  Periodically, I get an error message stating that Windows cannot locate the file K:\$MFT or K:\System Volume Information.   In this case my computer loses contact with K (my backup drive).  The only way I can get the command back up and running is to shut it down, restart windows and then reconnect the drive.  I have absolutely no idea where, why, or what this message is not irritating and a nuisance.  How can I stop this?

  My problem is back and I guess that I does not after all.  It was suggested that more info on my system could help find answers.  I am running Windows XP. SP3.  My HD is 500 GB.  Intel Core 2 CPU.  6600 GHZ, 3 GB of Ram.

  In addition the cannot locate the message file, it sometimes indicates that a "delayed write failed" and I should save the K:\$MFT file also.

  As far as I can tell, I have solved my problem.  Windows 'Restore' was trying to save my disk backup for future use, and I think it's whence came the message.  I changed the settings to restore now ignores my backup disk and the problem has not happened since.  I hope it's the end of it.

  Whenever I connect to my PC I get a Windows error message saying that the Sonic Solutions DLA driver is blocked due to compatibility issues.  Apparently, it's an error message associated with Roxio Easy Media Creator.  This program, I uninstalled it from my PC.  I went to the Roxio website and tried to solve the problem by using the patch and the instructions to get rid of this error message.  I even went and looked for the name of the file removed manually from my PC.  And I still get this error message all that I connect my PC.  It drives me crazy.  Is there a way to remove this message from my PC?  Any help and assistance would be appreciated.

  I suggest to remove the cartridges and perform a power reset.  Unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug back in the printer. Make sure that you connect the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any surge protector or power bar.

  It may be too late, but try this (I had the same problem):
  Go to %WinDir%\inf in Explorer (which is usually C:\Windows\Inf) and search for qmgr.inf. Right-click, and then choose install. You will need the Windows installation disk, although if qmgr.dll is %WinDir%\System32 then you can potentially point to this file. Let the installation finish. At this point, the name of the service is again Intell... not melt @%any..., but it does not work yet.
  Copy the settings of BITS ControlSet001 to CurrentControlSet key - installation INF does not create this key for a reason, or it does not for me to say.
  Now, open a prompt, cd %WinDir%\System32 and run regsvr32 qmgr.dll. A pop up should tell you that the operation was successful.
  Now you should be able to start the BITS service.

  You already have the printer hp software on your Mac?  If so, you need to uninstall the software by using the "scrubber":

  Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard / click Uninstall HP
  Click on continue
  Highlight your device in the left pane
  Hold down the Ctrl and Opt Cmd and click on uninstall< scrubber="">
  There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall all hp software. (At this point, if you continue, all HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
  Click on continue and let it finish

  Restart your Mac

  Now run a software update.

  Finally, download and install the "Full Featured" driver and software from the "Support & drivers" link at the top of this page.
