    Hey guys,.

Looking for your advice and all the links if it is... Congratulations in advance

    My Situation

    In December 2009, I bought a Toshiba Qosmio X 500 - model No. PQX33A-00X00J

At the time, I improved my purchase at Toshiba dealer BD4U, ranging from the standard 1 x 500 GB Sata + 1 x 64 GB SSD... to be rather 2 x 500 GB sata drives. I bought with 3 year next business day warranty onsite, which is is now expired.

It came loaded with MS Win 7 Premium Home Edition - but not the provided disks.

    My needs

    1. I need/want to reset my PC - its starts to run slowly
    2. I need re-partition of my existing 4 x partitions to just have 2

    Questions

    1. Perhaps as a result of the upgrade hard drives at the time of the purchase, I don't think I have a hidden partition restore to recover a system from hard disk - see attached image of my current partitions
    2. I have Win 7 OS installation discs or Toshiba Driver like they must have been installed by Toshiba

    My Questions

    1. Do you think that I don't have a recovery Partition - looking at the picture of the partition? I'm confused on this point coz say hidden sound!
    2. Given I have no disc Toshiba disk drivers or the operating system Windows 7 - what should I do? I think to download Win 7 (use my sticker under PC product key) and to make a disc/USB (but you have to learn how)
    3. This is where I get all of THE necessary Toshiba drivers for my PC from?
    4. Toshiba provides a link on its site and instructions on where to find Win 7 so that I can make a recovery disk?

    Hello

When you buy the new laptop with preinstalled OS (factory settings) original recovery image is saved on the HARD drive. On some older models, it was recorded on the second partition of HARD drive and it was visible in Windows Explorer. Toshiba later saved this recovery image on another hidden partition. This partition was not visible in Windows Explorer, but it is visible in disk management and unregistered.

With the factory settings, each owner of the laptop is able to create recovery media (DVD) and use it later if HARD recovery disk image installation is not possible. In the user s manuals document described how all this works. Please note: the product key from the sticker belongs to the original version of Windows and cannot be used for activation when you install the version of the OS by using Microsoft disk.

I can see this recovery partition is not available on your Qosmio laptop and recovery image installation is not possible.
    Now, you have two options:

Recovery image installation 1 / original
2 / Windows installation by using the Microsoft installation disc

If you use option 1 you should try to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider in your country and ask if you can order the original installation disc of recovery. Of course, it is easier to have factory again.

Option 2 is more complicated. You must install the version of the OS and also install all the necessary drivers, tolls and the utilities manually one by one. Download page for each of them you can find on Toshiba (link is the right one).
It is not so complicated and you can do it alone and we can help you. As I already wrote for the activation of the operating system you need valid product key.

If you have further questions do not hesitate to ask.

  • HP Photosmart C4780: Factory Reset for HP Photosmart C4780

I recently started using a new wireless router after a move, and I'm able to get my computer and my printer on the same network.

I tried to figure out how to change the network that connects the printer, but I was completely failed. I did a lot of searching around, and nothing seems to work. For what it's worth, I had all the last printer and driver software with the software update feature on my Mac. I am also able to connect to the printer and print using a USB cable. But I'm completely unable to access all the settings of the printer that would allow me to move the printer to the same network as the computer. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

I think that if I could get the printer to do a factory reset or a hard reset, that might be a better place to start. I think that the printer has some memory kept the old wireless network, because this network name appears on one of these pages, you can print troubleshooting. But if the printer didn't remember any wireless network, then it might be easier to implement on the new wireless network. Unfortunately, I can't find any information on how to do a factory zero either, so if anyone knows how to do, please also let me know.

    Hi @rumsmuggler

Forgive me for the delay in my response.

It's strange, that it must continue to blink and only go solid once your computer is connected to the network printers.

It could be the wireless radio no longer works properly, I will send you a different reset in a private message, please check the little envelope on the upper right of the forums page to check your Inbox of Forums.

Then you can try the steps again.

Please let me know if these steps solved your problem, or if there is anything else I can do to help.

I look forward to hear from you!

    Thank you

  • My HP Photosmart C6100 has an internal hard drive?

I'll give my HP Photosmart C6100 to my friend.  What should I do before I give it away (to be sure, almost)?

    (1) have an internal hard drive I need to erase data?

    (2) even if it doesn't have an internal hard drive, should I erase memories?  If so, how can I do it?

    Help, please.

    Thank you.

    Hey IMA788,

The Photosmart C6100 line series doesn't have an internal HARD drive to store printed information, etc..  However, there is information stored in the fax journal of the device such as phone numbers, etc.

If you have not used the fax feature, then you wouldn't have the information stored in the log of faxes and would have nothing to fear.

If you used the fax feature and want to remove this information, I then the steps to perform a full semi handed over to this printer.  I will send this information to you in a private message.  Please read Bob_Headrick wire on the printer reset, found here, before you perform these steps.

Did you create recovery discs before reformat you the hard drive?

When reformatting a hard drive, it takes the operating system and everything related to it off the hard drive. That being said, in order to re - install the operating system and all of its essential drivers, you need Recovery CD or a USB stick recovery. If you have not done one for the laptop, you can follow the document 'getting HP Recovery disks or year HP USB Recovery Drive' .

  • Remove earlier / released old system files and Microsoft applications to wipe hard drive.

This weekend I had a BSOD problem. Fortunately I was able to recover the system due to the construction, it supports routines in XP. Now I try however to condition my system to minimize a reoccurrence by cleaning the system of updating drivers, to eliminate the unnecessary s/w and wipe my hard drive. Is safe for me to remove earlier versions of the update of the s/w Microsoft for office, MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2, Windows Internet Explorer 8.0 s/w updates, updates to Windows XP, Microsoft. NET Framework 2.0 SP2 and updated security system? I could recover valuable space on my hard drive. Thank you.

PS. is it possible to transfer all the information it is to say, s/w, docs, files, etc. of a hard drive on a bigger hard drive?

I'll answer the part about the updates Windows and framework-

Remove the old Windows updates: -.

Folders that have uninstall as part of the name (for example $NtUninstallKB282010$ who reside in C:\windows (hidden files) are window Hot difficulty updating folders/files) can be removed safely (providing ever, you wish to uninstall the updates). I recommend you leave these records for a period of at least one month to make sure that the update works correctly.

These updates can be removed individually or together. To learn more about the update/s go on:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/xxxxxx
NB: XXXXXX = the actual number, not to mention the "Q" or "Ko."

Once you have removed the uninstall folders/files, then go to control panel, add/remove programs. Select the title of the corresponding Windows fix on the folder/file of the patch you just deleted, and select Delete. You will get a Windows error. This is because you deleted the uninstall folder/files. Simply choose OK and the entry will be removed from the Add/Remove Programs list.

  • reformat and erase/wipe hard drive

    Hi friends,

I'm about to make a donation or to throw my old Dell desktop that is running Windows XP, sp3 (what that is the possibility arises first ).  I'm sorry that I don't remember the name of the model (for the moment).  But anyway, what I understand, I need to delete all the data, to protect my private life of anyone who might want to use it after I'm done with it.

The research I've done, looks like I need to uninstall and remove programs, documents, pictures, music, etc., as much as possible and record everything I want to keep a cd drive or usb.  Then to start the delete process, first I have to reformat the hard drive.  After that, I need to "sweep" it.  I guess I wouldn't be surprised of this paradoxical terminology, but it IS annoying.  I'm talking about it wiping of the process which does not remove anything, but rather replaces the disk, at least a few times, to have my most difficult to recover data .

Could someone me directly to the appropriate instructions for reformatting the hard drive please?  Or if there is an article or something about this whole process, which you could link me to, that would be great.

Also, I looked for a program to make wiping.  There are those who are free and more expensive.  I prefer free, unless they are just not worth it.  All of you have recommendations for wiping program?

Actually, come to think of it, I could still be able to use the computer.  Once I refortmat hard drive, isn't that kind of start over with a clean slate as?  If I couldn't reinstall WinXP right back?   Or I wonder if I could install Win7?  My most recent computer running Win7, so I should have the cd somewhere.  Although this old computer has only 1.24 GB of ram.  So maybe not Win7, but even with XP, I could at least still use the printer that is connected to it.  (The printer and its software are probably too old to run on my newer computer.)  As long as I do not plan to use the internet, there is no security issues with this os to an old/old help... right?

    Thanks for your help

    Hi Brynn4,

Just to add to the comments of rdunnill, I'm guessing that you can't pay for a new operating system for a computer that is worth less that the license will cost you. My suggestion would be to wipe the drive and perform a new installation of XP if you have the XP Dell installation disk. There are many free utilities that can erase the hard drive safely. You DO NOT need to uninstall anything before formatting the disk.

Otherwise, I would restore the original hard disk image if you do not have a Dell XP disc.

And Yes, I understand that Microsoft ends in favor of XP, but there are many people who use computers for non-critical tasks that would be happy to put more than a few miles on your old desktop computer.

    Hello

What you do to a hard drive with an operating system preinstalled / license for a Compaq laptop a Sony, are not allowed under the rules of licensing.

If the laptop came with the preinstalled Windows operating system (Dell, HP, Acer, etc.), this product key supplied with the laptop is preinstalled OEM license and is not transferable.

OEM license/product key (systems of operating pre-installed on Dell, HP, etc.) is related to the first machine it is installed on and dies when dies of this machine.

The above applies also to OEM system builders licenses.

License of operating system in detail, that you buy and install yourself, are allowed to be transferred to another machine.

And retail licenses also can be installed on a machine at one time.

    ___________________________________________________

And please read this, you can:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/OEM/en-GB/licensing/sblicensing/pages/licensing_faq.aspx#fBid=cbW6pY-wjS6

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Reinstall Windows 7 on a new hard drive in the Sony.

As you have a pre-installed on the Sony OEM license, contact the manufacturer of your computer to order recovery media that they need to provide for a fee, if they're still available...

Or you can also borrow the same exact retail edition DVD of Windows 7 and use your product key to reinstall.

The COA sticker with the product key is either or in the battery compartment on the underside of the laptop.

With a desktop computer, it's on the side, the back or the top of the computer case.

    See you soon.

  • Computer that crashed; System Restore which threaten to wipe hard drive

    Hi all

Today my laptop crashed. So I disconnected and tried to turn it off completely. He got to "shutting down" but does not move, so I had to leave the exhausted battery. Then I rebooted from recovery, is DVD went in safe mode and try to run the system restore. I now have a message saying:

    Packard Bell Recovery DVD!

    WARNING

ALL THE DATA ON YOUR HARD DRIVE WILL BE ERASED

    [OK]

There is no Cancel button or anything, just an OK button. They can't be serious, can they? (And I've read since that run the system on a disk restore is a bad idea). It seems I have to press OK or let the battery die again, either disconnect the battery. What should I do?

    Anon

First disconnect the battery. Now, to get into the mode safe on the hard drive of your computer.  start to boot and then press F8, and then select Safe mode.  Then you can try restoring the system from there. vader95 Windows 95-7 office 97 - 2010 Ubuntu 9.10 - 10.10

    Hello:

If you make reference to the factory reset the hard drive to its original of the condition of the box, you should be pressing the F11 key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen.

Tapping the F10 key and reset the BIOS to its default values, just reset the BIOS to the default settings, not the operating system and programs provided with your laptop.

  • Windows 8 reset hard drive

I recently had to "reset" my hard drive.  This is the option that deletes files carefully and recharge to the os and software that was purchased with the system, not the quick erase of files and reload option.  This seems to have been especially successful with a couple of glitches.  As expected, I lost my documents and all loading post purchase software with the exception of: Internet Explorer has retained its Favorites and the google homepage that I had, in addition, it seems to have retained a copy of some background screenshots that I had downloaded.  Everything else seems to be reset in the way that I expect.  Is this possible?  Any other system of windows OS that I called the operation I have preformed-formatting.  Is there a difference between what was formerly called formatting of the disc and the discount to zero win 8? I'm afraid that my system is still controlled by others.

Long story short, I had a moment of weakness and allowed a person who self-identified as a Microsoft technician to my computer via the internet – after a short period, he said that all the original operating system files have been overwritten do my version of windows a bootleg. I'm slow, but I'm sensing the BS now.  He then went on to tell me that when I reboot my system starts ever again unless I paid him $150-i says never and he hung up.  I stop the software from Microsoft, that he had used to "work" on my computer.  Then I quickly asked my computer and could tell by the way that my mouse was followed that it controlled again and restarted.  What he says is true - to reboot windows, I need a password.  He had called back immediately, saying strikes and programs I had or open after stopping his software-now he wants $500 and it will give the password and windows of difficulty.  I said no in ways unpleasant and unfriendly, and started the reset process.

I know I'm stupid to do.  I feel violated and fear that he has had time to steal personal information. Above all, I am paranoid that he still has control on some level because I think it is strange that IE reset not the way I expected.  Is this a problem?  What should I do

Good for more information. Did you buy the system from Dell with Windows 8 and what model is it?

I would be rather suspicious of this system that I do not know what caused this rogue agent/scammer to your system.

I would advise to call Support technique Dell and ask them to install of Windows 8 media. I advise you well then wipe with DBAN system which will remove everything on the hard drive completely off what did this crook.

You can follow the Guide from reinstalling Windows / a Clean Install of Windows 8.1: http://philipyip.wordpress.com/dell-community-forums/ from Dell support you have provided (and make the 7 optional step). For more security, you must also change the password on your Microsoft Account.

Best wiping software is free. It is dban (Darik boot and nuke) and you can download it here:

    Download DBAN

It of free (optional donation) but just as in the image .iso or cd. Download the .iso file and using your program or plug-in free Windows called ISO Recorder of CD burning:

Simply burn the program on a CD, boot from the CD and use the autowipe function. You can also enter the advanced MEMU and do a full 30-collar type of Ministry wipe the defence of which nothing can possibly survive.

  • iMac 27 "mid-2011 hard drive failed, fan to full after the removal of HARD drive

    iMac (27 inch, mid 2011)

    2.7 Ghz i5

    12 GB of RAM

I have a fault where the HARD drive fan runs at max speed (RPM 5431, 51 * C temp).

The first symptom was a rattling noise from the factory 1 TB HARD drive, which has disappeared from the system, to be replaced by a disk of 4 GB in size. Then the fan started running at max speed.

A few months ago, I installed a 2nd drive HARD, an SSD and use this to all the data, so the 1 TB drive HARD original was basically unused and empty. To try and stop the fan and also run the disk diagnostics failed I've removed it from the iMac. However the HARD drive fan is always full.

I ran the Apple Hardware Test and received the error message: 4SNS/1/40000000: TH00 - 9,000

Given the primary SATA HDD is now removed, I also set the temperature probe? Are there other fixes to this problem of fan? I didn't intend on replacing the HARD disk immediately that this is not necessary at this stage.

    Thank you!
