You have to locate the files on your internal hard drive, using the Explorer, then drag and drop them on the hard drive.  If you don't know where they are on your hard drive, right click on the video file in the library and choose the location of the opened file.

It is not an option to add to my windows media player library. It won't let me transfer my desktop in Windows Media Player. What should I do?

    Hi Jim,.

Thank you for visiting the Windows Vista Forums.

Since you aren't able to add items to the Windows Media Player library, you can follow the below provided not, because this problem can occur because the database to library Windows Media Player corrupt.

    1. click on start.

    2. click on run.

    3. type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player.

    4. click on OK.

    5. Select all files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.

6 Note you don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

7 restart Windows Media Player and check the error.

Jim, if this does not resolve the problem, disable the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps,

    Click Start.

    Click run.

    Type % LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft.

    Click OK.

  • MP4 video files do not appear in Windows Media Player 12

Hi, I have Windows 7 64 bit and WMP version 12.0.7600.16667

I have several .mp4 video files in the folder my videos that do not appear in the video library (other type .avi files). I want to listen to these files on my Sony Playstation so I did already a lot of googling but could not find a solution. From what I checked on my system, I already have a codec and if I click on a such file in play in WMP.

Can I do to solve this problem? Thank you.

I don't know if it has changed since Vista but Mp4 video was not a video file type recognized, so a registry change has been necessary to make it usable as MS file formats AVI or WMV etc... MS has (yet?) Default identified it as an audio file format. MP4 is in fact also a video container type of file, such as AVI. You need a separator of suitable as well as audio and video CODECs on the system file.

The instructions for the installation of ffdshow and Haali splitter should work:

    http://www.Afterdawn.com/guides/archive/how_to_play_mp4_files.cfm

It is essentially the same thing that I've done and MP4 files appear in my video library WMP.

For the last week where by clicking on "Find album info" when you use Windows Media Player, I get an error message that reads 500 - internal server error. If you want to avoid download and install again, you can choose ' hide ' and then it can be installed without wanting to. You should see the option to hide an update on the configuration page.

Original title: cannot burn, was ok and then nothing, has had this problem for a week now, redrawn, changed registry, tried everything?

Windows Media Player could not complete burning because the disc is not compatible with your drive. Try to insert another type of recordable media or use a disc that supports a write speed that is compatible with your drive.
