Photoshop CC on CS6 to open and maintain smart-objects

Hello!

Is it possible to open a Photoshop CC file linking psb files it contains on Extended CS6?

I tried this and apparently all smart objects are somewhat pixelated automatically.

There is a warning tho and he says 'this document contains unknown data that will be scrapped to keep editable layers. To keep the original appearance instead, choose Flatten to load composite data as a flattened image. "to keep the layers, cancel and flatter to choose buttons

And when I click the button keep layers, I found that all smart objects are pixelated.

I see tho on the file .psd files.

Please advice.

No, CS6 isn't the feature to link smart objects, so they are pixelated. You have to open them in a CC version that connects SOs then incorporate him bound in order to be able to open them in CS6.

Troubleshooting FAQ: What should I do if I have a subscription, but my application acts as if I had a trial?

  • Photoshop CC15 crashes everytime I open and it forces a restart everytime I try to load it.

I am running the latest version of Windows 10.

    Follow the steps below:

    • Quit Photoshop
    • Navigate to the location - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2015, search the file named sniffer.exe and place it on the desktop.
    • Launch Photoshop and verify.
  • PS CS6 does not and scratch disk/file error

I am a student in Animation, so I had the whole Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium installed there (via the real disk and not CC) a year on my MacBook Pro 2010 having Mountain Lion (10.8.5), but for the last 2 days, Photoshop had problems to open. He begins to open up to the top, but then gives me this:

    Screen Shot 2014-03-30 at 5.29.24 PM.png

The strangest thing is that I did nothing with this file or the main Photoshop files, except for use of the software. I run Photoshop on my computer, but the disk of "scratch" to his memory is on an external hard drive, I learned that it was better to have the software running off the external drive to take pressure off my computer. And Photoshop opened and worked well with my external hard drive as the drive of his work.

Last night, when the problem was first of all, it gave me this message and another after "OKing' to be could not initialize Photoshop and my computer immediately closed.

I then realized that Adobe has had an opinion on my top - bar which I needed to update the software, so I let it run the update. But when he ended updated and closed out of the Update window, Photoshop has always refused to open and I got the same error again. So I decided to just restart my computer, which worked and open PS fine... but a reboot seems to have been only a temporary fix because I came across this error message even still today. I had closed it and then tried to eject my external drive. But it would not eject at first because he said that another program was using. It's a little concerning because the only program that I use on my drive external hard is Photoshop... which was already closed.

I'm thinking that the work of Photoshop on this external drive disk is corrupt or something... Or is it my external drive itself. I'm not very savvy to know exactly what is the problem and how to fix it, but I will not be surprised if the problem is coming from this external drive, even if my Mac is read and it opens without any problem.

So I'll try a few external and discount automatic reformatting hard drive fixed reset record on Photoshop and see if that does this question go away... But all you suggest other ways that could help? Thank you! c:

I discovered that it's actually my external drive which is causing the problem, so I'll close this thread now. Thanks for your suggestions! c:

  • Camera Raw open as smart object is not re-opening Camera Raw on double click!

I can't get the Camera Raw dialog to reappear after I open an image as a smart object in Photoshop.

Note that I'm opening Photoshop CS6, no bridge or Lightroom. I use Open as... (Shift-Ctrl-Alt-O), then select Camera Raw in the file Type drop-down list to open a standard PSD file. It happens in the Camera Raw dialog box. After that making edits (and savings as a preset) I SHIFT-click on the CR Open button to change to Open ACE Object.

It happens in Photoshop with the changes. The thumbnail of the layer shows the small icon of the smart object to this topic. But when I double-click on top the dialogue came not from Camera Raw. Instead, Photoshop opens what appears to be a copy built of the original image with no editing. It carries the extension .psd, not the usual .psb extension. In addition, any changes to this document and save it has bizarre results on the original image.

I swear to you that I managed to do work once earlier today, but now he does this again and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I thought that maybe that's a small problem, but rebooting did not help.

Thanks if you can understand this a ton!

Since I realized this file to open a JPG or PNG (and probably a RAW) as Camera Raw works very well. In other words, I can edit in Camera Raw, and then shift-click to Open the Object and the smart object works fine in Photoshop. It's only when I try to open a PSD file type by using the file > open as... (File type: Camera Raw) I get the weird behavior when I opened CR mods as a smart object. Someone know why it works with a JPG or PNG format, but does not work with a PSD file?

AFTER THAT I have the JPG or PNG opened as a smart object, I can then save it as a PSD and smart objects work fine.

  • CS5 is the opening of the raw files as smart object files im working

I just new branch CS 5 and find this big mistake. When I open the raw file in Camera Raw and I opened a jpg in CS5, it always open as a dynamic object to this small jpg I opened before. The same is my CS 5 when I drag a file on the desktop, it has always finished as long as a smart object to the file im is currently working with. Normally it should open a new file, not as a smart object in this file im working already with.

If you do not want to open images as smart objects when you drag them in Photoshop then go in Edition-> Preferences-> general and uncheck the box 'Place or drag Raster Images as smart objects'. As for Camera Raw, the button open so-called in the Camera Raw dialog box? Open a picture or an open object? You can switch between the two on the fly by pressing the SHIFT key, or you can change the preference among the workflow Options (click on the link button - like from the bottom of the Camera Raw dialog box)

I just downloaded Photoshop CS6 last night and I was able to open the program and use it, but today, 24 hours later, it said my trial has expired... I don't understand why when I had to have a 30 day trial. SO annoying that I didn't properly look at news last night!

    Hi rjbedward,

If the trial version is specified as being expired it is.  There is no way to prolong the trial.  You will find more details on the Adobe trial software has expired at the beginning - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/trial-software-expired-early .html.

    • Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G 63)
    • Suitcase 4

Anyone got any ideas? It is making me go nuts!

    A solution!

It turns out that the problem in my case was in fact the case. Previously, I tried to turn it off, but it does not solve the problem, so this time, I uninstalled it completely and the problem disappeared. Then I started to add new (installed 15.0.1, updated, etc) and the problem has resurfaced with the addition of the specific Photoshop plugin. Removal of this plugin solves the problem. So, it seems that "disabling" suitcase by stopping the TypeCore don't seem to actually deactivate all the tentacles that he sticks in your system.

You can find the plugin here: Applications / Adobe Photoshop CS6 / plugins / automate / ExtensisFontManagementPSCS6.plugin

(After a reboot, I also had to remove the font cache, as described here http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/troubleshoot-fonts-photoshop-cs5.html but your mileage may vary.)

Alternatively, if you do not want to remove the plugin, it disabled in Photoshop seems to work as well. To do this, go to file > Automate > Extensis, click on Preferences..., and then deselect enable Suitcase Fusion 4 - Automatic Activation.

Fortunately, the plugin does not seem necessary at all to use the main features of suitcase (to activate and deactivate fonts) in Photoshop. I didn't even know what these plugins makes specific app until that research on this problem, and I don't always quite understand the point of them. I guess that they allow you to leave the apps for which they are installed a small bit more their own management (activate a font via suitcase that is not on the system-wide), but that seems to be more control I need - if I am allowing a police, I want that all my software to use it.

In any case, the problem seems to be solved completely on my system now, although I have all this, so more tests in the coming days is required. I'll post here if problems arise. I'm interested in hearing if this solve for someone else.

  • Photoshop CS6 - command "open the first image to apply settings" does not - panasonic RAW

I tested the two raw Panasonic GH4 and G7 files. In both cases the Image Processor passes right through without stopping at the window of Camera Raw - raw files even if the "first Open image to apply settings" is checked. Canon's RAW files and Nikon behaves as usual. I use Photoshop CS6 on Windows7 and Camera Raw 9.1.1. Is it a known - problem anyone know a fix?

    By Arne

The problem is RW2 is a new RAW file format and not exists in the CS6 calendar.   Adobe does not refresh the old version of their software.  However, you can resolve this problem. Change of line 115 of file "Image Processor.jsx" Add RW2 as this:

    gFilesForCameraRaw = Array ('TIF', "CRW", "NEF", "RAF", "ORF", "MRW", "DCR", "MOS", "CRS", "PEF", "DCR", "CR2", "DNG", "RAILWAY", "X3F", 'GROSS', "RW2");

Today, all of a sudden my photoshop cs6 stopped opening files. Drag & Drop and file > open... does not work. Only the system restart solved this but only for a while.

Someone at - there a sulution for this problem? THX

    Hi mmatrix,

    Greetings.

    • Try to re-create preferences - restore preferences quickly by using a keyboard shortcut: press and hold Alt + Ctrl + Shift (Windows) or Option + command + shift (Mac OS) when you start Photoshop. You are prompted to delete the current settings. New preferences files are created the next time you start Photoshop
    • Open PS, click Help - updates and make sure your PS CS6 is up-to-date.
    • An update (if available), restart your computer.
