all the removed disk partitions, but of course, I made a backup of all my data. Its job well now for windows 8.

    Thanks again for your support.

    Hi Dan Maarsman,.

-Did you change on your computer before this problem?
-Do you have any third party registry cleaner program installed on your computer?

Start your computer Safe Mode and check if you can successfully start.

Safe mode starts Windows with a limited set of files and drivers. Startup programs do not work in safe mode, and only the basic drivers needed to start Windows are installed.

    Hello

There's a photo guide based on the recovery of your model here...

    http://www.Sony-Asia.com/support/tutorial/381906/product/VGN-fz18g

If you cannot use this method because what did your friend, your options are...

    • Pay Sony for media recovery
    • A base Windows installation followed by installing specific Sony drivers and software from their Web site.

If you walk down the road of the latter, I would say that, if possible, before you begin reinstalling Windows you download at least the Ethernet drivers and wireless and save in, for example, a USB key. Start your drivers to search for them (and other) here...

    http://www.Sony-Asia.com/support/product/VGN-fz18g/FAQ

.. everything will be difficult to download if drivers that allow access to the internet are not native to a new installation of Windows.

Your principled stand against Sony charges for media recovery is, in my opinion, wrong. As I already said twice...

If Sony did not provide recovery media that they have provided the means to create them

If you lost or do not burn them and messed up your recovery partition, it's not for lack of Sony.

My serious recommendation is to accept a fee of Sony for the recovery media. It will make life much simpler for you. For this reason alone, it is probably useful tax, especially considering that you're obviously not a user advanced. Otherwise, why ask the help of a friend and ask for help on this forum?

I suspect that the links I've seen on this website are actually only valid for Windows 7 media images. If you do not buy the recovery media and go with an iso image download Vista Home Premium, I have to warn about the following...

    • The legality of this is, at best, questionable
    • If it's not genuine Microsoft media you might end by in an even bigger mess (if it works at all)

Clodzilla, here's my view on this issue.  If you buy the OEM of Vista version, you will get probably better support for forums like this that you would Ms.  In addition, you will find 99% of responses to problems on their Web site.  So, if I were you, I'd take a chance on the OEM version.  It will help you to add improved components to your stature.

  • Need to download & install a new copy of Windows 7 Pro 64 bit for strongly modified pc OEM

Original of the hard drive has crashed, please download & install a new copy of Windows 7 Pro 64 bit on new SSD. I updated day/has replaced most of the OEM parts to 4 + years except for the motherboard, power supply, & tour. I don't have the old parts, sort of recovery disk installs not successfully because of all the improvements. Have drivers for devices newer than all existing parts on a USB ready when necessary. OEM is telling me to go up the PC with its original components to make it work, and I really don't need all the unnecessary software OEM includes in their recovery disk. Microsoft Download site does not allow me to download from a pc OEM product key. How to solve this? I'm always in the respect of the Windows license agreement, so I don't have to pay for it.  Please advise, thank you

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

Installation of xp and blue screen of death

    Hello

I recently formatted the partition boot and recovery of a laptop Medion2230, then merged the two partitions in a single NTFS partition.  Don't ask why, it's a long story.

Then, tried to install a new copy of Windows XP Home.  Everything is OK until the final phase, when the "Blue Screen of death" appeared during the installation of the drivers. Restarted and installing XP as normal to repeat the first onboard staged and went to the "blue screen" at the same point as before.

Using some diagnostic software, I reformatted the drive again, loaded XP set up and I had the same problem.

How to impose a layer of HAL during an upgrade or an installation of Windows XP

    Impose a HAL

To prevent Windows XP to automatically determine the system HAL during the upgrade or installation of Windows XP, you can manually force in a system HAL. To impose an Abstraction Layer HAL during a upgrade or installation of Windows XP, follow these steps:

    1. During the phase in text mode of Setup, when you receive the message at the bottom of the screen, press F5:

Press F6 if you need to install a third-party RAID or SCSI driver.

Note If you press F7, the Standard PC HAL loads and the ACPI enforcement is bypassed.

I would not need this except in the systems of many older and low end... :-(  After all, in the same article, for Standard PC they say: "the CPU can be a 386, 486, Pentium, Pentium II, or Pentium III '...

Thanks for letting us know what you were doing.  Do you have all the necessary drivers after loading Windows XP?  I would not recommend using the default drivers for any hardware - always see what the manufacturer offers on their web page for each component of your system - card motherboard chipset, audio, video, network devices, etc.

  • where can I get a new copy of my windows operating system disks

I need to reformat my hard drive. I can't find my original operating system disks. Ho do new copies? (Windows XP Home edition)

If it is preinstalled with your PC, you will need to contact the manufacturer. Often, they will send you a copy of the disk if you are still under warranty. You can also use any other copy of Windows XP and activate using the product key available in a label on the CPU.

If it's a retail copy, you need to talk to Microsoft and to pay for the copy. If it's Volume License, you can download the iso and burn it to a CD, or pay for the media.
