Play with Oracle SQL developer configuration and its debug mode

Greetings from a newbie, ask simple questions:

1. I'm trying to run sql scripts using sql developer without actually connecting to the database, which makes a fake link in order to check if the syntax of the scripts is correct. Can I do this?

2. Furthermore, I try to play with its CONF file, and I have a difficulty to understand the language that is using. What language is this? I can only guess "sqldeveloper - debug.conf ' is performed when I put ' IncludeConfFile sqldeveloper - debug.conf" in sqldeveloper.conf. But I don't really know how these configuration files. Could you give me some tips to learn this?

Best regards

Valerie

No, Developer SQL does not parse the SQL statements, just them sends to the server and presents the results with you.

As for the syntax of the configuration files, no idea. You might have more luck the {forum: id = 260} forum.

  • Problems with Oracle sql developer

    Hello

    I have problems with my Oracle SQL developer 3.0.04 Version. It makes windows unstable once the query tries to display too many rows of data (for example, 300 k). Is there a way to solve this problem in addition to increasing the amount of physical memory? I currently have only 1 GB of RAM on this machine. Thank you.

    Hello

    Upgrading hardware can be a very satisfying experience, especially as it is almost always little expensive compared to the value of your time. Virtual memory / paging on the Windows and PC hardware is a huge disappointment, so more memory on Windows is a cure-all. With more and more common 64-bit operating systems, laptop computers and the PC is currently available with 8G of memory.

    That said, I think few users have a business case for the visualization of the hundreds of thousands of lines via a graphical user interface.

    Getting back to what concerns the management of memory in java, I want to put in a plug for the garbage and first new Garbage Collector. It will be the production in JDK 1.7, but can be found in the JDK 1.6 u14 & high in experimental option. The most recent revision update, the better it is. Just add something like this in your sqldeveloper.conf file:

    AddVMOption - XX: + UnlockExperimentalVMOptions
    AddVMOption - XX: + UseG1GC
    AddVMOption - XX: + G1YoungGenSize = 25 m
    AddVMOption - XX: + G1ParallelRSetUpdatingEnabled
    AddVMOption - XX: + G1ParallelRSetScanningEnabled

    It does a much better job of actually release unused memory in the context of the o/s.

  • Partitions don't synchronize only not - Oracle SQL Developer 4.1.3.20

    Hello

    First of all, thanks a lot for developers for this great tool.

    I use the Data Modeler which comes with Oracle SQL Developer 4.1.3.20.

    In the 12 c database, I created the following table:

    CREATE

    TABLE MMOURA. TEST_TABLE

    (

    NUMBER OF ID_TEST_TABLE (10) NOT NULL

    DATE_TEST_TABLE DATE NOT NULL

    )

    ORGANIZATION HEAP PCTFREE 10

    LOGGING NOCOMPRESS NO INMEMORY

    NOCACHE NOPARALLEL NOROWDEPENDENCIES DISABLE THE MOVEMENT OF THE LINE;

    I import with Data Modeler and add the partition:

    CREATE

    TABLE MMOURA. TEST_TABLE

    (

    NUMBER OF ID_TEST_TABLE (10) NOT NULL

    DATE_TEST_TABLE DATE NOT NULL

    )

    ORGANIZATION HEAP PCTFREE 10 TABLESPACE SYSTEM NOT LOGGING NOCOMPRESS NO INMEMORY RANGE PARTITION

    (

    DATE_TEST_TABLE

    )

    INTERVAL OF

    (

    NUMTOYMINTERVAL (1, 'MONTH')

    )

    (

    PARTITION P_BEFORE_2010 VALUES LESS THAN (TO_DATE (JANUARY 1, 2010 ',' DD/MM/YYYY "")) NOCOMPRESS

    )

    NOCACHE NOPARALLEL NOROWDEPENDENCIES DISABLE THE MOVEMENT OF THE LINE;

    So I can create a partition and generates the correct code.

    I click on "Synchronize data dictionary with model" and see the differences with the model and the database.

    In the models 'compare', 'Physical Details' is red. 'Partition' is red, "Selected" are marked, "Source table: TEST_TABLE ' is YES and" target Table: TEST_TABLE "is no.

    "Partitioning" is marked, and I can see the new partition "P_BEFORE_2010."

    teste_partition_chamado_oracle.png

    But when I click on 'Overview of DOF', theres no changes:

  • Database SQL Server (read-only mode) in Oracle SQL Developer

    Hello

    I have connected the database server SQL with Oracle SQL Developer 3.2.10.09, everything looks good except that I can only browse the data, I can not change the data in the tables may not add new or delete lines. Query is also disabled (I got the message: Query Builder is not supported for this connection type.) I used a third of JDBC drivers - jtds - 1.2.6.jar as my connection to SQL server. Is there a way to change the data in the tables?

    Thank you.

    As much as I KNOW edition data in table in the grid are possible with an Oracle database. On MS SQL, you can use update instructions on the worksheet.

    Hope that helps,

  • Taking JDBC connection configuration supported the RAC in Oracle SQL Developer?

    How can one Oracle SQL Developer be configured to successfully connect to a [Oracle RAC | http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oracle_RAC] environment, that is, not only the installation program always to connect to one of the individual nodes?

    [http://programmersjournal.blogspot.com/2008/08/jdbc-connection-string-for-oracle-rac.html] is an example of a classic and taking version supported the equivalent CARS of a JDBC connection string. I've used a CAR of the same format connection string from within Java applications custom without problem. I thought that the same thing should be configurable in Oracle SQL Developer, by setting the 'Connection Type' drop-down menu on "Advanced", then enter the connection string JDBC RAC-aware as "Custom URL JDBC". However, after the test connection, the following error message is displayed at the bottom of the dialog box:

    Status: Failure-Test failed: IO exception: NL Exception has been generated

    There is no additional information shown on the display 'Page Logging'. With the help of Oracle SQL Developer 1.5.5.

    Thank you!

    You could always give the current 2.1 ai2 test... continuous development may have fixed the issues in this area...

    Hope that helps,

  • PL/SQL and Oracle SQL Developer

    I just downloaded the latest version of Oracle SQL Developer, because I heard that it of free and comes with a debugger.

    So I have it all set up, I am connected to my database, but I wanted to run a simple example:

    I chose to create a new procedure and a new tab open, I have pasted this code and under DBMS output, I clicked on the + to: set serveroutput on
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE TEST1 As
    DECLARE
       mytext varchar2(100) := 'Hello world!' ;
    BEGIN
       dbms_output.put_line(mytext) ;
       dbms_output.put_line(mytext) ;
    END TEST1;
    Yet, I get an error:

    Source does not have a target executable.

    So is - what's it to work only with database objects? Tables? I can't run a simple Hello World?

    Please help, thanks!

  • The using Excel and Oracle SQL Developer data import - I need help

    Dear friends,

    I use Oracle SQL Developer 1.5.1 and I need to import an Excel file into a database table. If I try to import this file into XLS format, fields and headers are properly presented and separated, but if I press the button 'Next', it does nothing - it remains stopped.

    I did some research here in this forum and it seems to me that when you try to import a file via the XLS format, Developer SQL has bugs. Is this correct?

    If I save the same file in the CSV format and try to import the same file, it moves forward, but SQL Developer is not separating headers and fields correctly. It includes all CSV fields into one - say Column0 and fields 1. TEST; 01/01/2000 under the same Column0.

    Save the file in the CSV format is not a problem, by taking a little time. But I don't know how to make Developer SQL import correctly. Could someone help me please? Thanks in advance.

    Best regards

    Franklin

    This is a known bug in 1.5.1 so use 1.5.0 to import from Excel.
    With respect to the CSV, make sure that you have the right setting in the Preferences - Database - settings of export of genres - delimiter of export custom .

  • Installation of Oracle SQL Developer and Java

    I finished installing the Oracle Client without problems. SQL Developer opened for the first time and he asks me the full path Java.exe.

    That's fine, but when I entered the java.exe I just don't ask again, no errors. Repeat to infinity.

    I have the most recent Java SDK installed and tried the 32-bit and 64-bit versions (jdk 7u4). I even tried to install Oracle Client version 11.1.0 AND 11.2.0 to see if that makes a difference, but it is all the same.

    I uploaded a screenshot if that helps: http://i50.tinypic.com/mjtqte.jpg

    Hi Gunnar.

    Documentation:
    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E25259_01/doc.31/e26419/install.htm#sthref8

    Ideas:

    -Do not use java7
    -Use JDK JRE not
    -On widows, there is a version of SQLDeveloper, including jdk 6 java
    -Instant client is not necessary - but if you want to use use at least 11.2.0.2
    -SetJavaHome updated to sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.conf to point to the JDK
    -There is some confusion about 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems, java and SQLDeveloper, you can search the forum for more details, for example: put on the title: "Unable to start Oracle SQL Developer.

  • Oracle SQL Developer with SQL Developer Data Modeler

    Friends,

    I'm trying to understand the differences between Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler and the possibility to use the SQL Developer Data Modeler.

    I have looked at two home pages produced on OTN, http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/datamodeler/index.html & http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/sql_developer/index.html and would appreciate your comments on my findings so far

    (1) the Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler is a paid product stand-a-lone while using the Data Modeler of SQL Developer feature is free

    (2) the Data Modeler in SQL Developer functionality is basically a "viewer" I create my existing table of DR. by dragging in the Modeler in the object browser, but that's all. I can't save the diagram for later use or use to change the structure of the or the tables

    (3) if I need to have 'Oracle Designer' as ERD capability so I need to use Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler (after purchase!)

    (4) are there other differences that I missed?

    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for reporting the problem. I logged a bug.

    You can view together as "list of system types" directory to "preference > Data Modeler"-probably no longer exists. I guess that the setting for this directory is empty when you start SQL Dev as a different user.

  • Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler start error

    Hi all

    I just downloaded Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeling (2.0.0.57.0) [released July 1, 2009] by selecting the option ' Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler for Windows (this zip file contains the JRE).

    After that I installed the same and tried to start clicking on datamodeler.exe, I get the following error message

    "Failed to create an instance of the JVM on the path:... \jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll.

    On the same machine, I can successfully run the SQL Oracle program without error. My machine is having Windows XP Professional SP3.

    Any ideas? If there is a problem with Java, that of the Oracle SQL Developer should also not run. But as I said it runs with any error, but the Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler gives the above error.

    Kind regards

    JAA149

    Hey Jawad,

    you wrote you have 960 MB of RAM - how did you do a test with 1.5 MB of RAM and 2 MB of RAM?
    No doubt this is a problem of memory - memory change in the datamodeler.conf file option:
    -There 'AddVMOption-Xmx768M"by default; to take
    -"AddVMOption-Xmx512M" or never, making it suitable for your configuration - you can check the available free memory first.

  • Oracle SQL Developer in JDeveloper data modeling

    Hello

    See http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/sql_developer/files/Modeling.html
    Oracle SQL Developer - early release of the adoptive parent 2 data modeling
    Oracle SQL Developer data modeling is the latest product offering to join the Oracle database tools. SQL Developer data modeling offers complete data and database, modeling, tools and utilities, including entity-relationship, modeling relational (configuration database), Type data and multidimensional modeling, front and rear complete engineering and code generation. It includes the import to and the export to a variety of sources and targets, offers a variety of formatting options and valid models through a predefined set of design rules.

    SQL Developer data modeling can connect to any version of the data base Oracle 9.2.0.1 and later versions, and is platform-independent. Initially available as a standalone product, with the future versions available as an extension of Oracle SQL Developer. The second version of the early adopter has stand-alone and file-based.

    See the screenshots, import.png, multi.png, notation.png, subview.png, erd.png, largemodel.jpg

    question
    These data new modeling capabilities are destined to end up in a future version of JDeveloper (replacing the existing data modeling features in JDeveloper)?

    Thank you very much

    Modeling of SQL Developer focuses on ER diagrams and a repository - which we think is targeting a different audience, then the 'physical' offered by JDeveloper modeling.
