• Photosmart 2710 - bot scanner can be initialized

  I have a photsmart 2710, which recently has begun to come up with an error message saying that the scanner cannot be found when we try to analyze the HP Device Manager. It has always worked in the past. We use Mac OSX 10.7. It is very furstrating. We tried to uninstall HP, then reisntalling, but it did not work. Anyone has any ideas that might help? Fortunately, printing is good.

  I see you have a Photosmart 2710, which is not eager to scan with your Mac OS x 10.7 on it. I will certainly do my best to help you with this!

  By checking the site/drivers for this printer, there is no HP drivers for 10.7, which means that you would be scan using the HP software not Apple software.

  I recommend that you follow this document uninstalling the printer software for the HP software removed. Once it is complete, please be sure to run your Apple updates. Once which is complete, restart your Mac and proceed with the installation of the printer by following this OS X Lion v10.7: install and use the printer with Lion document, and follow this how Scan: OS X v10.7 document to see how to scan via the Apple software.

  Note: You can download the drivers until Windows Vista. For windows 7, win 8 and 8.1 will have integrated pilot. You can also check in windows updates for the latest drivers.

  If you have configured your wireless printer. Note the printer ip address and enter in the browser where you will have an option of detection.

  I'm having the same problem. Can connect to print, but does not scan using Windows 7 and HP Photosmart 2710.

  HP's web site says that they do not have a Windows 7 driver that works for all. You will need to connect your computer to the device via USB to use the scan function.

  If all goes well, HP will find a way to generate a driver that allows all features of their unit to operate wireless with Windows 7. I can do both print and scan using my other Windows XP laptop and desktop using wireless driver HP Windows XP.

• Windows 7 & Photosmart 2710 on network

  Just installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.  I downloaded the software package for the Photosmart 2710 for 64-bit Vista and am trying to install.

  I just got to a screen that tries to find the 2710 thanks to my network, but it is unable to 'see', it seems.

  Setup request "choose how will connect your device...". "and I can choose"directly via USB' or 'my network '.  When I select 'my network', the screen disappears for about 1 second then comes back asking me to choose how I'm conneting the printer.

  The printer is connected and work through the network with my Windows XP and Vista installs so I don't know that it's a thing to detection of Win7.  I have disabled the firewall Windows, but that did not help.

  As I am new to Win7, I am not versed on all the network stuff again... any ideas on how to get Win7 to see my 2710 across my network?

• HP Photosmart C309 printing blank pages

  I have a HP Photosmart C309a printer which has worked well until recently. The problem seems to have started after the tray of food thing was hit and fall, but it is difficult to say for sure because I didn't print a few weeks after that. There is no visible damage to the tray, and it will lock in place without problem. Now it is just printing blank pages.

  I did a test print (print quality report), and this is what came out:

  If I remember correctly, there are two black cartridges in your printer, the smallest with the symbol looks like two triangle pointing together, is the photo black ink, it is only used for printing photos. The greatest with the symbol of the Pentagon is ink black text. If the printer reports that non-empty black ink, but do not print text black (after 'cleaning print head'), there could be only two things, I'm afraid:
  1. the black printhead is dead and need replaced. or
  2. the passage of the ink cartridge to the print head does not, it will take a professional service (repair).

  Sorry for the delay.  Try to run a printhead, cleaning the printer.  Who needs traffic as it should still ink.  The steps below come from the document Troubleshooting print quality problems .

  Step 3: make sure that the cartridges are properly ventilated.

  Please, try the following steps to see if it will help solve the problem.

  Printer cannot print black ink or color ink or prints blank Pages.

  I have just updated to Windows 7 to 10.  When I go to print an A4 document now doing at a reduced size that I have an additional border of space to the left and down.  The page is set to A4 of the printer is set for A4 and I tried printing and printing actual size to fit, but it makes no difference.   I deleted and reinstalled the printer so that it would probably use the most recent driver, but even when it makes no difference.

  Problem solved.

  First tried to download HP printer Installation Wizard, which is installed as a brother of generic but with HP Photosmart 7760 showing when you click above but it just printed pages of random characters.

  Then the printer found possedantes-advanced-new pilot and started to windows update and it evetually listed series printers so I clicked it and now it prints A4 OK again.

• Photosmart C4780 - prints extra page even after update HP driver

  With the Mavericks (OS X 10.9.4) installed, I noticed that completed print jobs remain in the queue for my HP Photosmart C4780 Safari printing and preview.  If I want to print another (another page), I usually have to remove the previous work (100% full) of the queue so that the printer will print (I think remember that sometimes, with a Google Chrome browser, it is not necessary).  If I close the lid of my MacBook Pro (which goes to sleep) with a completed print job stays in queue HP, it will be then print again for a second time.

  Today, I installed the updated driver, but the problem has not disappeared when I tried to print from Safari and overview.

  You have an old HP software in your Applications folder, which was the Mavericks before OS?

  Restart your Mac.

  Reset the printing system:
  
  -Go to System Preferences > print & Scan
  -Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
  WARNING - This will remove ALL your printers!
  -Select the sign more to add a printer. Select the default tab on the top of the window. Search for the printer, select it, and then beside the dropdown 'Use', select the model of the printer (not AirPrint). Wait for the 'Add' button becomes available. Until it clicks.
