Pixelation during export to PDF

Hello world

I wonder why InDesign keeps the size of the photos that I put in the original file. Thus, when the .indb is exported the file size is smaller than my original photos, and I have the feeling that it's compromising on the quality of the file final .pdf I export.

I am working with a friend through Dropbox, and it seems that when I save my version of the quality of the original photos folder is lost. So when he puts his pictures and exports the .pdf, photos, he placed looks good but my original .indd file photos are horribly pixelated. Is there a way I can make sure the size of the original photos is kept? Who will really help. Thank you!

There are two factors at work here. First of all, are you accessible photos, or they show not as missing or modified in the links Panel? If the links Panel doesn't show them as up-to-date, all you will get export is the preview screen low resolution.  Second, the size of the image in the PDF file is controlled by your settings in the zone of Compression in the export dialog box.

  • SWF animations works does not properly during export to PDF from InDesign

I use InDesign CS5 and you have created a document that I want to add interactivity and animations to. I created buttons and page destionations, etc., which all work perfectly when you export to PDF, but the simple animation that I wanted to include do not work. The animations were created in InDesign, then exported as a SWF file and then imported selection placed in InDesign and then exported as an interactive PDF where animations either do not work, have not been picked up or gift does not work as it should. What I am doing wrong, how can I get the animations work properly?

First of all, if you care about your audience, stop using SWF that has now

    ZERO support on mobile devices.

However after that make sure that InDesign is fully patched, I would recommend

Place the SWF file in the PDF file in Acrobat Pro instead.

  • Graphics in InDesign export to PDF pixelated

I throw a piece of paper, containing a few announcements, stories and features. The ads and the following functions are linked INDD files and contain text and images related to PDF formats, HAVE and PSD.

I recently acquired CS6. From this point, when I export the project in PDF, many of these linked graphics appear and print badly pixelated. Convert graphics EPS, however, solves the problem: the graphics look good in the PDF. While converting all the EPS graphics would solve the problem, it would be a lot of work that I would rather avoid, if possible.

The question seems to be in my settings or a corrupted installation, because when I package for the project and send it to a friend, it can export to PDF format without any problem. I do not believe, however, that I changed all the default settings, and we use the same export presets.

I export my PDF of such as 'Adobe PDF (Print),' using the preset 'press [quality]. I use Win 7 Home.

Any ideas short of reinstalling? Thank you for advice or suggestions.

A jpg made from a PDF file on my machine:

The same image, packaged and sent to my friend, who exported them with the same settings. JPG did the same method as the previous one:

    app.activeDocument.exportFile (ExportFormat.INTERACTIVE_PDF, new leader (myDocBaseName + ".pdf"));

If I export to interactive PDF manually, but by choosing File > export and select Adobe PDF (Interactive), I get a dialog text overset warning box, then a warning of missing fonts dialog, and then a transparency blend space and then warning dialog a progress dialog box. But when I run the script, it quietly exports the PDF with no dialogue at all.

What Miss me? I get no interaction!

I don't know, but it is possible that suppress the display of the export dialog box also removes the associated alerts.

You may need to display the dialog box:

    app.activeDocument.exportFile (ExportFormat.INTERACTIVE_PDF, new leader (myDocBaseName + ".pdf"), true);

  • to come as white when background printing/export to PDF

    I'm creating a poster in indesign CS5.5.

Im a user of Indesign based, used it to simple poster and publication projects, but it has never happened during the use of the colored backgrounds before.

I created a box using the rectangle and filled with a color swatch tool.  Added images ontop of this rectangle and when finished, I went to export to PDF and the background color was replaced with white on the PDF file.

I went through the images and created layers for each of them.

I've recreated the rectangle and the base color in master pages

I checked that i havnt changed the color of the paper

    None of the above worked.

Strangely, although I got a PNG on the poster - when I print to PDF (not exported in pdf format) background color appeared in where objects encompassing would be, but he was white outside this line.

I opened a new document and created a rectangular box colored in the middle of the page - it has exported and printed fine. I extended the edges of the rectangular box filled right to the edges of the page, and then exported and printed in PDF it came in white again.

Any advice would be super useful as to what im doing wrong.

    Thank you!

Thanks a lot everyone for your help!

It turned out that InDesign export was beautiful, but it's a checkbox setting preference "Accessibility" Acrobat in replacement of color, document that has been chosen, the white background instead of what I intended it to be.  Only, I discovered when I sent my PDF document exported to myself, and it saw very well on my laptop and on another PC.  I can't believe, I spent over 3 hours trawl by Indesign and overlay settings!

  • How to export to PDF with crop marks * and * an image high resolution?

HI - firstly, apologies - I have another query here and this is a related issue. Because I have been unable to solve this problem, which is with InDesign CS5, I downloaded the demo of InDesign CC, as I work at a date limit.

OK, so I'm used to be able to export PDF files of high quality with crop marks in CS5. That's what I want to do with my file.

In InDesign CC, it seems that if I simply 'export', I don't give me no option to add placemarks of crop, even if the file is configured to have a bleed.

If I rather 'print' in Adobe PDF format, I * can * add crop marks. However, I then lose the option to export images in high resolution (300 dpi), and they come out pixelated.

Maybe I'm missing something, but for now it seems to me that I have a choice of images of high quality but without crop marks or crop marks and bad quality images!

    Any help is appreciated!

    Thank you!

PDF presets are the same in InDesign CC, they are in InDesign CS5.

Choose file > export > Adobe PDF (Print)

Simply choose a preset PDF which defines the resolution of the image in order to treat his high enough for your printing. There is also an option to print the Page guides and funds lost.

  • Export to PDF without compression always changing of raster images.

When you export to PDF format with compression disabled, my images are still under treatment and smoothing. How can I stop that from happening? My goal is to output a scale print proof to customers (frequently pixelated) using the template of evidence I put in place in InDesign so that it always displays the level of pixelation who will become in the INVESTIGATION period.

It seems that the Viewer is the question. I hate to use Acrobat because it took forever to load and was slow and clumsy in its actions. The new version seems to be better. I'll try using them in the future because most people probably use Acrobat reader to view these things anyway. I'll tell our team. Attached is a perforated cap of the same file read in preview (left) and Acrobat Pro (right). Thanks for your help. She was driving me crazy. The point of all this is to show the customer that 19 ppi is far too low resolution for final printing. The original was sent revised downward to us but at 150 dpi.

  • Right side of placed images are cut when exporting to PDF

    Hi all

I am a beginner still trying to wrap my mind about InDesign and all its features and have encountered a problem with export to PDF. On the right, 1-4 pixels are cut off! I think my problem may be related to what has been discussed in this thread:

InDesign, problem of Image with PDF export... straight cut...

But my question has nothing to do with Visio. I'm simply put PNG and JPG files that have already been created and stored locally on my computer. I found that the only way to solve this problem is to add a few columns of pixels of space white/empty in my images so that the straight line of frame in the images (created by Adobe Illustrator) appear.

Having to change my images first before placing them in InDesign is obviously not the best or the right solution.

Does anyone have any ideas what could cause this problem and how to fix? Maybe there's a setting somewhere for the picture frames that should be adjusted?

You say that the border is the placed graphic? No, don't do that. Make the image as the image only, apply the border via the framework (and via an object style).

I don't know why the gross pixel is truncated, could be an error in the workflow or a bug, it should not happen, but you must not include in the file anyway.

When the files came from Illustrator, use HAVE or PDF/X-4, never no raster such as PNG, BMP or JPG image. If it is printed, text and vector will be printed with the maximum resolution of printers and the quality, raster images cannot be better than the resolution of the image. PNG also supports only RGB and print it not so good, because it would be a CMYK graphic with clear black.

  • Gradients endangered?  Won't export to PDF format.

Hi, I've been searching around the answers to this and cannot find something that is quite the same problem. To summarize briefly, I have a file sent to me from our headquarters that was made in InDesign and it contains a few gradients (just pointing out that the gradients are from InDesign, it's not as if it was something copied and pasted from Illustrator).  Everything seems fine, but when I export to PDF (it is a brochure to give to customers) the gradient is simply replaced by a solid color.

I tried to play with the export to PDF settings, I tried to change the transparent color space a some other bits and bobs but in vain.

I don't know if it makes a difference but the affected place is the master page.  that is not normally selectable unless you change the master page.  But that being said, I have copied the content and paste it into a layer normal and always had the same problem.

    Any ideas?

I tired literally all setting options during export.  Pass by systematically for all combinations.

But you know what?... I just accidentally discovered how to work around this problem and accordingly, that seems not really it's just a weird bug (and I've updated my InDesign where she had corrected).

If the angle of the gradient is fixed what anyone other than 0, the gradient of the exports.

But if it is 0 it does not export, and you get just a solid color (i.e. regardless of the left, the color is in the gradient panel).

I tried fiddling around with it to reproduce the problem with the gradient angle set to 1 degree and had no problems what-so-ever.

  • Is there really no way to export a PDF file as separate pages?

During delivery of PDF documents to print most of the time they want all the pages in a separate document.

I know that I can export the entire document into a single pdf and then use Acrobat to split the document in a separate page.

But I can't just wrap the head around the fact that InDesign before the end of 2011 still do not achieve the same result without having to go through Acrobat (or another application).

Can this be really the case? Or is it possible to do this?

I work for an offset press as a prepress operator, and I would NEVER ask one PDF page/file unless I wanted to control upstream dozens/hundreds/thousands of individual files at once (e.g. book 64 p arrives, I can either check 1x64pp; or 64x1pp files... know what I prefer to do!). I totally agree with John Hawkinson and Bob Levine it is counterproductive.

Similarly, in the 15 years I've been in prepress foreign here, I never had a customer provide the files as a single file / page PDFs and it was another printer who had imposed the first art using an approach similar to this method, before running out of time themselves for print work and we gave the work to print.

However, I read post above of the OP (post # 12) and take the point that it is irrelevant to the vendor who will or won't only PDF page/file; but the fact that the dialog box for manufacturing single PDF page/file is not except through scripts or third party.

Apart from suggesting the exporter LITTLE Scott zanelli (many other posters here have suggested the same thing), if the OP really wants to see this feature in future versions of indesign, go to the indesign wish list and request this feature.

  • Problem of resizing during export (LR3.0)

I'm trying to export with the dimensions of 720 x 540 pixels. The export picture is 720 x 480 pixels. What I am doing wrong?

    Rick

As Lee Jay said, you probably have cropped not the image that you are exporting to a 4:3 ratio. One of the good features on export from LR is that it does not distort the images during export, but maintains the ratio of the crop in the image you are exporting and match the version exported to what you have specified. So try to crop your image using the 4:3 ratio from the drop of the crop tool and see what happens.

  • Scaling and subsampling when exporting to PDF

I want to assure you that I fully understand one of the aspects of the scaling and export to PDF.

If I select the subsampling to be 'None', the pixels of the original image will in no case be reechantillonnes, only stretched out or compressed together, how the image function has been scaling in InDesign. Is that how it works?

    That's exactly how it works.

  • Numbers - cannot export to PDF

MacBook pro OS X Yosemite 10.10.5

    I have the 08 numbers version 1.0.3

I'm more able to export numbers in pdf or excel format.  I save the file/worksheet in numbers, then export to pdf or excel format.  When I do this I get the following message is displayed "the export failed.  The selected file or location (drive or directory) is read-only.

I created new calculation sheets in case there is a bug in the original file.  Same message.

I tried to create, and then record the Numbers worksheets in different folders and then export - same message.

I can export Pages documents in the folders where it has failed with numbers - if this isn't a problem with the files.

I have been exporting documents of numbers as pdf for centuries.  The last I did successfully was 6 weeks ago - I think not I changed my settings to cause this problem.

I went to disk utilities - these are the results.  Made no difference.
