Place a specific paths dialog box

Hello people,

(re) IM new in indesign, we finally changed from quark to indd, thank God.

now I'm setting up my work space and the desire to be like productiv like quark, so I need help doing things in indd.

Ive got a bit to do in Applescript, basic stuff, to make things quark like I want, now, I come across some stones to co-operate which I can't solve or don't really now how to start.

first of all, am OK im here in the forum script? seems noone a responses to applescript, but I do not know how to translate the windowsstuff on my mac.

but lets get to my first simple task:

We have a few fileserverpaths of ever-changing specific with photos, logos, slogans, etc... I used a tool called "spark" which simply press keystrokes, so I did on alt + e for example tab + arrow up 2 times and then I was in this way, I sought.

first of all, in indd, can I link shortcuts to applescripts?

If so (which would be awesome), I need a simple script to tell indd to

make room...-dialogue on a specific path (maybe after doing what happens when I press Apple + f to a filesearch at this site)

everything else has to be such that I call the dialogue off of the menu, so behave as I press so that in a box or with nothing selected at all.

Maybe someone can help me start right.

Thanks for your help

JAN

PS. is there a German community here or continue script validation in my English sloppy?

Hello

Ein sehr gutes deutschsprachiges Forum unter hilfdirselbst.ch here.

To preselect a folder, you can use the following script.

Simply change the folderpath for your needs, save it to the scriptsfolder and give it a shortcut in ID.

When finished the placegun must be loaded with the selected files...

indesign #target

var pathToPredefinedFolder = file ('~ / Desktop /'); Folderobject

App.place (pathToPredefinedFolder.openDlg ("recover some files ',", true ")) / / calls, filter, MultiSelect

  • Showing the full path of the file in the Save as dialog box

    I'm a relatively new for MAC OS and I took the habit of intelligent services on Microsoft file manipulation, in particular to the Save as dialog box. Who has a little smart "arrows" and "buttons" allowing you to ask around the system of files easily, but I faced something else in the MAC operating system.

    Finally, I was able to pass on the path of file bar in the Finder (basically, that nice, small bar with the name of folders/sub-sub-sub-folders you can switch to and it shows "where you are both in the file system"), but I don't miss the Save as dialog box. I tried to find it in the settings to turn it on, scoured the internet, talked with experts at Apple, also called the central phone number, but I couldn't learn all solutions to get the bar path of file under tension to the Save as dialog box.

    And believe me, it's very annoying, when you create a file structure when you register under ' week/Tuesday/XY client Documents/work/approvals/journal/2016/August/2nd /' a file and for the recording of the version changed the same file under the same path, but not to not only return to the file a subfolder creation there AB of the customer, I have to click again through the whole lot.

    The arrows 'story' don't help because when I click on the it puts me directly to record under the folder where I have the last recorded the previous file, or help click on the drop-down above, where records are listed because I could never find the subfolder where I want to go back to there.

    Are there solutions to get the path of file under tension to the Save dialog box under?

    Or is there a plan to get it in the new version of the operating system?

    It is the same on the open file dialog box...

    ..., and I don't want to keep a Finder opens just to copy..., on the way to the record, which was the same effort and has been even more professional!

    I would like to just turn this simple file path bar,..., even that which is available in the Finder!

    Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks for sharing your thoughts in advance, Ian

  • Folder path with all of the listed files dialog box

    Hello

    Someone here is an ActiveX control, or a workaround to have a folder of dialogue path which also shows the files in the folders? File LV dialog box displays only records if limit you the selection of records.

    Ideally, the browser would look like the browser folder with the "Select a file" button, but would also show the files in the folders. One solution would be to activate the files and folders and simply get rid of the file name of the path if they choose 'Open' instead of 'Current folder', but it's not ideal.

    This isn't the ideal solution because it allows the user to select files and folders, but he re - opens the dialog box if they do.

  • The cancellation of the 'file' dialog box and handle errors caused by the empty path that makes the DB connection

    Hi guys.

    I developed a VI that connects to the database reads the names of tables, columns of the selected table, etc. It works well as I want to.

    However, I have problem with identifying the UDL file with function of dialog 'file' use in a structure of the event that is triggered when the button 'Open' value is changed. It also works well, when I choose the UDL file, but the problem is when I cancel it and I get the error 43.

    I tried to deal with this problem with a "error handler" function to clear the error 43 but the next errors that are associated with the database conncetion appeared. The reason is, when file dialog is cancelled, an empty path passes by reference of connection and I can't start the while loop where are the key codes. I also used a box Structure connected to "Cancelled" with 'DB connection tool' in case of real and connection the reference connection for the while loop, but I get the same result.

    I want to apply for work as: start to push the button "Open" and select the file UDL, the loop run to establish the connections database, if not with the cancellation of the file dialog box, the application waits by pushing the button open and select the UDL file again.

    Thanks a lot for your help in advance.

    Hi lman,.

    start to push the button "Open" and select the file UDL, the loop run to establish the connections database, if not with the cancellation of the file dialog box, the application waits by pushing the button open and select the UDL file again.

    Some pseudocode, easy to implement:

    WHILE

      onevent(OPEN button)
        FileDialog

      IF file selected THEN
        open database
        do calculations
      ELSE

  • Automate export PDF in a specific folder without dialog box

    Hi, this post is a continuation of another post, but this forum is no longer relevant.

    Basically, I asked if I could automate the export of my InDesign file to two settings PDF different (one for printing, one for the Web)

    I got it to work, but a step, I can't avoid is having to do facing a dialog box asking where to save the file.

    In an ideal world, I want TO just finished working on my InDesign file, run a script that could automate export to multiple PDF files using my custom settings of the Print and the Web and automatically put the PDF files in a folder (that I put in the script itself - not in a dialog box)

    Here's the script I modifed:

    // BS"D
    // All rights reserved (c) 2015 by Id-Extras.com
    // Free to use and modify but do not delete this copyright attribution.
    // This script will export 2 pdfs of the current document
    // Choose the PDF presets by altering their names below
    // The second PDF gets a suffix added to its name.
    // Modify the line below beginning name2 = to change the suffix.
    // For more InDesign scripts: www.Id-Extras.com
    d = app.activeDocument;
    // Here you can choose the PDF preset
    preset1 = app.pdfExportPresets.itemByName("Hubcast Ready-Press Quality");
    preset2 = app.pdfExportPresets.itemByName("Web-Ready (JPEG High 200dpi - No Color Conversion)");
    if (!(preset1.isValid && preset2.isValid)){
     alert("One of the presets does not exist. Please check spelling carefully.");
     exit();
    }
    if (d.saved){
     thePath = String(d.fullName).replace(/\..+$/, "") + ".pdf";
     thePath = String(new File(thePath).saveDlg());
    }
    else{
     thePath = String((new File).saveDlg());
    }
    thePath = thePath.replace(/\.pdf$/, "");
    name1 = thePath+"_PRINT.pdf";
    // Here you can set the suffix at the end of the name
    name2 = thePath+"_WEB.pdf";
    d.exportFile(ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, new File(name1), false, preset1);
    d.exportFile(ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, new File(name2), false, preset2);

    My document structure is as follows below, so, basically, I want to modify the script so that the final PDF ('_PRINT' and "_Applications Web") automatically export to the "Final" folder, I always held to a higher level of the folder that contains the InDesign file.

    Hello

    I hope that this code can respond to your request ;-)

    d = app.activeDocument;
    preset1 = app.pdfExportPresets.itemByName("Hubcast Ready-Press Quality");

        alert("One of the presets does not exist. Please check spelling carefully.");
        exit();

    mDocName = d.name.substr (0, d.name.lastIndexOf('.'));
    mSourcePath = d.fullName.parent.toString();
    mRootPath =mSourcePath.substr (0, mSourcePath.lastIndexOf('/'));
    mTargetPath=mRootPath.concat('/final/');

    mNamePrint = mTargetPath.concat(mDocName,'_PRINT.pdf');
    mNameWeb= mTargetPath.concat(mDocName,'_WEB.pdf');

    if (!d.saved){
        d.save;
    }

    d.exportFile(ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, new File(mNamePrint), false, preset1);

  • How to print specific pages of a pdf document in a vb program 2013 using a dialog box print

    Hello.  I use the SDK for acrobat to view PDF files from 2013 vb program, because PDF files are large and we have developed indexes on some columns.  The indexes are stored in SQL tables.  My program has a search engine that allows the user to search for a value and displays all the pages on which this value appears in the column indexed in a listbox control.  By double-clicking on the desired value in the list box, the user can go to the selected page and the column.  However, the user must also be able to select one or more pages in the listbox control and print these pages.  I could do it in silent mode using AcroExchAVDoc.PrintPages, but the user must also have a print dialog box in order to possibly select a watermark to print on the pages.  I also by default the orientation of the pages according to the document.

    I looked at the documentation for the sdk and also searched in Google and this site, but have not found a way to do this.  Does anyone have a suggestion?  Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Mary

    I decided to go with my solution to create a separate pdf file in a temporary directory.  The user is happy with it, and this is the determining factor.   Thank you all for your suggestions.

    Hopefully, someone can help me

    best regards, Erwin

    It is a feature of the operating system (it remembers the last place you were when it finally emerged) - If you use the VI of file dialog, you can specify the 'path of departure', so it always opens the dialog box in the path that you specify. I think you can do the same for controls of path of file on the pattern-block as well.

  • Experience in the creation of UIs compositable configuration dialog boxes

    The attached files are saved in 2009 LV. They are an experience. Please don't go out and say: "NEITHER said this is how you should do a dialog box options.»

    Oh - I guess I should mention - it is an experience of how make a dialog box options that can be reused, extended and modified for hierarchical systems. In other words, I can create a user interface of the options for the DAQ cards and then reuse this dialog box and add the options specifically for M-series cards, then reuse this dialog box and add options for a specific card. At each level, I can choose to reuse the existing set of options, I can reduce or disable some options, and I can add new options and when I hit the OK button, out POPs a unique configuration for the selected map object.

    That is the goal.

    This experience allows to get a part of that. I did a lot of work with the sub-panels with a transparent background.

    I hate the TAB key. I have no solution to the problem of how to set up the tab properly through the controls of these various sub-panels. Boring. And this project did lead me to an entry for the exchange of ideas for the transparent sub-panels of files: Sub-panels with 'make Transparent Panel' activated should allow mouse clicks switch to control...

    To take a look at this experience, unzip the attachment, open the project file and open Caller.vi. There are detailed instructions and explanations of what you see on the front of this VI. I put comments in various places. The code is ok quality - he will win no reward for the following style rules, but most of the wires straight race. All this is just to see how far I could go with this approach to compositing interfaces.

    Oh and if you learn something from all this, send a note of thanks for user tst. He had an initial framework that he worked with, happened to hit on a day where I could spend the time looking into it, and its code has inspired me to try this different approach. The end of it, I don't know how useful this approach will always for real production code, but it is a technique that I've never seen anywhere else... maybe someone out there will as inspired by my experience I've been by tst and will find a way to do it is better. Because, honestly, creating an extensible user interface infrastructure is a problem DIFFICULT and LV has several approaches to this kind of work, but none are particularly large. It would be nice to have a canonical "that's the way NOR and the CLAs say that we should write a dialog box options.

    And now, after having spent some time on 'R', I need to return to the part "D" in R & D...

    I enclose the original example, I sent to QA. It shows two other ways to arrange GUI - one by using a listbox control and using the vertically stacked sub-panels. I think that both are simpler than his approach.

    Notice that we use very different approaches in how the references of dialog boxes are acquired. Note that these two examples are proof of concept and have various problems.

    Anyway, if you want to see where this debate began and where my example was originally published, look here, where there is also a small video and an image.

  • Is it possible to add programs to readers separated at the Run dialog box without putting a shortcut in the system32 folder?

    When I want to run something from the Run dialog box, I just type the name of the program.  For example, to use the command prompt, simply type cmd.  But some program I have to type its full path.  The only way around this is to put a shortcut in the system32 folder.  Only, I forgot that I put it there, and I often erase it as a kind of Trojan horse.  I don't like things like nonwindows randomly in my system32.  Is this in any way about this?  I put a shortcut in the %ProgramFiles%, but it seems random with a shortcut to chance here.  In addition, if the shortcut is located in a folder in system32 or %ProgramFiles%, it won't work.  Shortcuts in the %windir%\System32 too much work, but makes me more suspicious of my own files.

    This is precisely what concerns the environment variable "path".

    The applications that you want to be able to run in a directory on your disk to another.  If, for example, you have a dirve D:\, you could create a directory named D:\MyApps and place the executables in D:\MyApps.

    • Open the system properties (right click on my computer > properties)
    • Click the Advanced tab
    • Click the "Environment Variables" button
    • Scroll down in the "System Variables" box until you find the variable "Path".
    • Select 'Path', then click on change
    • Go to end of the text in the edit window, and then type a semicolon followed by the path to the directory you created for your applications.
    • OK your way out.

    Be careful when you change the path variable that you add only.  If you delete the existing path variable (or part of it), it is likely that something no longer works correctly.
