On occasions, I lose all the photos (or change) that I placed on my Playlists of music 80 subfolders. Is there a way to lock these files so that the image is never lost or changes?

  • 'My pictures' folder of Windows missing after import

I receive an iMac 27 "new very soon and, in preparation, transferred everything from my old Windows XP 'My pictures' folder to a USB key.  I then imported the Photos content on my MacBook Air El Capitan running.  The transfer went very well, but all the content of the "My pictures" is now randomly scattered through the folder «All the Photos»  They are classified in other folders, such as 'Moments', but my original Windows files are all gone.

This leads to a few questions.  To re-create my original folder structure, can I now have to add new folders and then find and move the photos that were once in these records?  "All Photos" are a mess and all dotted with hundreds of new imported photos.  I realize that this issue is essentially nothing else that a photo storage box, but is possible to organize so that I can more easily find the photos of what I'm looking?

When my new iMac comes, I think I should be able to recover all my photos by connecting to my iCloud account.  (I'm running with enabled library.)  Is that correct or should I import directly from the USB again?  With a 1 TB drive merger, I will store the photos full resolution on the iMac.

Thanks for all comments and suggestions.  So far I find the structure of pictures much less intuitive than my old archaic, but simple to use, "my images".

All the Photos are sorted by date added and you can not change his organization - pictures are sorted by the data of the Photo

Windows folders had no meaning for Photos - you want to re-create your windows folder structure, you will need to start again and import the contents of a folder at once, select last import, select all and click the sign + to create an album that would be the same as the record - repeat for each folder - name or add a keyword and then use an album will include smart of them for you

Yes ICPL transfers to your iMac when you use ICPL all devices remain the same - each deletion, adding and editing on any device are made on all devices

What you're missing, it's that the Photos is a SQL database so that you can pictures finder by date, place (it is part of the info) keyword (as you add them) and many other ways - for ideas look under the file menu ==> new smart album to see the different ways you can group automatically pictures (you can use the same things for research)

For what is intuitive--it's only because your intuition is the result of the years of doing things go (which is extremely restrictive) - once you learn how a database works the new track will be very intuitive and the old way will be no - one driving Brit right is non-intuitive, the rest of the world driving on the left is not intuitive - that's all what you're used to and a database is different

  • Keep the pictures in the pictures folder in order, when burning a data CD disc

I arranged laboriously 357 pictures from several sources in order to a folder in the Windows Photo Gallery by changing the time the photos were taken.  When I burn on a CD of data, either in the Gallery of photos or Windows Media Center, they return to their original order.  I need them to be in order at the time wherever I put to them.  Please help me to do this.  I'm so frustrated trying to make CDs for the members of the family of the 100th birthday of my uncle.  What I try to do on this project takes me forever!  They should have mailed last month.  Help, please. Thank you very much!

    ==================================
Something to try... it works on XP and I have no
a Vista system handy right now to test on...

Best bet IMHO... would be numbered files.

    Birthday (10001) .jpg

    Birthday (10002) .jpg

    Birthday (10003) .jpg

This can be done in a batch...

Navigate to the folder in which the files are saved... (not in the photo gallery
but in the actual file)... I'm guessing it's in your pictures folder.

Open the folder containing the 357 photos and go...
    View / details...

You said you changed the 'Date taken' to sort photos...
If you click on the bar at the top of the column Date taken, you can
Sort photos... If the Date of the column is not visible, right-click
the bar and add it by selecting it in the list... (you may need to
    choose... Continued... to find)

OK, when the pictures are sorted... Right-click the first picture in the
the list and choose... Rename... Enter a descriptive word for the Group
and the number (10001)... do not forget the extension is included...

    Birthday (10001) .jpg

When you press on... Come in... Windows should rename other
files. If it works as it should... when burn you the CD... files
    will be in order.

    Good luck...

  • When I join Photos Email him always by default in the pictures folder.

I tried to change that by selecting the source of the other, but cannot access the windows photo gallery that I prefer to use.

Photo Gallery, in plain English, is just a middleman.
Photos are stored in the pictures folder. It's the true source.

Therefore, when you click on attach in your email, you will be directed to file of pics for selection.
    You can not change this.
If you insist on the use of photos, then open the Photo Gallery, select the image (s), click e-mail.

I moved some pictures album and I 'cmd + dele' pictures, but it disappears completely even in the album "All photos", how can I find those back?

Restore the photos removed from the album "recently deleted".

The key combination command + delete ⌘⌫ will actually delete the photos from your library, not only to remove it from the album.  If you want to remove photos from albums, only the delete key, not use command-DELETE.

  • I can't open my pictures folder. Error message says I don't have permission! I ran disk utility and found no errors. How this could have happened and how can I fix this problem? I'm the only user.

Suddenly, I can longer open my pictures folder. I tried to move a picture to the folder to see what is happening and received an error message saying I was not allowed to display the contents of the folder and if I move the picture here, I won't be able to see. I ran disk utility and found no permissions error.

How this could have happened and how can I fix this problem? I'm the only user. No one else has ever physical access to my computer. However, I sign up for Skyhub a few weeks ago and copied the contents of my Macbook it. Since then, a "Remote disk" icon on my hard drive. This would be part of the problem?

Select it, choose get the information on the file menu, open the section sharing and permissions and give you access.

  • MAC - impossible to find "Pictures folder" / Iphoto photo library and open the Iphoto Application at all

    Hi all

I have Apple devices for a few years now, but I still find it difficult to understand the system. I want to put an end to that, so I finally registered.

I try to look at the tutorials and read the forums, but I can't find concrete answers to my situation.

First of all, in my application of Photos of my MacBook, I remove hundreds of photos and videos, then I go to recently deleted screen and I delete them all permanently.

However my disk space is the same before under 'Storage' summary when I check "to about this Mac". I restarted the Mac and waited for days, the space does not release upward.

Then I read in a forum and found the following answer:

Your photos has not deleted because they still exist in iPhoto or Aperture, whatever you use. Photos saves disk space by creating links to the already existing files in iPhoto/Aperture, rather than duplicate. This means that if you want to delete a file, you must make sure that it has deleted all.

If you can live without ever using iPhoto/Aperture once again, go to your Pictures folder and delete iPhoto Library and Aperture Library . In this way, the only copies of your photos will be those photos, and removing free space on your computer.

    The questions are the following:

    (1) after reading this, I decided to look it up in my pictures folder in the Finder to locate the iPhoto library, however it is not there on the left side, after reading the forums, I still cannot locate the iPhoto library anywhere.

    (2) in case I finally find my iPhoto library and delete it, are the images that I see now in the deleted Application Photos?

    (3) another curiosity, when I try to open IPHOTO, the following message appears:

And then after trying the 'search App Store':

I did not need to actually use my iPhoto or App Photos in particular, I do not yet fully understand the difference. I want to just my photos to be stored in ONE place and when I take hours to remove them permanently, get my rear space and do not learn, they still exist elsewhere (iPhoto library).

Also please help me understand what am I supposed to do with the iPhoto application now that gives me these error messages.

    Thank you very much!

The images folder must be manually added to the sidebar.

    Open the Finder preferences:

    • Click anywhere on the empty office to bring the Finder to the front, then go to the Finder menu in the main menu bar, open "Preferences".
Click the tab of the sidebar and add all the items to the sidebar, you want to see.

Now, open the images in the sidebar folder in the Finder.  Is your photo library in iPhoto there?

Then drag it to an external drive to make a backup copy, then delete it and empty the trash.  Accidentally delete the photo library.

    (2) in case I finally find my iPhoto library and delete it, are the images that I see now in the deleted Application Photos?

No, the photos in your library of Photos and the iPhoto library are separate files.  It was created by hard links.

Hard links are new files, which use the same entry in the table. They store the contents in blocks of same on the disks, so the entries are not duplicated, but if you remove one of the linked files, the others will remain. The storage will be released, when the last linked file has been deleted.

II accidentally put my pictures folder in the bin and emptied!  How to make a comeback?

If they are not in your Recycle Bin, restore it from your backup.

If you do not have backups, then you will need to use the specialist recovery software (search the Web) yourself or get a professional company to do it for you at great expense. The most important thing to remember here is that after you have deleted your files, they still exist, but are considered as a free space on your hard drive and can so be replaced by your PC at any time - use your PC only so much it is necessary to recover the files. The more you use your PC more the chances of your files become corrupted and unrecoverable.

    Some people recommend

    http://www.Piriform.com/Recuva

recovery software. However, I have not used, so I can't personally recommend.

For later use, if anything either on your PC is valuable or irreplaceable, you must save it to a separate drive. Hard drives are mechanical devices with very fast moving parts that can fail without warning at any time. There are many other ways to lose too much data.
