I have a finished InDesign file and what I have to do is to replace the text in the InDesign document with the text in a Word document.   It is a way to do it. But you will need to format the new document with paragraph styles.

  1. Open existing document ID
  2. Save as and change the file name (language to translate to?)
  3. Insert the cursor at the beginning of the document
  4. CRLT/SHIFT/END to select all of the text in the document (this is for Windows)
  5. Delete
  6. File/Place the file with the text you want. Make sure that you press SHIFT while placing the file, the text flows to all text frames.
  7. Format the document as you wish

  Second step is very important to keep the original file.

When I changed the size of the original Illustrator at 40 "x 40 ', I looked and realized that ID had changed the setting of x % of 10% and y10 to x12.5% and y12.5%, that has kept the image placed in the ID file at 5'." Outrageous! No matter what I have to change the size of the file linked, he has remained... to 5 "x 5" in the file ID X, applied stupidly and foolishly change by itself. It is a HUGE problem for anyone who needs to design great graphics in Illustrator and put together them on a scale 'wall' in InDesign for printing or presentation. It didn't happen in the previous versions of this software. I hope it's something that can be disabled. I can't imagine a situation where this would be beneficial. Hope it makes sense. This sounds more complicated than it is. In short, the fields should never updated on their own.

  Open preferences > file handling > links. The default setting is "preserve Image Dimensions when reissue of links.

  That's why he keeps the dimensions of the same file.

  I have several files .ai (not .eps) that all link to the same larger bitmap images. Most of these are 3 - 4 times .ai files (~ 220 MB) the sum of the size of the bitmaps (~ 60 MB) and none of the bitmap images embedded! Whence the huge size file?

  If you register with the option 'create a compatible PDF file', your images will be incorporated in any case (in part the .ai file PDF). If what you call "bitmap" is highly compressed JPEG images, data incorporated (in the PDF part) can swell to several times the size of the original files.

  You will find that embed the color profile (ICC) also adds to the file size.

  in Illustrator CS5, I packed an object (oval yellow) and applied a grain effect to the object (Effects > Photoshop Effects > Texture > Grain).

  I created a few art text in Illustrator I want to print as a poster. Whenever I have save the file as PDF (300 DPI) and print it myself the text will appear crispy with no pixelation. However, I want to post it to 18 x 24, that I can't do with my basic printer so when I print I print only part of the picture, but whatever lines are perfectly clear.

  I would be fine with leaving in PDF format, however, I have noticed most all plants ask a JPEG file for prints, which I can't understand because based on what I've read online, JPEG files automatically reduce the quality. Whenever I have the same export to JPEG (300 DPI) the text becomes pixelated.

  Is there anyway I can export this file to JPEG and not lose quality?

  If your document is set up at the scale 1:1 to the final output size then jpeg 300 dpi should look ok, as long as you choose 'export' in the menu file, DO NOT use the backup for web option, which will be released at 72 dpi.

  Make sure that you "the installation document" is 1:1 scale in the right units. so do 18 x 24 and make sure that your text is the size you want in this area.

  then choose file - export

  Choose jpeg

  then in the next window that appears, make sure that you choose at least 300 dpi (it may be higher if your computer has enough ram etc in order to treat her)

  ID choose the RGB color model if you print on the type of place that requires a jpeg file. and make sure that the "quality" slider is completely to the right for best quality compression.

  If its really not workign out, then you can try sending them a TIFF instead, which usually have compression artifacts (you can zip to reduce the size of the file after you save it)

  copy shops more low effort can usually work with tif or jpeg if they avoid pdf for some reason any.

  At worst you should obtain characters corrupted by the following as when you do not have specific policies on items of text, but if not, you should be able to open the file. The only thing that could prevent this otehrwise, it's something systemic, you need to maybe install support for Asian languages (especially if you are still running Windows XP) or even change the language of the user interface.

  OK, Bob. This give a try.

  First, open a new file and make sure the background is white, not on Transparent that I suspect you have currently defined.

  

  Then, type your copy. Your layers panel will then look like the top of this picture...:

  

  and when you drag the text on the image layer, it will look like the lower part of the sample above.

  If it is always static (that is, you know exactly the tag) you can treat it as alternative text. I suggest you add an id to the tag so there is no confusion as
