  I have been using CS5 for about 2 years now and all of a sudden it began to act up. I do a lot of fading gradient on the photos of the band, that is to say their fading into one another. I am a novice at best, but I have a working knowledge of the program. A few weeks ago my gradients started acting goofy. Normally, I could take a picture, melted the transparent edges multiple times on the same mask. IE I could open a layer mask, all fades I wanted and then move to the next photo. I scoured google and went on an endless search of people having this problem and told to use other tools, other methods, etc. I know what I'm doing (and have done successfully for 2 years) for whatever reason something is twisted, or change a setting that allow me to I reset gradients, followed by the preferences button Reset procedure and even completely uninstalled the program of my rig and re-installed. Nothing did.

  I suspect that you used to have degraded Foreground Transparent value option, and that you now put in the foreground to the background.

  To test... Create a folder on your desktop.  Copy some files into it - of different types.  I say COPY and not MOVE on the goal here - because you can just blow this folder and all that results from this folder later if it was all fair copies of things.

  Make a right click on this folder and choose "send to" and "compress (ZIP) file and give a name to the new 'folder '.  (It's really a file.)  On your desktop, you should have the original folder you created and copied some stuff in, and a new "folder" with the name you just gave.  If you open the 'new' folder - you should see the name of the folder that is still on the desktop and go to this folder, you should see the files.  You literally use Windows Vista to the 'discovery' inside a ZIP file as if it were a folder.

  Go to the OPTIONS - STATUS to write the total of the file and free file numbers.

• Photoshop keeps acting as if I'm holding keys

  A bit of a bug/issue complicated, but I'll do my best to try to explain what is happening.

  I work with Photoshop CC 2014 on a Mac, Yosemite 10.10.5. I have a Wacom Cintiq 13HD installed with the latest drivers (maybe that's still her, I don't know).

  When I'm not working, Photoshop seem to think sometimes that I cling on certain keys. It will happen randomly when I'm working, and it became very frustrating.

  For example, when I use the Brush tool and I cancel an order (cmd + alt + z), sometimes it will act as if I keep cmd + ALT. This is especially annoying because, while I am painting and drawing and occasionally using the Undo command, it move at random and duplicate my layer. Other times, it will not change the tool and will recognize that I have let go of those keys, so I never know when it will happen. This happened even when using ExpressKeys of the Tablet (which I have to cmd + alt + z), so this isn't a problem with the keys on my keyboard.

  Sometimes it will also think I retain only cmd and will move my layer. Same thing when I use the ExpressKeys.

  Or, for example, when I hold alt to use the pipette, it will still hold the pipette sometimes after I have have let go of the ALT key and have the active brush tool.

  What worked for me is to hit Esc whenever I see that the cursor indicates a different tool, but it's really annoying to have the cursor randomly changes every few seconds and have to spend half my time to work find how to cancel travel and the color that I took before and etc..
