Photos lost in translation

I am just updating my LR3 catalogs and each time I do a few pictures among hundreds are suddenly labelled 'offline or missing.  I can see the pictures on the hard drive to the correct place, but when I try to re-import them LR3 indicates that they are already in the catalog. I managed to change the status of one by just messing around but I can't seem to replicate the process. I tried to sync but its tells me everything is going well. Pro, Mac OS 10.6.4

  • How can I recover photos lost in the conversion of Photos?

    Was > 90 k pictures and nearly 200 albums iPhoto library. Bought a new iMac with El Capitan and convert photo library. After conversion, most of the albums displayed holders place empty, some with title data, but more without. Saved and repair (command option, open Photos). Post a regeneration, it is now only display 8 k photos with about 10 albums. See no reason for what is successful and what was lost, even if the older DSLR photos seem to be most of what has disappeared. Any help would be appreciated.

    first thing I would do is the original library repeat migration - restore your backup of it and drag the backup restored to Photos icon in the Dock to migrate

  • When iPhoto became Photo, lost my books and calendars

    Read around forums and try to understand how I lost my iPhoto book and the project schedule.  I don't remember read any warning on the supporting projects of book and Calendar Photos in iPhoto, I frankly don't remember knowing that the applications and changed names and capabilities.

    Now that my Mac has pictures, no iPhotos, I have reason to assume that even if I could use Time Machine to restore my projects, they wouldn't work in the new application Photos?

    How each of you to keep on top of upgrades to make sure that such things do not occur?  I have five years of book projects, I had not finished yet on iPhoto and it seems that I have to build their brand new?

    It's unbearably frustrating that Apple took this "no hostages" approach to the prior software... not all of us can spend every day making sure we understand each application update... but who is nuke our older work must be reported in some way.

    Each simple update, that download you has a page, you can read before download you which reflected the changes.

    Photos does not replace iPhoto. iPhoto is still on your computer in the Applications folder. What version do you have now?

    Hello

    It is a good free program to recover data. but no guarantee.

    You may need to contact the data recovery specialists, who are very expensive.

  • Avoid photos lost or missing/proper export/backup of catalog

    I am an amateur photographer who mainly take pictures of family and friends. Our PC just crashed about 3 weeks, so we bought a Mac and update of Lightroom backup off on our external hard drive as the internal hard drive from old PC. I got 4 Lightroom for almost 2 years and have been exporting photos in different folders on both drives (external and internal old PC) in order to not lose them, print them or simply classify elsewhere. For some reason, Lightroom showed hundreds of random as "missing or lost" photos THREE times since we moved to the Mac, and this last time instead of completely erase the Lightroom or charge, I spent 4 hours of hunting and gathering a TON of different files. I know I missed the part on export correctly to avoid this problem, but now that I have this huge mess, I have a few questions.

    1 how/why Lightroom is randomly pick up some files previously exported to lose without losing not others in the same exact import in the same exact folder? How or can I program it not to do so that I don't end up with 400 + photos "missing or lost" for the 4th time in a month?

    2 How to export? Obviously put on a desk or a hard drive, it is difficult for Lightroom to find later, is why the program loses records and I pull my hair back.

    3. can I save my catalog each time I have import new photos to go back if Lightroom shows a large majority of my photos "missing or lost" again?

    Thanks in advance for all your help. I'm so lost, just at the moment where I thought that I understood.

    Molly

    1. Lightroom is not 'lose' the files, this occurs because the user has done something wrong. You cannot move, rename, or delete these photos (or the folders that contain them) outside of Lightroom. If you stop managing your photos outside of Lightroom and do all the managing photos in Lightroom, the problem disappears. Better yet, develop a "workflow" that doesn't require you to move pictures from here to there. To resolve the problem with the missing photos, use these instructions: Adobe Lightroom - find folders and files moved or missing
    2. I would not use the export strategy that you have defined. I would export photos only when you need it outside of Lightroom (example: e-mail, web to print,) and once the exported photos have become useless outside of Lightroom, you delete the exported photos. The original is always managed in Lightroom, so you can find it whenever you need, and you can reproduce if necessary export.
    3. See my response to the #1, making backups is a good thing to do, in fact, I'd say it's mandatory, but is not the way to solve the lack of photo question, actually it will not solve the problem of missing photo.
  • Urgent! Wedding photos - lost please help!

    By mistake I've seemed to have lost the entire collection of wedding photos - they have not been removed completely (because they are not in my trash and I have not emptied!) - I tried to delete 1 photo from the library and he drained 500 pictures a small window open and read "remove from library" (Yes 500 wedding photos - my sister-in-laws wedding!) The title of files are still there, but said no pictures - how to find and recover all of the photos? I had just finished editing all the and now can not find them - please help me!

  • Photos lost track of the original images

    I bought Aperture (my equivalent in local currency of 299 USD), then after that Apple stopped supporting the opening, I migrated to Apple pictures. Just today, I found that more than 500 photos imported from April 2016 are now show as zero KB in the Inspector. The original seem inaccessible to the Photos. The editing mode does not come when I click on 'Edit' and when I zoom to 100%, the image is rasterized.  I cannot determine the cause of this, but managed to find the original images on my drive, in the files managed by the pictures, and themselves do not appear to be corrupt. It seems that the pictures or its metadata the library software is broken. I tried to restart my Mac and the repair of the library three times (starting Photos while pressing the cmd and alt keys). That did not work. Please can you help me?

    In Photos preferences you have unchecked the preference for 'copy items imported to the photo library' (library management and the default and very highly recommended) or you have disabled this preference (a referenced library and strongly discouraged)

    How you import these photos and what? What format are they?

    No more Iphoto in the application folder.

    Newer versions are refused on this computer and what is proposed on the Apple store is too new to the job.

  • Photos - lost can be recovered?

    My husband downloaded pictures of the 2nd anniversary of my grandson from his camera. He thought he had saved on his computer, so he deleted all the pictures of the disc in the camera. Apparently he did not spare them. They're really gone? I hear always people say that stuff on the computer has never really disappeared. Is there an any hopes of restoring these precious photos? They can be recovered?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Windows live photo gallery: original photos lost the transfer to the new computer

    photos to the new computer, and the originals have not been transferred as im guessing they're saved in the software/program that cannot be transferred.

    If there is not a way to transfer original and edited photos to the new computer, is there a way to return all original with a single click, so that I can transfer the originals on my new computer?

    Thank you.

    Thank you, you saved my originals... I copy paste, but can not work how to connect my pictures changed to the originals so that I can click on my modified photos and click on 'back '.

    Thanks again

    ===========================================
    Sorry, but I don't have the exact solution for re - associate the
    originals with edited versions.  The only thing I would like to know
    to try would be to place the originals in the original Images
    folder on the new system.

    Maybe... I say just that maybe if you copied the photo gallery
    exclusive database of the old system and used it to replace
    the database on the new system. (Just copy and paste the file in)
    the appropriate on the new system folder, and when you see
    ... dialog box you want to replace? with? Select Yes.

    Also... you could instead of replace your new database...
    rename it... Pictures.OLD for example. So if the replacement
    do not re - associate files... you can remove the replacement
    and rename the OLD version in what it was and the Gallery
    must be as it was before the change.

    Depending on the version of your photo gallery might be the database
    Pictures.PD5, Pictures.pd6, Pictures.pd7...

    The path to the version of Win XP is:

    C:\Documents and Settings\ > user name<\Local>
    Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Photo Gallery\
    Pictures.PD4, Pictures.pd5 or Pictures.pd6

    Windows Vista:

    C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\
    Windows Photo Gallery\Pictures.pd4 or pd5 pd6

    Windows 7:

    Windows\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\
    Windows Live Photo Gallery\Pictures.pd6

    (Sorry, but I'm not sure of the path in Windows 8 but if you)
    do a search for PD6 PD7, you should be able to find it.

    The former article is a user experience
    with the shifting of the database... maybe it would offer a few ideas:

    I guess you're wondering if you can recover photos from your camera.

    If you have not used the device since you deleted photos, you should be able to recover them with free Recuva.

  • How to recover photos lost the recent upgrade to latest version of LR?

    Recently upgraded to the latest version of LR, only to find dozens of missing photos from my library. Despite hitting the button "find lack of pictures", missing still several important photos. Even the backup of the images in my RAID are missing, including several of those in a mobile smart collection and LR. Not sure if this helps, but they worked on LR and PS (file .psd) images. All the tips...

    Explain how the catalog for the new version was created... Explain in detail, describe each step, leave anything out.

    Also, please indicate which was the version number of LR before the upgrade and the LR version number after the upgrade.

    Also, please indicate which operating system you are using.

    In addition, any Lightroom upgrade does not affect your RAID, so if they are absent, this has nothing to do with Lightroom.

  • Lost in translation (for JS)

    Hi all

    I wrote an applescript script, but I need to convert it to JavaScript to ensure compatibility with a 3rd party pugin.

    I'm having a bit of badly translated the following section of code from as to JS.

    Tell application "Adobe InDesign CS5"

    Set DocumentLinks to the path of file of all links in the active document

    tell the end

    So far, I have the following js:

    var documentLinks = [];

    myDocument var = app.documents.item (0);

    for (var myCounter = 0; myCounter < myDocument.allGraphics.length; myCounter ++) {}

    var myGraphic = myDocument.allGraphics [myCounter];

    myLink var = myGraphic.itemLink;

    var myPath = myLink.filePath;

    var documentLinksCount = documentLinks.push (myPath);

    }

    When I try to run it with a specific indesign document, I get the error 'null is not an object' and the ' var myPath = myLink.filePath; ' line is highlighted.

    I think that this error occurs because as "myDocument.allGraphics.length;" has a value of 19 with this document, but when I look at the links manually palette in indesign, I see only 18 links.

    so somehow, I have a picture on the page that has one track zero which is causing my script for the error.

    can someone tell me the best approach to work around this problem?

    Thank you!

    Sorry, my code there was an error:

    var documentLinks = app.activeDocument.links.everyItem().filePath;

  • can picture of lack of flow of photos with iphone update-how I find them?

    Recently bought a new iphone and imported most of my pictures easily.  I have a group of photos from Nov - Jan, who are now missing the workflow of the photo of my old phone 5s.  I was going to download them on a flash drive that I got wrong to support my phone to itunes (my computer is now too old). is it possible to find these photos 'lost '?  I don't know yet why they just disappeared.  I checked icloud - no chance.  I even kept another return in google - who also lost the same photo group.

    I have a group of photos from Nov - Jan, who are now missing the workflow of the photo of my old phone 5s.

    The photos are only in 'My Photo Stream' or in the film?

    Do you still have the old iPhone, then you could retrieve the pictures from the old iPhone?

    the problem with 'My Photo Stream', is that it is not intended to store pictures, but to transfer them between devices.  iCloud is buffering the pictures that you have imported recently on your device or took these pictures with the flow of the machine and hen to your other devices. But iCloud only stores the most recent photos of the 1000 and don't store them more than a month at the most. Older photos will be eliminated to make room for more recent photos.

    If you activate a new iPhone for my photo stream, it downloads only what is currently in iCloud. Old photos of stream photo cannot be retrieved to iCloud.

    You always have access to the old phone?

  • Keywords in Photos: I'm the only one?

    I am a heavy user of Photos with 20 000 (non-professional) pictures in my library. I spent hundreds of hours of editing, new date and keywording photos pictures (and iPhotos before that). I had a very rough transition from iPhotos to Photos, lost randomly some images, lost random meta data. I am running the latest version of iOS and were at the Apple store dozens of times trying to address any inconsistencies in my photo library. They tried everything short of the nuclear option of pictures of wiping and re - install new, no back-up, which is probably damaged. This option is not possible for me given I would lose all the work that I gave to this labor of love. At this point, I just hope that someone smarter Apple will address these glitches, so I can save my sanity.

    I'm struggling with the loss of functionality in the Photos that I wait patiently for features to be restored (securities transfer of lots, bulk as of a date change, etc.) In the meantime, keywords are sent adjustments. Keywords that I delete do not disappear and appear in searches. I have four key words called '4 star' who all have different pictures in them. I sometimes manually put the different lots '4 stars' key words a single keyword '4 star', but a new keyword is often re-creation. In other words, it's a manual solution sometimes, but only temporary. According to the issue of not really deleting keywords, keywords because duplicate like tribbles makes the problem even worse. I have at least half a dozen keywords in double at some point. Replication problem of keyword seems to be more common with the keywords 'stars' who were previously only stars, but there are many other duplicate keywords.

    My question is: does anyone else have these questions, and if so, did you understand any workaround? I am beyond frustrated. I went full-Apple and full-pictures for this project, and can't give up now. Other chronic problems with Photos?

    P.S. I have also submitted comments from the Apple but don't hold my breath.

    Can you please tell us something about the origin of your photo library?  All my problems with keywords in the Photos had their problem in Aperture and my photo stream.

    Your photo library a new library, was born in pictures, with new photos that have never been in another library, or did you migrate your library somewhere.

    If your library consists only of new photos, and all the keywords have been affected in the Photos, it should help to use the keywords and click on "Edit keywords".  You can use the edit mode to remove all unused keywords.

    But if your library has been migrated from a different library (iPhoto, Aperture) and allowed you to open write the key words in the original images, you're stuck with old advertising keywords, misspellings in them. Photos cannot remove key words written to the original captain of the files.

    I used exiftool from the Terminal to remove all the original files of the masters key words and started in Photos.

    To install exiftool: http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/%7Ephil/exiftool/install.html
